  1. Never felt so good about a loss?

That's exactly what the Bills biggest problem is. Like you, they accept losing... and even feel good about it.

When you have players that hate to lose they find ways to win. When you have players that are OK with losing, they have no reason (or will) to win. The game check is still the same.

I'm not exactly Mr. Sunshine, but when we go out there perform like we did against a serious superbowl contender, yeah, there is something to feel good about.

  2. Fitzpatrick's current stats extrapolated over an entire season:

    3880 YDS 44 TDS 16 INT

.......now I realize that the chances of Fitz reaching these numbers are slim to none, but you can't deny it's fun to speculate.....especially considering how terrible our QB production has been over the years.

Yeah, all signs point to a "hot streak" for him, but it's downright fun to watch

  3. In fact, there is a penalty for "assisting in the forward progress of the ball carrier" or something to that effect. If a player gets pushed BACK, they call it dead by forward progress, but if he's held up for three seconds, THEN gets pushed forward then they allow it? I don't get it.

Nothing to really get; at best, refs were incompetent. At worst, they were dirty. That's why I'm not even mad about the Hangartner move - if he didn't throw it off, the refs would have found something else.

  4. You can't compare cigarettes to food. Cigarettes actually contain toxic chemicals and powerfully deadly ingredients, on purpose! And it's not a secret!

Just cuz you choose to smoke doesn't mean I should have to breathe in the deadly 2nd hand crap that came out of your lungs as I walk by. That's disgusting.

You're right about food vs smoking. Let's try vehicle emissions vs smoking, or 1 coal plant vs all the smoking in the world. Why isn't the government so hot on banning coal power or petroleum based power (or taxing it out of existence)? Any politician running on a "ban all cars" platform wouldn't get very far, and would be labeled a nutjob, or throw-away vote.

My point is that smoking bans are inconsistent, and priorities are out of whack. We can go on forever talking about it, but attacking smoking isn't all about health and the greater good. The government doesn't shrink it's wallet, it shrinks yours (at least in NY).

Personally, I avoid smoking around people out of respect, and I respect your opinion man.

Let me get to the point of this thread though (lol, a bit off track with the stuff above). Stragnely enough, as a privately owned stadium, I have no problem with banning smoking there. I don't like it, and think the rationale is bull, but it's their choice to deny service.

  5. Good. Smoking is a filthy and disgusting habit.

I think it's ridiculous that a human being would purchase an expensive product that is extremely unhealthy and toxic for you. A product that has endless research and studies behind it that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that it is bad for your health and can kill you. And yet people keep buying them. There's certainly something to be said for the power of addiction, but come on! This sh*t'll kill you.

First of all, I want to preface this by saying I'm not personally attacking anyone (just got done reading the TG/Leonidas thread).

Go to the supermarket and read any of the labels on the food you buy. Or look at reports on the tolerances of pollutants the government allows in drinking water. Or read a report on the chemicals and hormones in meat. I'm willing to bet you don't raise your own food and herd your own animals, so I'm pretty sure you've ingested some sort of mass-produced food. The crap they put in there is a hell of a lot more likely to kill you then second hand smoke (or so the most recent medical research on obesity says on any google search).

What about people who don't like the smell of smoke period? Banning all grills that create smoke would make for one hell of a lame tailgate. How about banning SUVs? The list goes on and on.

People need to wake up and wise up. When the tax revenue from cigarettes is gone, they'll be coming for the Barney the barfly and Lenny the lardo (or even little kids for soda and juice).

  6. I'm not so sure about all of the Cow-love. If I remember correctly, this organization has tried to import a few of the people at least partially responsible for Pittsburgh's success over the years, and we all know the results (Mularkey, Donahoe). To be honest, Cowher's record doesn't really impress me that much, and I'm not so sure that he can really turn this thing around.

Taking an objective look at the team we have, any coach worth his salt (and any blind guy for that matter) can see that our offense is abysmal, and will work to address our issues there. Our strengths (yes we do have some) are that we have a very young team, and a defense with the potential to be dominant.

If we take the perspective that we need to teach young guys how to play the game, there's no better candidate in my mind than Marty Schottemheimer. He is a teacher and a proven winner with multiple franchises.

If we lean more towards building a dominant defense and a competent offense, I believe Brain Billick has won a Super Bowl using that formula (my God, Trent Dilfer walks around with a Super Bowl ring!).

Looking a little closer, I'm not so sure Cowher is so worthy of a highway sign.
