The NFL draft isn't a video game kid. Snap out of it, you're daydreaming. You're not playing Madden. Why don't you look back at some of the "player ratings" in years past and see how accurate they turned out to be. People like you are the reason fans are labeled stupid. Choose another team cuz you're clueless.

    PLAYER RATINGS!!! ha

Good point!. Thats why the guys doing the ratings for NFL.com aren't working for the NFL teams and doing the actual picks.

  2. Chris Johnson 358 carries last season....Thurman Thomas...all the SB years...never less than 288 carries...Peterson 314 carries...all the great RB's get 300 carries or pretty close to it...and do great things...we run the ball 300 times with Lynch...we win...period...end of story...QB this QB that...Defense this Defense that....Lynch gets the carries...we win...guaranteed...Gailey gets him the ball enough and gets Freddy 200 carries or so...we are 11-5 easily

Good point but it may not be as simple as that. First of all its hard to stick with the run when you are behind in every game. Also the other team might just know that you have a strong running game and a lousey passing game. They stack against the run and make you pass to beat them. Even the worst defense can take away the run if they sell out on every play. You must must have a balanced attack to take advantage of that. We were unable to make other teams pay for not playing honest.

  3. I'm looking at this from an available players point of view, and taking McNabb with a 2nd this year would mean having to really stick to our needs for the other picks--LT, NT, DE, WR, OLB, ILB, RT.

The draft is deeper at WR and OLB, so I'll take the LT and DT early and the other positions next:

1 9 Buffalo Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa

    2 ---------Trade For McNabb-----------------------------------------------------------

3 72 Buffalo Cam Thomas DT34 North Carolina

    4 107 Buffalo Mike Neal DE34 Purdue

    5 140 Buffalo Lindsey Witten OLB34 Connecticut

6 178 Buffalo Blair White WRF Michigan State

6 192 Buffalo Clifton Geathers DE34 South Carolina

7 209 Buffalo Kion Wilson ILB South Florida

7 216 Buffalo Tony Washington OT Abilene Christian

I love the Blair White pick at 178. The guy is really under rated. Very good vertical leap and descent speed. Hope he decides to play ball vs starting Dental School. The kid is super smart.

  4. Two words: Bud Wilkinson.

Two more words: the "Oklahoma" defense.

The 3-4 is a direct descendant of the 44 defense that Wilkinson invented.

Football history is a cool thing.

    GO BILLS!!!

You are correct K-9. It is getting tougher to classify the Pro defenses as a classic 4-3,3-4 ect ever since the Buddy Ryan BEAR 46 and all the zone blitz packages. Its easier to look at it as an ODD or EVEN front. If you have a down tackle in a 0 or 1 technique (NOSE TACKLE)its an ODD FRONT and if two tackles are in a 2,3 or shade 3 technique its an EVEN front. All the rest of the lineman and backers fall into a natural progression to cover A thru C GAPS on both sides.

  5. I played against the 4-4 many years ago in High School. We didn't pass the ball much back then. It was very tough to run block against because the backers were always stunting a different way. Most times they would stack behind a D lineman and were hard to get to. It just won't work in the NFL. These passing QBs would cut it to ribbons. Can't cover all the passing zones with 3 DBs. Some version of it may work on goal line.
