  1. The history of the NFL has shown that most QBs that come in and do well seem to have a "lifespan". the good QBs fight through it and the medicre ones dont.

Guys like Trent, Matt Moore, etc play a good few games before teams figure them out and start to shut them down. There seem to be one every year or two.

    .

Does anyone think this will happen with Fitz? Does it happen this year, next year, never? I could see it just because it happens pretty often and we have a 1st year HC who still has some fresh plays. Just a thought, flame on.

Stevie you are becoming not only one of my favorite Bills players but after your appearance on Rome and your brilliance of today on the field, you are becoming one of my favorite players in the NFL.

    GO BILLS!

holy sheet wow. I didnt get it till I read your post. I guess I forgot they were batman and robin. Wow that is great, loving SJ

+1. Stevie said as much in the post game. Said Defenses know where Lee is and follow him constantly and that leaves him open to

    make more plays.

Lets cut posters who continue to live in the past. Let it go. Move forward.

You are right, why should I hold them accountable for this mess. I guess I should feel blessed and relish in our 2-8 record.

    Since nobody answered your question...

According to the chart, no, a 1st and 3rd wouldn't be enough to move up from #5 to #1, hypothetically speaking. In fact, all of your picks wouldn't be enough to move up from #5 to #1. But that's just the chart. In reality, it's much more feasible. In 2001 Atlanta traded the #5 overall pick and the fifth pick in the third round for the #1 overall pick and drafted Michael Vick. The Chargers took LT at #5 and some bum CB in the third.

Yea the chart is a bit wacky, but I doubt Car trades Luck to gain just our third. I think a 2 and 4 would be more like it.

But trading a 3rd, aka an Alex Carrington or Ashton Youboty, for Luck would be a steal.

All of you Lee Evans bashers continue to amaze me. Why cut a main component of an offense that put up 49 points today?? Our offense is not the problem, changing our receiving corps (by CUTTING Lee Evans of all things) would be stupid. But this why you guys aren't GMs.

Lets cut our scouting staff. Could you imagine this team with Ngata/Mangold/Orakpo/Bulaga.

Sick numbers or National championships, huh? The only nat'l champ I found is Vince Young (JaMarcus Russell's LSU won title year after he left)

As far as the sick numbers...

The best seasons of these QBs

    Matt Ryan 59.3% 4,507 yards 31 TDs 19 INTs

    David Carr 64.7% 4,299 yards 42 TDs 7 INTs

    Carson Palmer 63.2% 3,942 yards 33 TDs 10 INTs

Joey Harrington 57.8% 2,415 yards 23 TDs 5 INTs (Luck's stats DWARF his)

    Matt Stafford 61.4% 3,459 yards 25 TDs 10 INTs

    JaMarcus Russell 67.8% 3,129 yards 28 TDs 8 INTs

    Eli Manning 62.4% 3,600 yards 29 TDs 10 INTs

Projected stats of Andrew Luck based on avg performance so far this year

    Andrew Luck 70.2% 3,245 yards 28 TDs 8 INTs

Luck's stats compare very much to Carson Palmer's, Eli Manning's, Matt Stafford's.

And after looking up all of these stats, I still realized it's pointless. Guys have come out of college with all sorts of stats, good and bad. I thought Matt Ryan was going to be an unsuccessful NFL QB based on the amount of INTs he threw at BC. I should have looked at his heart during that comeback win against VT when he threw 2 late TDs late in the game when they were inept offensively the entire game and had no business winning it.

Andrew Luck has shown me all season that he has that heart, whether he's running down (and catching) DBs who have just intercepted him, whether he's delivering blocks downfield for his RBs, or he's running over DBs on scrambles. He has that "it" factor as well as incredible accuracy and beautiful touch on the long ball. Yes, he doesn't throw a spiral every time, but just ask Peyton Manning how much that means. If Buffalo is LUCKy enough to get him, HALLELUJAH!!!!

Exactly. Stats arent worth anything, you have to watch these guys play and throw the states out the window. Luck really is a great player, too bad we wont have a chance to get him.

Actually Tebow was taken in the 1st round, too. Don't understand it myself, but it happened.

Draft position may not reflect how good a player is the NFL (although there probably is a positive correlation to be made). But draft position does reflect how highly thought of the player is coming out of college. Which was my point. This QB class is considered a strong one, and you will see more QBs drafted in the early rounds.

That is flawed logic though. The true test is how well they actually are, because pre draft opinions are just that. You cannot justify J Russels selection because he was selected #1

This would be an amazing scenario since that means he'd be there for our second pick. IMO, he'll go in the mid-first round.

Who are the other top rated Tackles coming out this year? I havent really heard of many others. Strange year this year without all the usual love for the trench guys.

I really cant see Carimi going in the 1st.

But this is a abd year for top tier T as all of them are second teir I think - I havent seen Costanza the BC kid who is highly touted though. But between Love/Soldier/Sherrod/Carimi I can only see 1 going in the first and thats Love. And I think he will be over drafted bc its such a bad year for top teir LTs.

If Love fell to our two that would be awesome. Carimi will be the 2nd or third off the board I think, depending on how good the BC guy really is.

So in the end you think Mallet is too scattered arm and are sticking to it.

You're welcome to that opinion but you're in the super minority

He does misfire but not to the extend you're portraying and I believe the misfires are 2/10th more than Luck.

Crimini has a second round grade?Another reason to try and trade down. If we could get Von Miller at the end of the 1st and Crimini in the beginning of the second. And grab an extra second and third in the process. It would be a freaking dream come true.

Thats ok with me, I was in the super minority saying Locker stunk and j Russel was worth maybe a 7th round pick, although I think plenty of people see Mallets accuracy issues and are very scared.

Are you talking about Gabe Carimi the T from Wisconsin? I love how he plays mean and nasty but I think his feet arnt the ebst. I could see him being a late 2nd maybe even a third rounder.

Listen to Petrino after the Game...He said they were going to run the Ball 3 times and Kick the FG to win because he loves the Kicker...That's all...period...end of story...He was not going to chance anything going wrong...He was shocked the Kicker missed...He said they went back to their normal, aggressive Offense after that and gave credit to Mallett for reading the hot on the TD pass...

Rose colored glasses? I'd say the Mallett detractors around here give the Kid no credit whatsoever...Even holding him accountable for Coaching decisions that clearly had nothing to do with his play or ability...If you don't like Mallett fine...But implying that what Petrino did in the 1st OT is some kind of knock on Mallett...well...that's is a complete joke... B-)

I wasnt discrediting Mallet bc of the playcalling, I was simply stating he wasnt asked to win the game. Nothign more, nothign less

good lord, do you have any clue what you are talking about? last years QB class was a joke. when bradford put on 15lbs of muscle was the moment he became a #1 pick. he was NOT as highly regarded as Luck is right now BECAUSE of his shoulder injuries. Luck has not had that problem yet. And the fact that the next QB wasnt taken until the 2nd round shows you how highly that class was thought of.

If Luck declares (which I think he will), I guarantee you 3 QBs will be taken in the first round. Quit pretending like Mallet or Newton won't be taken in the first round bro.

Dude, I knwo Luck is being more highly regarded than Bradford, I agree with that too, but those other guys I am sayign are worse than last years other guys. I dont really care where they get drafted, when has draft position ever determined how good a player is in the NFL? We took Losman in teh 1st, how good was he? By your deffinituion the Russel/Qiunn draft was good bc 2 QBs went in the first round - thats flawed logic. I am really beginning to doubt Mallet even declaring, he is getting the same undeserved love fest Locker got and I could see that advisory committee grading him a 2nd rounder, and Newton going before him. But, if he or Newton declares, that wont stop Al Davis from drafting one of them in the first - even though they are not worth it.

PS last years a joke? Three of them are STARTING for their teams, 2 playign well, one like poopy and now injured. The other, a 1st rounder, has probably more potential than any QB drafted since Vick bc of all the intagible stuff plus his crazy physical abilty. Lets revist this next year when *Maybe* 1 is starting, Jake Locker is on a practice squad if he is lucky, and some of the guys talk about are still in college.

That is an accurate assessment of the INT (minus the amazing one handed dive the safety made), and I remember that overthrow in the flat.

But you're neglecting the other passes that were on the money and on time as well as the drops, Like the one at the one before the half.

If you're that critical of Mallet please tell me you see how Luck throws short often. How he wlll put the ball behind the receiver and not by play design often, because if you have such high standards you have to see that too.

If you dont you're clearly seeing what you want to see and not what's actually happening on the field.

Don't get me wrong Luck is the better prospect but he does under throw his receivers often.

Mallet definitely isn't as scattered arm as Fitzy. Mallet is a less Fiery less durable Philip Rivers with a stronger arm and if somehow he is drafted by the Bills he will be an upgrade over any QB the Bills have has since #12 retired.

But the real question come draft is, is taking a QB first priority that's where personally I would take Defense Marcell Dareus if the plan is to stay 4-3 but if the Bills and Nix take Mallet it wouldn't be a wasted pick. It would be a much needed addition for the future success of the Bills.

Yes I have seen Luck throw short, but where is he supposed to throw it when his open reciever is where he is? Luck forces it deep too, sometimes even when he shouldnt be. And he does throw behind his recievers, but it happens 1/10th as much as Mallets off target throws, and when he is off target its by a much smaller margin. Mallets balls go flying over players heads (please try and tell me you havent seen that 3-4 times a game from Mallet) and are sometimes even intercepted by safeties 10yards deeper than his WR, Or its insanely short like last night, or that one he tried to throw away and it still landed in bounds!!! :w00t: That was hilarious. Meanwhile Lucks off target throws are on teh WRs back hip instead of leading him  . ILucks worst pattern is the fade route (which IMO is the stupidest pattern ever, especially in college) which is routinely 2-3 yards short and sometimes inside.

I dont like Luck and dislike mallet for some mysterious reasons. Ive watched both these guys and there is a reason I really like one and dont want the other at all. I am completely unbiased when it comes to college football.

Put the beer down man, you've had enough!

Maybe BC in overtime they ran the ball three times and settled for a 38 yrd FG? Then in the second OT he threw a dump off pass that happened to score a TD

O and lets not forget that in regulation, it was Miss St that came abck to tie, as Ark was up.

Mallet didnt have to carry his team to a win at the end of the gaem tonight...rose colored glasses?

Or what's more likely is you're seeing things. If anything he overthrows high.

Look at the game tonight how many of those passes hit the receiver in stride and let the receiver run after the catch?

I would say most of them.

    That called being impartial.

Just because I want the defense to improve doesn't mean Mallet throws phantom inaccurate passes.

You must think he had the most amazing receiver corps if they're able to reel in all those wiley passes.

No, he doesnt have the worlds best receivers, but they are good. O and just FYI, a pass can be caught and inaccurate - which is where my raise your standards point comes in. He threw a pick on the sideline that was late bc he couldnt anticipate teh route, and the pass was also high and behind the WR. Early in teh game he threw the ball ski high over a guy in the flat when he was unpressured. I dont have to fabricate any errant throws because he throws plenty for himself.

We are talking about QBs because of all the errant passes Fitz throws - why would we want to draft this guy who has just as bad if not a worse problem?

IMO last year had ONE legit 1st round QB, Bradford. Everyone else was a project.

I closely follow college football, and I havent heard a single guy say that, not one, so Im not really sure about that.

IMO this year clearly has ONE legit QB, who is a RS Soph and may not come out. Everyone else is a project or not even worth the effort.

Mallet and Luck are both better prospects than Bradford.

And Cam Newton is a more accurate, better passing Tebow.

Then you have Ponder & Locker which are both Better prospect than Claussen and McCoy.

If Mallet and\or Luck don't declare the class takes a major hit though.

Must be a case of this years crop is better than last years crop? Clausen is more like Mallet IMO, and McCoy is/was 10 fold better than Ponder and Locker. Bradford, injury questions aside, was being touted as one of the best QBs to come out in recent memory. Not to mention your top 3 are all under classmen, and Newton isnt a great propect either.

  15.   On 11/21/2010 at 4:13 AM, Levitre + Wang = Wood said:

"Never anticipates a route" really Never? You know Mallet is the big tall guy wearing #15.

By your nonsensical response you'd think he wouldn't have 67% completion percentage.

Yeah through 11 games against the best defenses in the country he just gets lucky 67% of the time.

    He should go to Vegas.

You are taking that out of context. I assume that at least once he has anticipated a route before, but he never does it with regulatrity, he just doesnt. There isnt really anything else I can say about that, he doesnt anticipates his routes and he reads defenses slowly.

Maybe I would care about his stats if this were fantasy football, but its not. Completion % is the most misleading thing going. He isnt accurate, he just isnt. Thats why so many of his passes are low, high, behind, getting picked off. Remember JP Losman short hoping balls to Lee Evans all day? Mallet is version 2.0

If you watch him play and this he is great then thats fine, but you have low standards. Thats really the only possible explanation I can think of.

  16.   On 11/21/2010 at 3:58 AM, The Dean said:

You may not think it's a strong class, but the prevailing opinion of the "experts" is this QB class is the deepest in many years. Whether it is, or isn't a great class, it is far better than last years crop, IMO.

Who are your experts? Ponder, Locker, Mallet... last years was deeper.
