  1. I am really not lobbying for Cameron, just noting that there could be a connection. As for personnel decisions, I'm pretty sure it was GM Rany Mueller and not Cam Cameron who chose Ginn over Brady.

At the PR when the Ginn pick was anounced by Cameron, he said "I KNOW TED GINN & the entire Ginn family, he will be a GREAT player for the Miami Dolphins" I'm pretty sure Cam played a role in that pick.

  2. Fair enough. My reading comprehension is just fine, but you have to admit, that was a bit convoluted of an explanation. :bag:

My understanding of the Peter Principle is that only incompetents are promoted to management because organizations can't afford to let people that actually know what they are doing move away from the key functions of an organization.

The Peter Principle is a competent person keeps getting promoted until they finally reach a position they are no longer competent to hold.

A perfect example is an NFL Coach that is a GREAT positon coach, promoted to OC or DC as the case may be, is a GREAT Coordinator then when promoted to HC is a TERRIBLE HC.

  3. Virtually all those guys won national championships and were flops, they all won Heisman's and were flops. Besides, thats a ridiculous question any way. I could just as easily justify drafting anyone named "Montana" by asking, can you name me an NFL QB named "Montana" that hasn't made it to the hall of fame? Winning the heisman especially is just about the worst justification you could give for drafting a guy in the first round.

Tell me how many heisman's Jim Kelly won? How many national championships did Marino win? Winning those is no more proof of NFL success than not winning them is proof that a player won't make it in the pros. Kelly and Marino didn't have the college resume that Tebow has but they had some things that he doesn't. Like an NFL caliber arm.

I know it would be a great lollipops and unicorns story for Tebow to go on to greater success, no one likes to see a great story end. But that is what the NFL is for a lot of players save a lucky few, where their dreams come to an end.

Yes there have been Heisman winners that were flops in the NFL & NOT just at the QB position. FEW College QB's have won the amount of awards Tebow has won while setting records that will stand for a long time like 20 passing TD's & 20 rushing TD's in the same year. To just dismiss one of the GREATEST college players EVER & call him a bust before he is drafted is just STUPID.

  4. While I get the point you are trying to make, Florida only won 2 SEC championships with Tebow on the team.

And to play devils advocate, I could argue Tebow wasn't the starting QB for the first one of the NC and the SECC.

My mistake he only won the SEC East 3 times. You could argue that but I could counter with the fact that as a true freshman he saw a lot of playing time.

  5. Cameron is another Dick Jauron, some one who is a good coordinator but cannot make Personnel decisions...

His pick of Ted Ginn Jr over Brady Quinn cost them that season and where is Beck and Lemons now....

That has to be the Fins WORST draft EVER & I doubt they ever come close to having a draft that bad again.

Cameron is a good OC but TERRIBLE HC.

  6. Oh please, Trent worked his butt off and so did JP, work ethic alone won't get it done. Kelly spent more time enjoying life than he ever did drilling on mechanics or studying film. This team simply can't afford to gamble their high picks away on a player like Tebow. Every pick is a gamble but this guy more so than a number of other QB's we might have a shot of taking. Tebow is the Gerry McNamara of football. So many reasons to love the guy but the reality is that he is a highy questionable NFL prospect.

I am not saying the Bills should draft him & he does have question marks BUT to just write him off is CRAZY. I don't think you will show me too many QB's that have won the awards Tebow did in college & put up the numbers he did PERIOD.

  7. Building through the Draft, putting money into your current roster rather than FA, possibly switching to the 3-4... Sounds like the Packers for the last 4 years. Just be prepared for a long ride. Though it is effective if done correctly, it takes a couple seasons to complete, and thats if you make good decisions in the draft. Luckily it seems these next two drafts will be loaded with talent.

I like the idea, and am happy with Nix. But its de javu all over again

I hope the difference will be a STEADY IMPROVEMENT in the next couple years rather than CONTINUED mediocrity.

  8. History is absolutely littered with college QB's with great numbers, championships, awards, etc., who were colossal flops in the NFL. Tebow is simply the latest version of that.

OK Mickey name me all the other college QB's that won a Heisman, 2 National Championships, 3 Conference Championships ( The TOUGHEST conference in the nation by the way) Outstanding player of the game in his final bowl game that were colossal flops.

  9. Throwing motion is a huge flaw to have also Tebow could just be a product of being on a great team as well. And give me a break with all this he cares and has passion BS most NFL QB's care about winning a lot and probably just as much as football Jesus Tim Tebow. With few exceptions you don't get to be a QB in the NFL without working hard and caring about winning.

B.S. MANY NFL QB's including Trent would rather spend the offseason working on their golf game than their football game. Tebow has a PASSION for FOOTBALL that Trent does not have & many others do not have. He also has a great work ethic so he will work on his flaws & get better. Even Jimmy Johnson & Brian Billick had to admit that Tebow is a GREAT College QB so he is not just the product of a great team. He will be remembered as one of the greatest College players EVER.

  10. Exactly why I think he needs to sit the bench for a year or 2 to learn a system and work on his throwing mechanic. There have been QB's in the NFL that have shortened their release point a bit throughout their careers so if you can get a coach who will work with him while a vet holds down the fort I think Tebow might have a future in the NFL. As I said I think Tebow just needs the right situation to be an NFL QB.

If Tebow gets drafted as a starter on a rebuilding team he will get eaten alive and his confidence will get shattered. There are a lot of flaws to his game that will get exposed if he isn't in the right situation. He does have a lot to work with if you build him up right.

How many QB's come out of College with NO flaws? What will seperate Tebow from the others is his work ethic & the fact he has a passion for the game unlike some who would rather spend the offseason playing golf.

  11. We are done with Trent. He was Jauron and Levy's guy. New gm new coaching staff = new qb. Not to mention the fan revolt that would ignite. I like the thought of Jimmy Claussen...cold weather qb. Bring in CW as the OC. Trade back up to 1st rnd and grab a LT DT or LB, whichever they determine is the most pressing need.

    See Buddy this is easy!!!!!

Claussen may not be on the board when the Bills pick. Not always so easy. If not for Pitt, Big Ben would be a Bill.

  12. I don't want Marty Shottenheimer as our next coach. He is old, out of touch with the current league, and doesn't win in the playoffs. If Nix was hired to entice Marty to be our next coach, I'm done with Bills football and will concentrate my time on the Buffalo Bulls who hired an energetic, no nonsense coach and appear to be heading in the right direction.

The big question is whether or not Nix has any type of past relationship with Bill Cowher or Russ Grimm.

We don't need a GM and Coach who were recently in retirement. This didn't work with Levy, so why do we continue to look to the elderly for this teams future? I have nothing against old people, but we need some younger fresh energy in this organization.

The GM is like a CEO you DO want an older EXPERIENCED guy in that position. Dick Vermeil was an old retired Coach out of football for FIFTEEN years before becoming the Rams HC in 1997.

It didn't work out with Williams or Mularkey so why go with a young guy?

  13. In a Hierarchy Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence.

The old Peter principal. Lets look at it, Russ is back where he belongs on the BUSINESS side which he does VERY well. Buddy was assistant GM with S.D. I don't think it is that big a jump from assistant GM to GM, but we will see. I like what he had to say at the PR.

  14. The Bills should have hired a fresh set of eyes at GM from another team that's actually built a Super Bowl Champion, but what's done is done. At least Nix has a strong resume. The Brandon promotion ticks me off, he should NOT be the CEO of the franchise which gives him final say on decisions, including those in the football department.

First off, Brandon has been WAYYY overrated. There was nothing impressive about the TO signing. It sold tickets, so what? Anybody could have made a simple move like that. The Toronto thing is a joke, it was more Rogers throwing money around trying to get an NFL team. Brandon has done a terrible job making it successful and has been nothing short of embarrassing. And let's be honest, ticket sales are more about loyal fans trying to keep their team here, not genius marketing.

That said, Brandon is a glorified used car salesman who got on Wilson's good side and was happy to pose in pictures with TO and be front and center in the offseason taking credit wherever he could, but once the team became an embarrassment vanished behind closed doors and took no accountability.

Nix reporting to Brandon is laughable, a salesman with no football knowledge will have final say on all football decisions.

That folks is the worst thing that could have happened, just next to Brandon playing make believe as a GM the last 2 years where the team has played the worst football seen in 20 years. In the end, I'm convinced they went with Nix because no serious outside GM/Coach would share power with a guy like Brandon. The Bills would have been better off dropping Brandon and going after serious GM.

Nix was assistant GM for the CHARGERS until just before the last draft. That is fresh enough for me.

I guess there are some people in HELL that if offered Ice Cream would complain about the flavor.

  15. :flirt: i hate these effen things

the 3rd decision he needs to make after finding the right head coach and establishing his plan on improving the QB position is to get rid of these darn awful uniforms

we have done nothing but lose in these things

make the current throwbacks the permanent uniforms and the Kelly era unis the new throwback design <_<

    next stop- CHAMPIONSHIP!
