Head Coach Gregg Williams was pleased with the progress of his young players after the two workouts but was even more thrilled by the fact that some of the new veterans acquired this off-season were taking part in the the camp that was designed for first and second year players.

The biggest mystery surrounding the Bills in this mini-camp is whether John Fina or Larry Centers will be part of the team when the season begins.

How can I expect Kevin Gilbride to change his offense to suit Drew Bledsoe, when he couldn’t cut it with Kordell Stewart in Pittsburgh? Well, he’d better or the Bills will realize pretty quickly that a severe error has been made and Gilbride will be history.

Many of the Bills players will be on hand to celebrate the occasion and will be available for autographs afterwards.

20. Jay Riemersma, Bills: Could someone please explain to me why the Bills signed Moore when they already had Riemersma? There are rumors that the Bills might release Riemersma after June 1. That’s sad, because we are talking about a tight end who has averaged 486 yards and four scores over the past three years. And he did it in spite of constant uncertainty at the QB position. With Drew Bledsoe added to the mix, Jay stands to raise those averages, but only if the recipe still calls for Riemersma.

‘"We’ll spend a week or two with Jonas at center," Gilbride said. "Then we’ll move Trey Teague into center and let him do it, and move Jonas to left tackle. . . . I think we’re going to see with Billy Conaty, Jonas and with Trey Teague, those three primarily will be the guys we’re gonna experiment with (at center)."’

Try-outs will be held on Saturday May 18th, 9am at ECC City Campus.

“Bledsoe demonstrated his strong arm on a couple of throws. This time he wasn’t holding his shoulder as he did in the other April workouts. That’s a good sign.”

‘"I think he can be one of the premier centers in the league if that’s the position that we can afford to put him at," Gilbride said. "We’re going to experiment with a couple of guys in a couple of different spots."’

The first day of organized team activity for rookies and first and second year players centered around one player: second-year offensive lineman Jonas Jennings.

Gates will open at 12:30 PM and the event will start at 1:30 PM. While the festivities will be open to the public and free to attend, a ticket will be required for admission. Specific ticket information will be announced separately.

The Buffalo Bills will hold an organized team activity for rookies as well as first and second year players this Thursday and Friday, May 16-17. The entire team will participate in a similar activity next Monday through Thursday, May 20-23.
