#89 Posted August 5, 2005 Share Posted August 5, 2005 Hunter Kelly, the 8-year-old son of former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, has passed away after a long and courageous battle with Krabbe's Disease. Hunter Kelly was diagnosed with the rare disorder shortly after his birth on February 14, 1997. Hunter suffered from Krabbe Leukodystrophy, an inherited, fatal nervous system disease. He was only expected to live a few years. Jim and Jill Kelly created the Hunter's Hope Foundation in 1997, to raise awareness and money for medical research for Krabbe and other leukodystrophies. The foundation has raised millions of dollars for research. In a statement released by the Foundation, the Kellys ask for continued prayers and support while also requesting privacy as they mourn the loss of their son and comfort Hunter's sisters Erin and Camryn. The wake for Hunter Kelly will be private. A celebration of his life will take place Tuesday, August 9 at 1 P.M. at the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg.
