  1. The game had to be moved.  There was a real risk that thousands of people could get stuck in blizzard conditions trying to get to the game or leave it afterwards. It had the potential to be a public safety nightmare.  I'm sorry that some people have to work on Monday or are upset that the Bills could lose a day of rest should they advance, but I don't see how there was any other choice but to move it.

I feel like I'm asking a dumb question having seen at least 30 games in that stadium, but what is this "crown" everyone is talking about?

The field slopes downward from the center toward each sideline.  Although, I don't think it is nearly as noticeable as it was 20 years ago, if it stills exists at all anymore like it maybe did when Hasselbeck played.

I played a few high school games on the field in the early 90's and the slope was very noticeable.  I was on the field after the Dolphins game this season and I don't remember noticing a slope at all.

It’s funny - this forum didn’t talk much about that Mahomes comment.

So many posters here like to live under the delusion that we were simply unlucky or injured or emotionally depleted last year… but we have a HOF QB saying “the Bills just aren’t that good” and no one listened.

Not sure what Mahomes actually said, but “the Bills just aren’t that good” would be ridiculous. They were 13-3 during the regular season and beat Kansas City on the road.

  4. Brown has only one more call up from the practice squad before he has to be signed to the active roster. This could be the last week for Brown so perhaps Beasley is next in line. I get that they are different types of receivers but they are similar in that they both know the office and can step in rather quickly.

How about 3) he hurt his knee during the Lions game in a way that wasn't observed and reported?  These guys get so much adrenaline going during the game that they do get hurt and don't really even feel it.  It isn't necessarily serious, but it may need more treatment.  Most of these guy's injuries aren't really healed by a week of rest, even when they're not too serious.

    We'll just have to see.

FWIW I mined the practice reports for previous weeks.

Bills have had 39 instances where a player was "DNP" 2 days in a row.

    Outcomes:

    Out 30

    Q, inactive 1

Q, active but left game early 1

    Q, active 2

    (-), active 4

    (-), inactive 1

It really comes down to what the practice status is on Friday.  29 of the 30 "out" designations DNP on Fri also.

Milano is one of the guys who previously DNP 2 days, practiced Friday, was questionable for the game, and played.

Now looking like it's going to be off and on showers the whole game...

Patrick Hammer said this morning that it should be mostly cloudy on Sunday.  "Sunday is looking mainly dry with temperatures near 40. There is a slight chance of a few rain showers."

  7. That’s a real bummer. Feel bad for Breece and for Jets fans. The Jets were one of the few good stories this season. Most of the news has been about teams not meeting expectations, which is fine. But The Jets have had a good thing going despite pre-season prognostications (and their recent history). We’ve all been there.

  8. One can comment on the ridiculousness of that unsportsmanlike conduct call without sounding like a dumb meathead. Comments like  “take the dresses off” suggest at best, that Troy doesn’t know how to use his words (because the phrase is devoid of any actual football insight); or at worst, that he doesn’t respect women. It’s not that I want him to be cancelled, it’s just that a professional commentator making millions of dollars should not have to resort to such trite and meaningless commentary. In other words, he sounded like an idiot and should reflect on that.

Forget the game for a second.

After watching from the stands as the ambulance come onto the field and took Dane Jackson away, giving me horrible Kevin Everett flashbacks...

I'm just so glad the guy is okay. Whether he plays this week, next week, or five weeks from now, I'm glad he has no lasting damage. Hallelujah, amen.

I agree.  I was at the Everett game as well as the game last week, and was having flashbacks to Everett and how sick I felt at that time.  So glad that Cam appears to be ok.

I don’t know why they did that in the Titans games, but Eric Wood said in the pre-game show that goal line snaps under center are the hardest ones.

He’s right. You often have multiple people lined up across you whose job is to try and blow you off the ball as soon as it’s snapped in anticipation of a qb sneak.

Josh in the shotgun on 2nd and goal from inside the one isn't a problem for you?  A 6'5" 250 lb QB can't get less than a yard on a QB sneak with 3 cracks at it?

And given some of the stupid challenges I've seen McD make, to not challenge the Gabe catch/no catch is mind boggling.  Even the announcers were arguing he had 2 feet down before the ball came out. That play potentially puts points on the board.  It's not like it was just challenging some 5 yard catch at your own 30, which wouldn't even be a first down.

3rd and 22 with a 3-man rush is on the coaching staff.

Having Josh in the shotgun on 2nd and goal from inside the one is on the coaching staff.

Not challenging the Gabe catch/no catch considering some of the dumb challenges McD has done, especially when the announcers were arguing he had 2 feet down before the ball came out, is on the coaching staff.

Making Josh throw the ball 63 times in a game is on the coaching staff.

I agree that shotgun in short yardage is a bit of a head scratcher.  I noticed that they were doing this in the Titans game too.  Still, Josh missed a wide open McKenzie in the endzone on that series.

  12. McDermott didn't drop a pass in the endzone, underthrow an open receiver in the endzone, miss a 38 yard field goal, fumble a snap that might have led to a field goal, or injure many of our starters and backups.  Despite playing under extraordinarily difficult circumstances, we lost that game because we missed a few crucial plays.  The only problem I had with the coaching is only rushing 3 players on the 3rd at 22 that resulted in one of Miami's only big offensive plays of the game. Otherwise, you can't blame coaching on yesterday's loss.

I think there is some cap relief from cutting Howard IF he stays on a team all season. I’ll try to find a link. If true this game is great for us.

The Bills can get $2 million in additional cap space according to Spotrac but I’ve read elsewhere that he has to meet certain incentives.  Would apply to cap next season

  15. When the Bills win and my brother and I are not at the stadium, we often smoke a cigar on the porch and have a drink or two while listening to a playlist that I made of songs that reference Buffalo.  All of the songs either directly mention Buffalo, or in some cases, were written and/ or  performed by someone from the greater Buffalo area. The playlist has grown over time and has become a cool soundtrack that now accompanies memories of almost a half-century of rabidly cheering on the Bills. More than that, the music and  other Bills game rituals seem to connect us with family, the great city of Buffalo, and fellow Bills fans, wherever they might be.

It would be great to hear about other post-Bills victory rituals from you all, and any other song suggestions.  In the meantime, here is the playlist which I have saved on spotify.  Enjoy and Go Bills!

Thank you for your learned opinion.

I'm a lawyer. I've spent the last 20 years working on criminal cases, most of them death penalty cases, in several states.  I've spent years learning to understand how mental illness intersects with the criminal justice system.  So yes, my opinion is "learned." Your series of comments in this thread however,  are not connected to reality.  Yet you speak with the confidence like you have some knowledge of the subject matter, which you clearly do not.
