Risktakers

Recommended Posts

Where were the risks today? Where were the deep balls? We learned early on that the 3 -step, fade-away pitches to the tight end weren't going to work today. We learned early on today that the run could only set up the pass and not the other way around. What we also learned early today, is that, despite a single reverse, the Bills played entirely not to loss, and absolutely not to win.

The only deep pass I can remember is the one just before the half, which everyone and their uncle knew was coming. So what are we to do? Send Moulds and Reed on 6 yard post patterns the whole game and let Lee Evans block, well, erm, decently?

The fact that Rian Lindell missed a 37 yard field goal is ridiculous, but what is more ridiculous is that on a 1st and 5 a drive or two earlier, there is a holding call on a play where McGahee would have, at least, gotten 1 or 2. A holding call on a 1st and 5? ON A 1ST AND 5?

That, in my mind, is one of the most inexcusable fundamental errors in football. On a down where you have five yards, and 2 more downs to toy with, and you're going to at least get a yard, you don't cheat.

The only risks the Bills decided to take today, were ones that were not in their favor.
