Two Bills Drive

I hear the Bills might create a job for ex-Bengals head coach Dick LeBeau, who was the Steelers’ defensive coordinator for a couple of seasons when Buffalo president and general manager Tom Donahoe worked there.

Theories of where Peerless Price and Takeo Spikes may end up.

Edgerson made history when the regular season got underway. He became the first Bills player to record an interception in the opening game of his rookie season. In fact, he picked-off Houston quarterback George Blanda twice during that game. Edgerson finished the campaign with a career-high six interceptions and was one of four Bills named to the AFL’s all-rookie team.

‘"I think too often times your guys don’t pay enough attention to details and consequently they rely on athletic ability. . . . What I’m going to do is work to improve their footwork and technique and fundamentals so they can block better."’

‘"Oh, man. It’s almost now like I’m the president of AA. Everywhere I go at least four or five people come up to me and thank me. It’s been amazing to me I’ve been able to touch as many lives as I’ve touched with me coming out and saying I’m a recovering alcoholic."’

‘”He’d bring 40-plus years of experience and a lot of things he brings defensively, he innovated in this league,” Williams said. “I think he would bring a breath of fresh air … and (be) another ear for me, to help me a lot as far as some of the administrative duties a coach does.”‘

”’I was on a ski slope one time, going down the mountain, thinking I was one of the top skiers in the world until I hit the tree,” he said. ”I’m just telling you right now, they can all get better. I’m going to help them achieve a higher standard, raise the bar a little higher and it’ll hopefully pay off.”’

‘“We want him, and hopefully he wants us,” Bills coach Gregg Williams said Wednesday, a day after LeBeau visited with the team at its suburban-Buffalo headquarters.’

Hopefully, yesterday we presented the right situation, that he would want to come here, because he would be a valuable addition to our staff. I really look forward to working with him, if it works out. We should know something in the next couple days."

On return to coaching:

"They say coaching is something in your blood. You just enjoy the working relationship you have with players and coaches and certainly the adrenaline flow on Sundays. But this was an opportunity that I really looked forward to. I have tremendous respect for Gregg, as a coach working with him in Houston and Tennessee.

"When I talked to Coach Williams it was a good meeting. And I was excited about the opportunity to come here and join this franchise, they've done a good job. You look at the way they've gone 3-and-whatever-it-was to 8-8 and they're on the move, making the right moves. As far as just being here, just having the opportunity to work with good people, it's important."

Talk about Mike Williams:

"I am excited to work with him. I am in the evaluation process right now and I see good things fro him, from all of these guys. Right now I am going to see what things I can do, as a coach, to make each one of them a better player. That is my biggest concern right now."

‘"I’ll even go back to my playing days. I’ve always loved playing in Buffalo. The fans are great and the city is great. I remember coming down what I call snowball alley right out here on the bus and the fans we’re throwing snowballs at us. The support from the city is tremendous and I’m excited to be here and excited to come to a city that really supports the team."’

While die-hard Bills fans know that February 14 is the birthday of Drew Bledsoe and Jim Kelly, most others recognize it as Valentine's Day.
