  1. This was posted on the Buffalo Bills Coalition (www.nflfans.com/bills) on April 15, 2004.

Drew Bledsoe is the starter and will not be challenged for his job this year. The Bills have yet to pencil in the name of his backup but a veteran QB is thought to be on the Bills shopping list. There are four potential first round quarterbacks in the draft. Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger will be long gone by the time the Bills pick at thirteen. Philip Rivers may not be on the board either, depending on what the Steelers do at eleven, leaving only J.P. Losman for first round consideration. Coach Mike Mularkey and Co. are looking to put in a "West Coast Hybrid" offense and the streaky Losman may not be a great fit. Losman has had trouble in the short area and hasn’t developed the touch or field vision of the top three prospects. With Roethlisberger and Manning projected to go in the top five, the Bills face a Rivers or bust proposition at QB in the first round. Later round prospect Matt Schaub could do quite well in the new offense. Schaub has the ability to read defenses, check off and spot the ball for receivers but he has a weak arm for a pro and is not first round graded. Phillip Rivers, in many ways, would be the best QB on the entire board for Buffalo and there is at least a chance he will still be around at thirteen.

    2004 NFL DRAFT

#74 Buffalo Tim Anderson DT Ohio State

#90 Atlanta Matt Schaub QB Virginia

Looking back...would you rather have Anderson or Schaub? Interesting Losman comments!

  2. Why is Vincent on IR. The DC reported that this injury could sideline him for only 3-4 weeks. Why not put him on the PUP and evaluate his status then? We resigned Leonhard to fill the void, but why cut bait until they have a better idea of how severe the injury is?

My only thought process it Whitner is ready to step up and we don't need him.

    Thoughts?

  3. Van Pelt weighing options

<Sep. 13> Van Pelt, cut by the Broncos on Sept. 2, has a workout scheduled in Seattle and has also drawn interest from Buffalo, according to The Denver Post.

"There is a fine line between an NFL signal caller and a guy on the street," Van Pelt said. "I just have to get back in the league."

Van Pelt, Denver's No. 2 quarterback from much of last season, said he has opportunities to play in the CFL, but the former seventh-round pick is not interested in going that route.

This tells me that Nall will be named #2 and we are shopping a #3 QB. If this goes down, I see Holcomb to the Chargers, but they are looking to sign Volek. The only opening would be KC if Green is out for more than 1 week or the Raiders.

I'd send Holcomb to the Raiders with a 2nd round pick for Porter!

  4. I can care less if this has been mentioned, but the officials need to mask the phantom calls that directly impact games.

    JAGUARS vs. COWBOYS

Gave the Cowboys a new life at the end of the game after an interception was reviewed (within 2 minutes remaining) and was ruled an incomplete play. The right call should have been inconculsiv, as no angle shows the ball on the turf and it was ruled an interception.

    GIANTS vs. COLTS

Eli on the way down the field to take the lead in the 4th and there is offensive pass interference because the receiver lifted his elbow?

    BILLS vs. PATRIOTS

No way the officilas were letting the PATS lose. The Pats had 1 penalty for 5 yards...ARE YOU KIDDING ME...1 penalty!

The call on Clements was weak...what if the flag was not for the Clements block? What if it was on NE...they tried to negate a touchdown!

If CLements laid off...Bills 24, Patriots 19...think about it!

  5. Disclaimer: This is not a Jauron bash!

I noticed the 1st preseason game @ Carolina that it was quite warm and I didn't pay much attention to the fact that Jauron was wearing a turtle neck and long sleeves! Carolina in August is humid as I lived there for 3 years!

It wasn't until I watched the Browns game, when Tasker said in the open, that it was a hot and humid evening in Buffalo and Jaron was wearing a turtle neck and long sleeves again!

Again...just making conversation, found it very strange!

  6. Have to ask for input, please be gentle!

Charles Rogers may be released by the Lions...I think this would be a solid corp of receivers.

    1. Evans

    2. Price

    3. Rogers

    4. Parrish

    5. Davis

    6. Aiken

    Thoughts?

Lastly, we have the cap room...why not make a move for Collins, he would be a significant upgrade to Holcomb, as I was far from impressed by his performance in the preseason.
