Scoring 30+ points in a loss is getting old.
Getting old? It has happened twice this year and we are still 21st in the league in scoring. Although the offense may be ahead of the defense, it's not that far ahead. We still need talent on both sides of the ball and I don't think we can ignore either side.

when i turned around literally seconds later my nephew was gleefully dancing right on the double yellow line in the middle of the street - and very happy to be there
i dont agree with spanking in 99% of cases. but in that instance i changed my view on a complete moratorium on spanking. if that was my kid i would have spanked him until his little butt was throbbing and beaming red. and my brother in law sure as hell did. i didnt feel sorry for my nephew one tiny bit while he was getting the **** spanked out of him. in fact, i wanted to take a few licks myself
logic doesnt get thru to children. but stinging pain sure the hell does. needless to say he stayed the hell away from that road after that
Describes exactly what is wrong with America, but probably not how you intended.

I was trying to do a "back-of-the-napkin" valuation for the Bills and I looked at the most recent Forbes list. The number that really stuck out to me was that the Bills have approximately $127 million in debt. Any idea how/why the Bills acquired so much debt?

It used to be Boy I Love Losing Superbowls.
Those were the good days. Now it's Boy I Love Lost Seasons

I prefer to think that releasing Edwards shows some confidence in Brohm and Gailey wants him taking more snaps in practice. Edwards may have preferred to be released than be the third string QB and the team granted his wish.
-
The team needs to be sold. If it's not economical to put a winner on the field in Buffalo, then the team needs to move. Before they move, I would like to see one of the groups talking about keeping the team in WNY given a shot at turning it around.
I know Mr. Wilson has said that he won't sell the team, but I'm hoping he sees the light before he "Sees The Light."

Not sure why you respond to optimism with hostility. While I understand your pessimism, I politely disagree. First there is the empirical evidence. Last year, the first string offense produced just 3 points in 4 preseason games with TE at the helm. This year the first string offense has been scoring and moving the ball down the field with some proficiency.
Then there is the coaching. Last season, AVP tried to perform the duties of Off Coordinator and QB Coach. He was clearly under-prepared and over-whelmed by the challenge. Gailey and his staff will give TE a far better game plan and have him far better prepared.
Finally there is the O Line. Your concerns are warranted. But the line should at least be better than last year. Bell, Wood and Levitre will all likely be better in their 2nd year as starters. And, at least for now, the O Line is healthy. (Cross my fingers).
Even a child can find good reason to be hopeful for an improved TE and Bills offense.
Doing your bit to return the board a better place. Great response.

Cowher wouldn't be any better than Chan. The only difference is we'd have the media slobbering over us.
PTR
One more difference - it would show that the Bills could get a coach like Cowher. Still lots of stories out there that the Bills chose Gailey because top coaches won't come to Buffalo.

minus the cost of a new stadium
Except I think the original post wanted the stadium paid by taxpayers. Of course a new stadium would increase the value of the team and cause the new owner to go further in debt anyway - but it might make it worthwhile to keep the team in Western New York - at least Ralph's heirs would make more money.
-
totally agree promo!, the stadium does have some character after all these years. in addition, it is paid for! the economic realities are going to hit the ALMIGHTY NFL soon and i think the fact there is no debt load is going to be a huge plus for the region and its ability to keep the team.
It's been talked about before, but the team only has no debt load as long as Ralph owns the team. Any new buyer will be borrowing most of the cost and the Bills will be in the same position as everyone else in the NFL (except with an old stadium unable to generate sufficient revenue to pay off the debt).

I would think the outcome would be the same. What if a legal bettor sued the NFL because a ref missed a penalty that decided the outcome of the game and therefore his wager? Of if that same bettor sued the Patriots because Brandon Merriweather grabbed a WRs jersey preventing the winning TD?
Besides the scale, how is that different than Mayer suing the NFL because "they" missed a penalty that decided the outcome of a game(s)?
Missed penalties are an expected part of the game. In my mind, the original lawsuit was dismissed because the plaintiff received the contracted entertainment, however the gambler bet on a game that was misrepresented. If you told a gambler that there will be missed penalties in the game, he would probably still make his bet; if you told him one side was filming the other team's practices outside the rules of the NFL, he probably would not make the bet or change his bet.
-
It seems the court is simply saying that the teams provided the entertainment that was promised by the ticket, but I wonder what would have happened if the case was brought against the Patriots by somebody that legally bet on the game and lost money.

One could argue that they put just as much pressure on themselves to prove their actions right. Nothing short of a super bowl victory would do so.
Maybe, but that pressure is on the coaches/management, not on the players.
-
Whether they win a super bowl this season or not, it will not be because they did or did not rest their starters (with a bye week already in place to rest) and will not change my opinion they mismanaged their chance at history.
Or they decided that the team would perform better in the playoffs and Superbowl without the additional pressure of thinking about the perfect season. Not only resting the starters physically but also mentally - allowing them to focus on one game rather than their chance at history.

A too many men on the field penalty costs the Stampeders the title. Very big ouch.
It cost the Roughriders the title - the Stampeders lost in the Western Final the week before. I was at the Grey Cup and the original winning kick, prior to the penalty for too many men, went wide right. All I could think about was the Norwood finally has some company, then the Alouettes got a second chance from 10 yards closer and Norwood stands alone again.
-
The British [yes I know it's Canada ] sure have some bland names. The "grey cup"? Oh well at least it's not "the Queens royal pudding cup" or something.
The Grey Cup is named after the man who donated it (Earl Grey) a hundred years ago. I guess it's too bad his name wasn't Earl Shazam or Earl Bling Bling so that the Cup with a hundred years of history could appeal to the hot pockets generation.

Have to contact them, see if interested, negotiate a contract....these things take a few days.
I meant earlier in the season, I don't understand why they couldn't have been looking for a "real" GM prior to firing Jauron.
-
I think it's more important to get a good GM in here first. There will be plenty of time to pick a coach. Everything I have read is that Brandon is looking for a GM before a coach.
I agree and I don't understand why we are waiting for a GM - if Brandon is on board, why don't we have a new GM already? Perhaps our new GM is waiting in the wings and one of his demands for signing was removing Jauron before his signing was announced...

don't think he/she realized i was the one who asked one of the sucky questions. without speaking for TG, wanted to address why i suck so much.
jw
I think the problem is having all the fans listening/watching the post-game press conferences. A question is only "sucky" when combined with a sucky answer. Obviously, you were giving Jauron an opportunity for a potentially great sound bite, maybe "they may have saved my job today" or something along those lines. In the "old" days, if he gives a bad answer, you don't use it and it doesn't matter.
I would love to see a process put in place where the coaching staff answers the fans "Top 5" questions from the weekend. Obviously Jauron won't have a couple of hours to provide strong answers but even a "quality control" coach could let us know the team's thought process.
For example why didn't we run inside without Jenkins? I can think of several legitimate answers that would "peel back" some of the coaching to us fans - maybe the game plan was outside and they didn't want to change the plan. Maybe they felt the advantage was still greater outside. Maybe the Jets were bringing their ends inside to force runs outside, etc...
Any chance the Bills would ever do something like that?
-
With a fuller understanding of the real market the value of the Bills lies much more in its connection to tradition which offered by its being in the league you are selling to the new eyeballs.
We're all Bills fans BUT are you really professing the Bills have some tradition worth $$$ to the NFL? This is a league that moved the Baltimore Colts. Our greatest claim to fame is four consecutive AFC Championships surrounded by decades of failure. Good luck selling that tradition.

So we're down to 2 legitimate threats, LA and Toronto, which may have ownership groups with enough money to afford the Bills plus the relocation fee plus the new stadium. Luckily for us Bills fans, I have 2 teams in my mind that are better suited for relocation: the Raiders (for LA) and the Jags (for Toronto).
Why are the Jags better suited for Toronto? It seems to me that the Bills have targeted Toronto and it wouldn't help the Bills if there was a different team in Toronto taking away the Canadian fans.

Maybe there is a 4% margin of error and he is actually at -1%.
And yes, I am a professor of statistics.
I'm pretty sure there is only a margin of error when you're claiming a sample is representative of a population. There should be no margin of error in a simple survey. But you're the professor

Not confused at all. Simply pointing out to the poster I replied to that since the TV revenue sharing will be untouched then RW or any other owner stands little chance of being adversely affected. The owners will never alter the TV revenue sharing system they have.
We agree on the shared revenue from other streams. The owners will NEVER agree to share more than what they begrudgingly have to give to the bottom 17 teams already.
GO BILLS!!!
I'm not willing to concede that TV revenue will be untouched. Why are you so certain that it will never be altered? Does it really benefit Jones, Snyder and the big markets to share equally with 32 teams? I'm sure they would argue that the teams with higher ratings, should receive more compensation. I don't agree, but I'm not convinced the big boys would mind being in a smaller league of 24 teams and getting a bigger piece of the pie.
The Cowboys don't need a 32 team league to maximize their revenue and I'm sure that several of the smaller teams cost him money in revenue sharing and opportunity cost.

So, there is an appetite in Buffalo to buy up to $1 Billion in undervalued bonds? 50,000 people willing to lend $20,000 interest free (or very close) to keep the Bills in Buffalo?
