‘The fourth-year running back did not participate in voluntary OTAs during the spring, but he was at mandatory minicamp and reported to training camp for the start. Cook had been participating in training camp up until Sunday.’
‘The most surprising addition to the Bills’ 15-player injury report was wide receiver Khalil Shakir, who, according to coach Sean McDermott, suffered a high ankle sprain to his right foot during the practice Friday night at Highmark Stadium. Shakir is considered week to week, McDermott added, and it is the latest hit to a receiver room that’s suddenly thin.’
‘“(The coaches) told us before practice in the team meeting, ‘Be ready for anything,’ ” Lewis said.’
‘For a team that has practiced in full pads only three times at the start of training camp, the Buffalo Bills have a massive injury list that grew since their practice at Highmark Stadium Friday night.’
‘Cook was not on that list, but when the workout began, he was not in uniform. Instead, he was wearing an all-white sweat suit with a knit hat. Everyone assumed that it was a veteran rest day for the running back, but afterward it became clear that it was not.’
