  1. Yeah, I'm getting a bit sick of all the "rah rah" posts any time someone dares post something negative about the Bills' offseason. No, we all know it's not over yet, but at least from where I'm sitting the Bills have managed a good upgrade to one very important area while creating a number of holes to fill. I'm skeptical at this point that they'll manage to fill them all in satisfactory fashion.

Just because someone points this out doesn't mean they're not a fan and I wish people would stop with the content-free bashing of any post that isn't rainbows and sunshine.

    amen to that

  2. Will these Bills never fail to look for reasons to drive their fans crazy? I mean, this is sheer madness. Even Kelsay couldnt believe how crazy this deal is! I thought the price for Josh Reed was crazy but this is just beyond description. I can only imagine what Takeo Spikes will be thinking when we lose Clements and Fletcher, and overpay to keep Kelsay

  3. Guys, I would like to say that we need to show some restraint especially when it comes to the written word and reported speech. Willis is clearly a goofy person. I have met him on numerous occasions and even his teammates will tell you that he is a strange bird. From the short excerpts that I have read on the WGR website, we dont know the tone that was used when he made those supposed comments and the context in which it was used.

He is a weird cat, and also not the most intelligent, especially when you factor in his, "Didnt know it was fourth down" comment from the first NEW England game. Nevertheless, let us run away from the expected, "Get Him Out of town", mob action that everyone expects us to adopt.

And simply say, "it's Willis" and roll our eyes and move on. The guy is clearly an idiot but it is no need for us to get so bent out of shape which is what those two clowns Bulldog and Shoppe want

  4. Wow you do realize that most people on this board were able to watch the Bills vs. Lucky Charms game? And FWIW Freeney beat a TE for a sack in that game, which is below the food chain in respects to a #3 or 4 tackle.

LOL........I am taking my time from watching OSU/Florida to laugh at some of you guys here.

So, you are talking about a game in which the Bills ran almost exclusively and when they passed, double teamed Freeney and went on three step drops to compare both defensive linemen? hahahahahahahaha

Wow! Funny thing is that you more or less made my case. As soon as the Bills dared to be brave and dumb at the same time, Freeney made them pay and promptly dumped JP for a loss, which made the missed FG longer than it should have been. Now that's the mark of an All-Pro: Making plays when they count the most.

And for you and the others who want to make empty headed arguments, Freeney's numbers were down mostly because teams chose to run, rather than pass against the COlts. And when they did pass, it was mostly quick throws, where he was either cut blocked or double teamed!

Last time I checked, no one bothered doing that to our pro bowl defensive end

  5. Hold on, hold on, guys lets take a chill pill here.

You guys are embarassing a great town and a great team in Buffalo and the Bills.

Just because I think our #94 is overrated, I am being called an Indy fan :pirate: and a troll? You guys have got to be kidding me. Like I said before, 10 years of braving the snow and other elements to make it out to the Ralph dont count because of one overrated defensive end.

Only in Buffalo!! No wonder we got mocked nationally

  6. I might be mistaken, but I think you found the definition of a troll.

    Troll?

Another empty headed comment. Just because I believe that Schobel is overrated and is always on the missing persons list when we need him the most, makes me a troll in your tiny world?

Wow, with logic like that, I am almost considering throwing away over 20 years of being a Bills fan, and the 10 years of showing up at every home game at the Ralph regardless of snow, hail, or sunshine ;)

  7. U think we had a chance to beat the Ravens. They're way too good.

Hate to disagree with you but the Bills more than held their own against that "way too good team"!

And barring two bad int's by JP and an underthrown pass to Royal, the Bills might have taken that game. And Lord knows that the Bills are not an elite team by any stretch of the imagination, consequently, if you just manage to beat the Bills by a few plays then I cannot consider you an elite team.

In the same vein, however, i wouldnt want to be a QB facing that defense on the road in January :)

  8. If we are going to continue with the same defensive tackles and scheme, we should not re-sign London Fletcher. He is simply too small at MLB to play in this scheme, which accounts for our horrific run defense.

MLB's of his size need big Buddha's in the middle, who draw double teams and prevent the guards and centers from shooting out to block him.

If we stay with our present tackles then we need a bigger MLB with the size of a Jeremiah Trotter who can take on and shed blocks from Centers and guards.

Nevertheless, it will still be sad to see Fletch leave because he was a true warrior for this team

  9. Judging a defensive player solely by their total number of sacks is like judging a shooting guard's status solely by their points per game or a quarterback solely by their passing yards.

For instance, if I said Shooting Guard X is a scoring machine because he averaged 30 points per game, without telling you that he takes 40 shots a game and makes only about 12 of them! Does that still make him a great two-guard. Of Course not!

The same way I can talk about a QB if I judge him solely by passing yards!

Hell, a QB's team could have been trailing by 35 points entering the fourth qtr and he could mount three drives against back-ups and prevent defenses and tally about 200 yards plus the 70 he had coming into the quarter, giving him 270!

Does that mean he had a very good game? Of course not. Hell, use those numbers over 16 weeks and we are talking about over 4000 yards of passing for the season!

Consequently, when Schobel racks up meaningless sacks in garbage time and against back-ups and rookies, and then someone comes to here to brag about his numbers, well sorry, I am not buying it, cuz I have watched this guy be ineffective when it counted the most!

Simple as that! And, oh, by the way..........Go Bills!

  10. Yes he was doubled a lot, also take into consideration McNair doesn't get sacked often, I think he is somewhere near 5 games in a row without. Adam Terry was good at SU, he was a 2nd round pick for a reason. To say that Schobel didn't deserve going to the pro bowl didn't see the game, they were in a two tight end set most of the game because of Schobel...Unless they typically run a two TE set, which just means I am wrong, either way, schobel deserves going to the pro bowl, how can you call yourself a fan and not want him in the pro bowl?

    Double teamed a lot!!!!

R U for real! Sorry but I dont what game you were watching!

The fact of the matter is that Schobel is not even a top-10 pass rusher in this league and I can name of the top of my head, a number of edge rushers who rate much higher than him and force offensive game plans to be made to contain them.....

    Julius Peppers

    Shawn Merriman

    Jason Taylor

    Dwight Freeney

    Michael Strahan

    DeMarcus Ware

    Shaun Philips

    Mike Rucker

Trevor Pryce......If you doubt ask anyone of Bills lineman who they would rather block, especially after Sunday

    Roosevelt Colvin

    Leonard Little

    Simeon Rice

    Julian Peterson

  11. Actually a look at the game stats seems to indicate that about the same thing happened yesterday to the sackless Freeney that happened to the sackless Schobel (Freeney managed to log a mere two tackles compared to Schobel's mere one tackle though the Miami offense was shredded for 115 yards by Tins leading rusher Ronnie Brown compared to 69 for Lewis.

In the big picture since drawing season long conclusions based on one game is foolish, Schobel simply produced way more sacks than Freeney this year. As sacks are an important but not the only or main indicator of performance, the fact Schobel also registered more tackles than Freeney and that Freeney was historically bad for him in registering lower marks in virtually all categories, it seems pretty clear that Schobel had a better year than Freeney and is a far better pick for the Pro bowl this year than Freeney playing in a hapless Indy D which once again is dragging this team down.

And Buffalo's defense is carrying the team? LOL.....

Please whoever claimed to watch that game and saw multiple double teams on Schobel needs some Lasik Eye Care immediately. The guy is overrated, and I cant believe that a stud like Nate Clements isnt on the pro bowl while Schobel is. I mean, he used to feast on rookies and back-ups, but yesterday couldnt even do that much.

    Whatever

  12. LOL........

    Here's what happened.........

"Buffalo's pass rush never came close to Baltimore's aging quarterback Steve McNair. Rookie Tackle Adam Terry dominated Bills defensive end Aaron Schobel, who was named a starter in the upcoming pro bowl, limiting him to a mere tackle and no sacks."

Wow, but of course, he is much better than Dwight Freeney ;)

  13. This is going to happen when YOU CANT RUN THE BALL

    \

    True that :worthy:

As good as the Ravens may think they are, I really think that the Bills lost it for themselves. Take away the few bad plays and the Bills are right there with a serious chance to win this one.

    Ughhh :lol::thumbsup:

  14. I guess some things will never change. Rather than have a simple discussion of the issues it is the usual corny insult or the "How many posts have you had line". To which I just chuckle and count that as another tired mind with a tired argument.

I have already spent enough time on another thread talking in depth about Schobel being vastly overrated, just like Phil Hansen before him.

That's another guy that should build an altar to Bruce Smith, because as soon as Bruce was gone his inadequacies were exposed.

Am i saying Schobel is a terrible player? No, far be it from that.

But highly overrated and undeserving of the Pro Bowl? You betcha.

  15. I just hate these type of fans who use a loss to just hate on a player they just don't like. I mean if JP runs for the 1st down or Lindell kicks the Fg then you wouldn't have nothing to say about AS. The Bills and their players have hard enough time as it is getting respect outside Western NY; it's bad enough when the fans within bash our only few good players!

My position on Schobel today has always been the same. He majors on minors, and minors on majors.

He is a big time player when it counts the least

On the other hand, I think Jauron has done a credible job, and JP will be a serviceable QB. I also hope that he learns to show more composure and poise when he breaks containment from the pocket.

He seems to trip over himself whenever he leaves the pocket and indecisive on whether to run or pass, in contrast to V-Young who seems so composed and comfortable in or outside of the pocket.

I can only imagine what they are thinking in Houston for allowing this guy and Reggie Bush to go to other teams

  16. STFU.

    .....and Merry Christmas.

You know, resorting to insults, rather than simply re-inforcing your argument is a clear sign of a tired mind. You have the right to disagree with my position but I guess u lack the vocabulary or the intelligence to do nothing more than throw around four letter words.

I am sure Mom and Dad are proud of you

  17. LOL........So for all of you that voted for our pro-bowl defensive end, I hope he rewarded y'all with big time plays in the biggest game of the year, yesterday :doh:

Please, Schobel is a joke and a fraud. When the chips were down, he was invisible. In fact the only time he was even noticed was when he was committing a face mask penalty on 3rd down, which would have forced the Titans to punt into the wind from inside their own 10 yard line.

Like I said, the man is highly overrated :D

  18. Using similar logic, wouldn't Freeney's sack numbers be inflated then, because teams are passing more late in the game; therefore a certain percentage of Freeney's sacks would be "garbage time" sacks.  Therefore, Schobel is actually a better pass rusher than Freeney, because he has fewer oppurtunities per game to rush the passer.

    874177[/snapback]

LOL.........You give Schobel the same type of respect that opposing offensive lines give Freeney and he would be lucky to have two quarterback pressures, talk less of a sack, for the whole season!

Come on guys we're all Bills fans here but this is ridiculous. Schobel is a good player but he is not in the same league as Freeney! Come on guys.........Puleeeze

  19. I'll admit that Aaron Schobel is not in the same class as Dwight Freeney but they do offer similar things in what they can and can not do. Although he hasn't registered them this year I think Freeney's a far better pass rusher yet if you look at their stats it would appear that Schobel's a far better run supporter having registered 346 tackles in his career compared to Freeney's 174. At the same time I think your comparison is too harsh. Schobel is argueably one of the top 10 - 15 DEs in the NFL where Freeny probably ranks in the top 5.

I cant really argue with anything you have said. Nevertheless, you can't accurately assess each players' strength based on their tackles. Because, unllike Buffalo, most of Indy's opponents dont run as much because they are usually trailing and have to play catch up.

And when we are talking about tackles, I believe it is much easier to tackle someone when you are single-teamed, rather than double-teamed or have slide-protection moved towards whatever side of the field you are lined up on.

Last time I checked, no team ever double teamed or slid their protection towards Schobel.........And dare I say that there have been few times in the past seasons that teams have had to abandon their run and air-it-out because they were stuck in a points-hole because of Buffalo's high-octane, high scoring offense!...........But aside from that I generally say that your assessment is fair and on-point
