Two Bills Drive

‘Beckwith said witnesses identified Wright as the driver of a car that collided with a van and then departed. He said the van was knocked into a post, where it caught fire, and that the occupants were helped out of the wreckage by bystanders. Three people reportedly were riding in the van, Beckwith said. He said there were reports of injuries in the van, but that he didn’t know how many people were hurt or what type of injuries they might have suffered.’

‘Wright’s attorney, Sal Sciandra, explained why it took so long, "We just became aware that they were looking for him, and as soon as he became aware that they were looking for him, we started making arrangements for him to turn himself in. Part of the delay was making the arrangements with the officers, and some of the delay was my schedule."’

‘All eyes in training camp will be on Bledsoe. Can he shake the rust off and return to his elite form? If he can, that should translate into very big things from Eric Moulds, and possibly a breakout year from Peerless Price.’

‘Witnesses said Wright had been driving, and his cousins said he was intoxicated and fled on foot because he was afraid of being caught, police said.’

‘Wright, who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in April but has not yet signed with the team, remained missing as of 1:45 p.m. today. Beckwith was quick to say that no charges have been filed against Wright and that the investigation is continuing.’

‘Police began a search for Fresno State wide receiver Rodney Wright, a seventh-round pick by Buffalo in the NFL draft, in connection with an accident Tuesday that injured two people.’

What was once a potential weakness for the Bills is now a potential strength. The Bills have developed their WR corps nicely, and additions made this offseason should help round out the group.

‘”We were going to New Orleans, but Buffalo came in,” he said Monday. “(The Bills) wanted me to work out for them last Wednesday. I went there and it went well.”‘

‘Because of the Fourth of July holiday, Jackson says he’ll officially sign with the Bills next week.’

The Bills 2002 regular season home schedule includes out-of-division games with the Chicago Bears, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals as well as important AFC East dates with the Jets, Patriots, and Dolphins. The team will also host Cincinnati and Minnesota in the preseason.

The Buffalo Bills and Gatorade have joined forces for the third consecutive year to bring the Bills Gatorade Junior Training Camps to area youth organizations. This year, ten youth programs, comprised of various Boys and Girls Clubs and YMCA's from the Buffalo area, will be visited by the colorful Bills Gatorade Junior Training Camp truck; approximately 700 youth are to participate.
