  1. They would rather re-sign Levitre and franchise Byrd because the franchise tag price for a safety is about $3 Million less than a guard.

Of course if they can't re-sign Levitre before free agency than it will be interesting to see which one they franchise if either...

I think they will work harder to keep Byrd but keeping both is imperative for the so called rebuilding project.

  2. Some of you know I lost my brother in the world trade center on 9/11. A family member of a victim that thinks about the fateful day every day. The thought of it never crossed my mind during or after Stevie's celebration...

He was mocking the football team, not mocking a real plane crash...

Blame Stevie for getting called for a penalty that hurt the team or for dropping the pass but to say he's insensitive to 9/11 is a bit much...

  3. Love the green "updated"! lol I've been to your site for over ten years!

Thanks again everyone! Yes I do it for the love it and for the devoted following it has. I'm not one to worry about how many hits the site gets or being technically perfect like people that do it for a living. I do it for the best fans in the world as does Scott here at TBD...

  4. After reflection of my own sports writing experience, I know I responded in haste.

Having sports writing aspirations from a young age, years later I was finally given an opportunity with a fairly well-known website, which also included being a contributing writer to an annual publication.

My experiences are from a different viewpoint. After receiving about as many redlines to a submitted article as the keystrokes required to write the original, and seeing a final product looking much different from what was submitted, my pursuit of a "dream' soon ended.

In the age of the internet, blogs, etc. sports writing has become a thankless activity whose compensation is only one's enjoyment & pride in what they've written.

I cannot really relate to the frustrations involved in an obligation to provide daily updates.

Again, I apologize for being too quick to criticize without considering all of the factors for those involved.

    No worries... Apology accepted

  5. If you don't like it, don't read it. And put your money where your mouth is, if you think you can do better, by all means, make your own site. You sound like you're taking grammar mistakes personal!

Here's a guy who takes time out of his busy life to maintain a website devoted to the Buffalo Bills and their fans. Respect that passion and commitment. It's a great site.

I'm feeling the love! Thanks guys!

  6. Crybaby. If anything I was being a harsh critic.

Sorry you can't get past by occasional typo and yes I know how to spell Buffalo but obviously I made a typo.

My attitude with the site, which as Avenger points out I do mostly by myself by hand, is to get the information out to the people in a concise form so people can quickly get the latest news on the Bills. I summarize everything myself instead of just providing links so if you don't have time to read articles you can get a quick blurb and move on...

Sometimes in my haste to get things up while living my normal life of raising a family and work I do make a mistake that I don't catch. I'm sorry you can't get past that...

I do welcome an e-mail when I make a mistake at webmaster@billsdaily.com and I will correct it instead of getting flamed for providing information to fans for the past 12 years as a hobby.

BTW, I fixed the typo on the homepage.

  7. I think it's up to $279.95...before the HD add-on fee.

And is it just me, or do they purposely make the non-HD games look chittier now that HD is available? I've noticed you can't even clearly make out the names on the scoreboard in the corner half the time anymore. Gotta say, that's one of the things I'm most looking forward to when the lockout hits...DirecTV still paying the NFL Billions despite having no games. D-bags deserve it, too...

I've noticed that the colors flare on the SD stuff on NFL Sunday ticket only but the other SD stuff is fine so I get what you are saying...

It sucks because I can't get HD on DirecTV because I have trees in the way. (I get a fine signal in SD but the HD satellite is lower in the sky). I only have HD on cable so only games broadcast locally I can get in HD

  8. I don't disagree with their grade, really. I don't absolutely hate the Maybin pick, but I do have concerns about his lack of experience as well as his lack of size. The next several picks were all good, but then the CB picks to me were wastes. Overall, I think its a C draft, maybe a C+. There's potential for it to go higher depending on Maybin, but that pick scares me and combined with the two throwaway picks at the end, I'm only cautiously optimistic about this draft. Additionally, I'm very concerned that they've done nothing through FA and now the draft to address one of the worst run defenses in the NFL over the last four years.

That said, I do like this draft more than some may think just given the grade. I tend to grade pretty harshly and 'C' grade from me isn't bad at all.

I gave it that grade because they now have a glut at the middle of the offensive line and in a defensive backfield while having glaring holes at offensive tackle, didn't get any help at defensive tackle, and more importantly five players are tweeners... Most tweeners fail in the NFL because they aren't good enough at either position that they are in between.

Also, how are four players going to get used to the NFL and a new position at the same time?

As I say it's way too early to really tell and I hope I'm proven wrong but recent draft history suggests that I may be more on the money than I hope..

  9. They kind of lost the benefit of the doubt about 10 years ago or so. They used to draft well, but that history is getting more-and-more ancient. You could argue that the Bills were one of the best drafting teams in the mid-to-late 80's and early 90's, but that reputation has faded away. It's really living in the past to give this current front office the benefit of the doubt based on any long-running history. The Donahoe era was pretty bad, and it's looking like the brief Levy era was less-than-stellar.

However, recent history is another story. So far, the 2007 & 2008 drafts are looking fairly good, so based on THAT, I will give the current front office the benefit of the doubt this year that they will make smart decisions.

Remember I did that almost 10 years ago... when the draft reputation was still good.. I also say about my draft grades every year that they are done a bit tongue and cheek since you can't really grade a draft for a few years but everyone does it right after the draft so I do it too... You just can't take it too seriously...

  10. I couldn't either but I figured there was people who were more familiar with the web site. I thought it was kind of strange myself when they didn't provide a link.

I always do links separately at the bottom of the homepage...

  11. There are Jewish fans in EVERY NFL city. Why is New York so special? Is it somehow more correct to have the Eagles play home on both of those dates instead?

There are jewish fans in every NFL city but their are more jewish people in the New York area than anywhere in the country. There are actually more Jews in the NYC area than in Israel! That is why it's a bigger deal in NY than elsewhere...

There is a difference between Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashannah and Christmas.. As BillsNYC said if you are religious you can't do anything on these days especially go to a game let along watch it.. If you celebrate Christmas there is nothing to stop you from going to a game for religious reasons...

Since Yom Kippur doesn't start until sundown on Sunday I bet the league will move the Sept. 27th game to 1pm. and they will be stuck with the Rosh Hashannah game.

That being said everyone needs to make their own choices... I'm Jewish but I hardly practice... I will be watching both Bills games that weekend and may even make the trip to buffalo for one of those games... Others would choose not too.

  12. Was just watching NFL Network panel (and it was live), including Adam Shefter, and they said for Coles to turn down $6 million in guaranteed money from the Jets means he must have a deal in place already with another team.

What amazes me is that Shefter says he's not visiting any teams today and hasn't been confirmed anywhere. Lombardi goes on to say that he would expect him to be in Miami right now but he hasn't confirmed it.

What planet are these guys on? How could NFL Network, Shefter especially, not know Coles is in Buffalo right now?

    That's pretty bad.

It's pretty bad but I'm listening to music and watching Lindsay Soto on NFL Network... she's hot

  13. I don't think that Burnett would be a bad signing at all. I haven't really seen much of him since he's been in Dallas, but I remember watching alot of Tennessee games when he was in college. He's a very athletic with good enough strength to be an every down LB.

I think they should bring back Leonhard... They never thought they would lose him last year and now he's developed

  14. hey who runs that site?..says steve saslow, but I tried to send him an email and it was returned saying email doesnt exist...If you can read this Steve...my ocd wont let me look at your depth chart any longer..you have "red" designated for rookies and yet you have Terrence McGee and Fred Jackson in red under special teams section...please fix this..thankyou..

Fixed the depth chart issue was a copy and paste problem that I didn't see and I fixed the contact problems I was having as well....

  15. It is possible. He is still under contract. The Bills apparently have not fired him. So Grey would have to find an NFL team that would make him at least an assistant HC or give the Bills some sort of compensation (highly unlikely on both counts I think). Or he would have to leave the NFL for the remainder of his contract -- I would assume there are some decent universities that would hire him in some capacity.

    579825[/snapback]

Actually they fine tuned those rules a little bit... He can go as any assistant coach. They changed that rule that it has to be a promotion because teams were making up fake titles.. Since the Bills gave him permission to look around I doubt they would get compensation.
