Two Bills Drive

‘The Bills shot themselves in the foot continually, losing three turnovers and committing 11 penalties in falling to 4-1 on the season. The Patriots improved to 3-2 and are now just a half-game back in a suddenly competitive AFC East.’

‘For the fourth time in five games, Buffalo needed Allen to make clutch throws and save the day. Allen got close to doing it again, but Drake Maye showed why the Patriots are on the rise after three consecutive seasons out of the playoffs.

‘the buffalo bills have some cleaning up to do. they had eight penalties in the first half totaling 65 yards and 11 accepted penalties in all. they were sloppy in other ways, with turnovers and drops, but luckily for them, the Patriots eventually had some key undisciplined plays of their own, allowing the bills to get back in the game. the Patriots are a team on the rise, but this was still an uninspired outing from the bills. buffalo’s first-half possessions went like this: fumble, punt, fumble, field goal, punt. the messy first half proved to be too much to overcome, as the bills took their first loss.’

‘Maye was falling to the ground when he threw the ball toward the right sideline, where Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs was open to make the catch and run for 12 yards. The first play of New England’s final drive led to Andy Borregales’ game-winning field goal Sunday night in the Patriots’ 23-20 win that sent the Bills to their first loss of the season.’

‘With Milano out, Shaq Thompson took on a bigger role for the Buffalo defense and did a nice job, finishing with five tackles, one sack and one forced fumble, which was recovered by fellow linebacker Terrel Bernard.’

‘Let’s let the head coach start things here: “The second half, I didn’t think the pass defense was good enough. Gave up some chunks there, which hurt us,” McDermott said. They sure did. Four of New England’s five longest plays came in the second half, and all of them were through the air.’
