Bills injuries: LB Terrel Bernard, DB Taron Johnson improving, but won’t play vs. Ravens

‘Johnson, an All-Pro at his nickel defender position last season, hurt his forearm early in the season opener, and Bernard sustained a pectoral injury in the first half of the Week 2 win at Miami. Neither player will be placed on injured reserve, McDermott said Tuesday, because the Bills believe they can return sooner than the minimum four weeks an IR designation would keep them off the field.’

‘Freak of nature’ Josh Allen has most weekly awards of any NFL player since draft year

‘“I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll keep saying it — he’s a freak of nature,” receiver Khalil Shakir said. “He’s putting the ball to where only we can make the play on it. So, freak of nature, dog, all those things.”’

Coach Sean McDemott shares an injury update Wednesday

‘Terrel Bernard (pec) will miss the second straight game while Taron Johnson (forearm) will miss his third consecutive game. However, McDermott did not rule out the possibility of either of them practicing, saying “tomorrow they may be out there in some fashion” but that he would have a better idea this evening.’

Bills enjoy their Monday night moment, embrace 'Mr. Brightside'

Erie County receives over $200M in Bills bonds orders; comptroller 'disappointed' with local sales

‘So, did Erie County reach its goal of raising $125 million for the construction of the new Bills stadium? Yes, but the vast majority of orders came from institutions instead of retail buyers. Retail sales were disappointing, according to Erie Co. Comptroller Kevin Hardwick.’

Khalil Shakir proving himself as Josh Allen’s top receiver

'He's a special player' | Bills prepare to face Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens

‘”He’s the reigning MVP in the NFL for a reason, so that I think is a one liner that says it all,” head coach Sean McDermott said of Jackson. “They were the No. 1 seed, had the best record in football last year, and it’s driven by him. He’s just an incredible athlete, incredible player, probably in a lot of ways changed some of the things around the NFL, by the way he plays. And so just the utmost respect for him and his game.”‘

Upon Further Review: Joe Brady's got the Bills' offense believing in his vision

‘“I think Joe has done a really good job. He understands the players that he has and their strengths and that’s a big piece of it week to week,” head coach Sean McDermott said following Monday’s 47-10 victory over the Jaguars at Highmark Stadium. “He’s shown, which I think is important, that he’s willing to do whatever it takes, run, pass, throw a deep, throw it short, in order to win. I think that’s a strength as well.”‘

Bills were able to empty the bench in blowout win over Jaguars

‘Valdes-Scantling was the beneficiary of the Bills benching rookie receiver Keon Coleman for the first quarter because he was late. Valdes-Scantling ended up playing 49 offensive snaps, which was 77% of the offensive total and led all wide receivers. He finished with one catch for 7 yards on 2 targets. Coleman, meanwhile, ended up playing just 20 offensive snaps – 31% of the team total.’

Joe Brady watch: Bills loved the secondary matchups and let Josh Allen cook vs. Jaguars

‘We watched a run-first Bills offense the first two weeks. Not Monday night. In the first half, the Bills had 29 called pass plays and 10 called runs. On first down in the first half, it was 18 passes and four runs. The Bills were confident they could skewer the Jaguars’ man coverage, so they ran three-receiver sets (11 personnel) or four-receiver sets (01 personnel) on 30 of 39 first-half plays. Josh Allen is completing 71.2% of his passes out of 11 personnel this season, according to News charting. Last year, his rate was 65.1%.’

Bills' position grades: Spencer Brown, Dion Dawkins win matchup with Jaguars' star edge rushers

‘Good pass protection helped Josh Allen kill the blitz. On 11 blitz plays (rushes of five or more men), the Bills averaged 11.2 yards a play. Against the blitz, Allen was 6 of 9 for 106 yards with two TD passes, plus two scrambles for 17 yards. On a third-and-11 blitz, the Jaguars left the middle of the field wide open with no spy and Allen ran straight ahead for 11 yards. The pass-offs on stunts by the interior of the line were excellent.’
