Two Bills Drive

‘The move was expected as team President and General Manager Tom Donahoe had expressed his desire to take another veteran quarterback into training camp to compete with Alex Van Pelt for the backup to Rob Johnson.’

‘The Buffalo Bills will be in the market for a few after losing defensive end Marcellus Wiley to San Diego and releasing nose tackle Ted Washington. The team also could lose versatile Shawn Price, an unrestricted free agent. Fortunately for Buffalo, this draft should provide some reinforcements.’

‘The Bills are also expected to select a quarterback in next week’s NFL draft, giving them four for training camp.’

‘Gonzalez entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Pittsburgh in 1998. After sitting out all of 1998, he appeared in one game in 1999, completing one pass for eight yards. He was released during the off-season. Gonzalez spent training camp last year with the Indianapolis Colts before being waived in August.’

‘One look at the Buffalo Bills’ roster should tell you what they are looking for in the NFL draft on April 21-22. Salary cap cuts and free agent defections have created glaring needs at defensive line, offensive line and cornerback.’
