‘Until just recently, it appeared that Conaty would re-sign with the Bills, and resume his spot as backup center. The Bills opted, however, to rely on younger players to take over the reserve center role and apprised Conaty to explore other options.’

‘The New England Patriots signed center Bill Conaty, formerly of the Buffalo Bills, on Thursday to provide offensive line depth.’

‘Conaty spent six seasons with the Buffalo Bills, where he started 18 of 67 games. He started every game in 2001, but none last year.’

‘Conaty, 30, spent his first six seasons with the Buffalo Bills, and started all 16 games at center in 2001. Last year, he appeared in 11 games but did not start.’

‘Conaty spent all of his six NFL seasons in Buffalo, primarily as a backup. The 30-year-old former Virginia Tech All-American started 18 of his 67 career games, all but one at center. He started all 16 games for the Bills in 2001 but lost his job last year to free agent acquisition Trey Teague. Conaty played in 11 games for the Bills in 2002, mostly appearing on special teams.’

‘The crime is a felony, but under a plea deal with the District Attorney’s Office, it will be reduced to a misdemeanor if Wright is not arrested on any other charges within a year. After the year is up, Wright, a seventh-round draft pick of the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills, is expected to be placed on probation for three years.’

‘For four hours, about 150 children from Buffalo and Rochester Salvation Army programs had an opportunity to practice with all-star Bills guard Ruben Brown. Brown led the troops through a tour of the stadium, including stops in the locker and weight rooms, then out onto the field for drills.’

‘Former running back Thurman Thomas recently announced the creation of Thurman Thomas Racing, which will begin competing in the American Speed Association later this summer. Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly is in his first season as a co-owner of a NASCAR Busch Series team.’

American Sports Media, Curtis Publishing and the Buffalo Bills announced that they have combined efforts to create a new publication, Bills Digest, which will premiere at training camp in late July. American Sports Media produced the publication formerly known as SHOUT! Magazine.

That season, Buffalo's head coach brought in several NFL veterans including guard Conrad Dobler, linebacker Phil Villapiano, free safety Bill Simpson, wide receiver Ron Jessie and fullback Roosevelt Leaks.

‘When the Bills drafted McGahee, team officials said he likely will open the season on the physically unable to perform list. Such a move would allow McGahee to continue to rehab while leaving open the possibility of activating him between Weeks 10-14. "It’s a secret," McGahee said of when he will debut. Outlook: Miami has improved an already excellent defense by adding linebacker Junior Seau, safety Sammy Knight and tackle Jeff Zgonina. New England added pass-rushing linebacker Rosevelt Colvin, but there are concerns about the running game. Buffalo has improved its defense, but Josh Reed must prove he’s a capable No. 2 receiver. The Jets lost too many key players.

‘Could Frank Reich really have been a fine, admirable human being worthy of God’s favor on Jan. 3, 1993, day of the 35-3 comeback, and then have become a despicable person deserving of divine retribution by Jan. 31, 1993, day of Reich’s embarrassment in the Super Bowl? It seems a lot more likely he just had a really good outing in one game and a really bad outing in another.’
