Two Bills Drive

You know the saddest words: what might have been. For Bills fans, what might have been was a berth in Super Bowl XXXIV. After all, Buffalo came within 16 seconds and an ill-fated Home Run Throwback of beating the Tennessee Titans, who are representing the AFC in Sunday’s NFL championship game.

If the Titans win the Super Bowl, it’s only righteous that Tennessee owner Bud Adams accept the Lombardi trophy and mail it to Buffalo to take its lawful place among four Lamar Hunt trophies sitting at One Bills Drive.

The Bills are close to hiring former Kansas City Chiefs fullback James Saxon as running backs coach. He participated in the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship Program with Buffalo during the 1999 training camp.

The Bills have offered San Jose State defensive coordinator Ronnie Jones the job as special teams coach. Jones will replace Bruce DeHaven, who was fired Jan. 11 after 13 seasons with the team. It’s Jones’ second new job in as many weeks, ironically.
