Just FYI, I read that in California it is typically only a felony when the perpetrator is 21 or older and the victim is 16 or under.

    Otherwise it is a misdemeanor.

Because Araiza was 20 and the alleged victim was 17, it may be a misdemeanor.

Yeah it will be close.  The one video I watched with an expert in this sort of stuff said it's less than 3 years older = misdemeanor  more than 3 = felony

  2. She was 17.  If the rape kit has his DNA, he's going to get charged with a felony.  The police, however, will not release the result of the potential victim's rape kit to her.  WTF?

Those results will eventually be released and then we'll see.  Not a great look for the Bills.  May explain the draft day slide.

Don't know if the video has been posted (have not been through the whole thread), but it was an open secret on campus.  SDSU not looking great either.

  3. Not much, but here's the rest....

    ------------------------------------------------

Questions that remain: Last year, Ryan Fitzpatrick started the season on fire but faded late. His 23 interceptions can't be overlooked, but I know he played the second half of the season with a cracked rib. Combined with merely adequate blocking and a lack of options outside of Stevie Johnson at wide receiver, Fitzpatrick was a guy trying to force things. That's a long way of saying I think he can bounce back. My question is whether he has enough protection and weapons. The backfield is fine, assuming Fred Jackson is healthy and the team finds ways to get C.J. Spiller enough touches. But Johnson is the one guy in this group of wide receivers I feel can consistently separate, and when teams roll coverages his way, others must step up. Donald Jones? David Nelson? Rookie T.J. Graham? The blocking must also get better, otherwise I wonder if this season will be a less-than-fair audit of Fitzpatrick.

Next year's help, now: Keenan Allen, WR, Cal

With great run-after-catch ability, Allen isn't a total burner, but the former safety knows how to work in space and has exceptional hands. He is an ideal target to complement Johnson on the outside.

Favre may not be back with the Jets. Doesn't sound like he's well-liked by anyone on the team. Basically he did not associate with anyone else on the team, had his own "special" room that he always hung out in, his preparation for games was lacking, etc. Why does he keep coming back? He obviously does not want to do the work to help his team win in the long run anymore.

  5. This posts crack me up, keep em coming!!!!

Go ahead, compare a SS to a CF, people do that all the time, I see the connection!!!  0:)  :D

Jeter is older yes and makes more $, but why do you FEEL the need to exploit a Yankee to make a point about Beltran?!?  Beltran is a GREAT player, and a GREAT pickup, I applaud the Mets, great signing!

Many other Yankees fans are saying he's overpaid. I was just proving he's not in comparison to the market that has been set. You have said all along that he is an excellent player, so it's not directed at you.

I am pointing out to the other Yankees fans that obviously don't pay attention to other players that there are good ones outside of the Bronx. If you don't like the Jeter comparison, we can always compare him to Bernie Williams.

P.S. I am comparing stats, not position anyhow, so I don't see why a SS and CF can't be compared. There are great players at every position nowadays so the comparisons hold up.

  6. The fact of the matter is Beltran is the premier 5 tool player in the game today and he's only 27. He's the first player in MLB history to have 4 straight seasons of 100 runs, 100 rbi, 20 hr, and 30 sb. I will compare him to Jeter if you Yankees fans want, but I'm sure you won't want to. And Jeter makes more money and is older.

And yes, Jeter has won rings, but it wasn't Beltran's fault he's been in KC all these years. Put Jeter in KC and see how many rings he wins :D Beltran certainly did all he could for Houston in his 1st (yes 1st) postseason. Houston wouldn't even have sniffed the WS without him.

To pay alot for that type of player does not bother me in the least, especially considering many players who don't have all the 5 tools are paid more (Giambi, Jeter, Ramirez, Sosa, etc) . This is a great signing for the Mets and considering they probably aren't done, will propel them to a great season now that they have a GM that knows what he's doing. Remember, he's the same GM who fleeced the Yankees for Javier Vazquez.... 0:)

  7. Disagree.  Look at the Mets the last 5 years with what they have tried to accomplish with F/A signing.  The foundation of a good team starts with the pitching and the bull pen.  They singed Glavine and thats about it....  They signed Pedro and......  Again no bull pen.  Pedro is a 6 inning pitcher at best.  Glavine had a great career in Atlanta partly because of his bull pen and the fact that he is a great pitcher.  My point being 1 out fielder isn't going lto turn this franchise around over night.  It's a team sport and even if Beltran ends up going there it doesn't make a difference in their record at all.  They will still end up under 500.  Due to the fact that they have no relievers, middle relievers or closers.  This team is sad and it reminds me a alot of what Daniel Snyder has been trying to do with the Redskins for the past 5 years.  Pathetic!

Actually, I would equate the Yankees and the Redskins. The Yankees spend more money than anyone else and still don't win, both owners are jerks, and they both like over-the-hill and overpriced players. Sounds like more of a match to me.

  8. Make no mistake the Yankees would like Carlos Beltran, but there does come a time when even they have a limit , one could only imagine all the new diapers needed if they ever had signed him.......

    199205[/snapback]

Yeah, they already use all the diapers they can find on ARod...He probably would throw a fit if all the diapers weren't for him anymore :)

  9. Yankees fans are just upset and can't vent their frustration in the right place. Blame gluttonous George boys!

Until the Yankees go back to developing their team like they did when they won their rings instead of overpaying for every steroid freak and/or aging "superstar" they will never win the World Series again. They may make the playoffs, but are doomed to be exposed in embarrassing fashion just like the last 4 years.

No heart (ARod, Giambi, Vazquez, etc, etc) will never equal the quality team players they had in Brosius, Oneill, younger Tino, etc.

Sorry guys, but get used to the disappointment!

  10. I wonder why this was posted at all. It was the biggest foregone conclusion in history. The thing that Yankees fans need to worry about is the fact that they probably have the oldest team in professional sports history. They are bound to break down any time. They will then be on the hook for major, unmovable contracts. Also they have seen what steroids can do to their players. Giambi is worthless now and how long before all the roids Sheffield took catch up with him?
