  1. this really hinges on merriman. we are overrating several and discounting others. I think we have gotten to serviceable, and if merriman plays well we could be above average.

    DLINE

dwan edwards is an average to above average starter that i like

KW is good - not as stout as we could hope, but above average

Marcell is a bit of a wild card. We hope he is amazing. odds are he is average to slightly above in his first year, with probowl potential later but.... its a roll of the dice

Backups - Troup and carrington are huge question marks. spencer johnson is meh. Jasper will be lucky to make the team yet alone get a single snap. he could be great someday, but expect it to follow the peters model of taking a couple years to get real reps.

    LBers

Merriman - who the heck knows

moats -- showed some instincts, poooor against the run, ok rusher, didnt get a great read on his coverage. average at best.

    kelsey -- shudder.

poz -- free agent, injury issues, average to above average starter IF he even plays

sheppard -- third round rookie, does he get starter reps early? if he does he will be exceeding expectations of everyone but this board and his mom.

davis -- average, probably underrated by our fans.

batten -- probably one of the most overrated guys on the team - why? cause he hasnt had a chance to let us down yet. all we have is team reports that hes awesome!

If everyone hits their full potential, then we could be upper echelon, but even then im not saying ELITE. i think we will be serviceable and because we are not used to it, fans will be overly excited. id compare my expectations of the front 7 to my expectations of fitz. itll flash, it wont totally screw things up, but its not a position of strength, and no superbowl contender would trade their situation for ours.... but it wont be embarassing. thats a big step.

I agree with everything you said here.

  3. Smokers should have no rights. Zero. Nada.

Wow. Replace the word "Smokers" with "Jews" or "Blacks" and what does that make you, dude? Not saying you're a racist, just making a point.

But as a smoker I find your statement offensive. Pretty much everything you have said in this entire thread is offensive, including the "jackasses" moniker.

Let me know where you live; I've got a bag of trash to drop off in your yard. Don't worry, it will biodegrade in a couple of decades.

Well it depends what's in the trash bag...not sure if your tampons are biodegradable or not, "jackass"....ohhh snap!

OK, that was just for humour.

  4. Just looking at that 08 draft..McKelvin in the 1st, Hardy in the 2nd (I feel like I've barely seen the 2 play) and also Brohm in the 2nd..I mean, that draft was only two years ago...if these 3 can stay healthy and/or get the opportunity to play...they could still be big time players...

Even Maybin and Nelson from last year's draft..hopefully this coaching staff can get the most out of all of them.

  5. Brian Brohm: Bills open to Brohm winning starting QB job

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Bills are "very open" to Brian Brohm entering Week 1 as their starting quarterback.

Mort previously hinted on ESPN that the new Bills regime is ready to wash its hands of Trent Edwards. Brohm threw for just 146 yards and two picks on 29 pass attempts in his lone start last season. Otherwise, the former second-round pick has been unable to get on the field entering his third year. 6. I'm pretty sure that injuries have made him a shell of what he once was (a mere motel, if you will)...BUT...he did play Offensive Line for Chan Gailey for 2 years. In fact, Gailey was the one that drafted him.

    Keep an eye on it.

I'm sure you've heard this before...but I'd be ECSTATIC if your mock draft became reality.

  7. The fact that the new Bills' brass is "reportedly" meeting with/to meet with/holding a private workout for/interested in McNabb, Tebow, Clausen, McCoy, and Skelton (Lefevour? Snead?) may all just be due diligence.

But it tells me they really aren't holding an open competition with just TE, Fitz and Brohm on the roster at QB come training camp.

  8. Neither Clausen nor Bradford will be there at 9 and the 2nd rounders, Tebow and McCoy, don't get me excited. I'd like the Bills to go LT, NT for the 1, 2 picks. Then use the 3rd to draft a project QB to develop like Skelton or Snead.

This is exactly how I feel, and what I'm hoping for. Something like:

    1st: Trent Williams/Bryan Bulaga

    2nd: Cam Thomas/Terrence Cody

    3rd: John Skelton/Jevan Snead
