2. But the issue is that no matter what happened this year he was gone anyway with no compensation:

1 - if he had a bad year again, we were going to let him walk rather than giving him the big contract he was looking for

2 - if he had a GREAT contract year, he would have asked for so much money (like Nate) we would not have been able to keep him anyway

Sure we could franchise him, but that just creates a Lance Briggs-type situation where everyone is unhappy.

So regardless of all of the other reasons why (offseason workouts, being an idiot, not being into the team), the best move is to get compensation for him now.

    Good Points.

  3. It seems that the Bills are awfully anxious to get of #21, what's the reason?

    Does his work ethic suck?

Is there a reason that nobody here knows that is causing the Bills to get rid of him?

What if this guy returns to his pre-injury form? I know he hasn't yet in the NFL but this might be the first time he's behind a decent line.

If he were to get back to that form or close to it how would this trade be viewed in a few years?

Just my thoughts, if they have a good reason to get rid of him & can get a 2nd I wouldn't be upset, but if he returns to "that guy" he was at the U...

  4. First of all, it won't happen.  Think Baltimore wants to move?  Ummm, no.

Second, what is the motivation?  "I can go to these games because Pittsburgh and Cleveland are close to me!"  Yeah, right.  Plenty of tickets available in either city.   This is simply a moronic statement.

Third, "...we avoid the blackouts because Cleveland and Pittsburgh fans will travel to Buffalo."  And the New England fans the past few years have been a pleasure, right?

Bottom line, stop the talk of moving out of the East.  BEAT the Patriots, Dolphins, and Jets on a regular basis again and the rivalries will flourish.  A rivalry is based on a long history of competitiveness between two entities.  I’m sorry, but the Bills haven’t really held up their end of the competitiveness issue the last several years.

The talk of moving and finding new rivals is nothing more than an admission of failure.  Stop it now.

    867606

I would love a move the the AFC North, it makes complete sense. A division rival should not be as far away as Miami is.

  5. I tried to Tivo the game on Directv..I am in Utica 180 miles from Buffalo and the damn thing was Blacked out...I thought it was a 75 mile radius....I'm going to double check it, if it is I'm complaining...that is a BS policy...it should be like 90% of the stadium's capacity

    849608

The league really should address this, why not make the cutoff for attendance the average of what every stadium in the league holds?

That being said the crowd was as loud as I've heard in quite sometime yesterday & we drew a couple false starts on Jville's last drive just like the old days.

  6. I appreciate what you're saying, but moving money from stadium maintenance doesn't create the money needed for the changes proposed.  it has just been reallocated from another budget item.  and, so, the next logical question is "what about stadium maintenance previously identified as a $5million item?".  was it not needed? if so, why is it in the budget to begin with?  can we put it the original maintenance items off for a year, and if so, at what cost?

this quote from a Buffalo News Article sums it up for me:

Ignoring warnings, the County Legislature routinely approved County Executive Joel Giambra's budgets despite their lack of recurring revenues to pay recurring costs.

we're moving money from different piles, but we still don't have the money to cover the needs.

anyway, it's politics as usual, and they're not the first to spend money they don't have. the bills leaving would break my heart, so whata re you going to do. i think we need more creative thinking into the way we finance stadium and issues related to the Buffalo Bills, but honestly don't have any answers.  then again, it's not my job to figure it out.

    822117

The stadium desperately needs these improvements along with added/improved bathrooms & more tv's in the concourse areas.

  7. It's all in what you're looking for and what's important to you.

Yeah, the jumbotron is not the biggest in the league.  Many in the NFL are the same size as our entire scoreboard (most of our scoreboard is static advertizement space).  Yeah, the bathrooms stink with no TVs over the peeing troughs.  Yeah, the paint is looking bad in many areas.

BUT ... I have never been to another stadium where every seat in the house gets you that close to the action with great sightlines.  In 2001 or 2002 I went to the PIT-BUF preseason game in Pittsburgh at Heinz Field.  We paid $60 per ticket for the cheap seats.  Upper endzone -- higher than any of the kicks went that day.  Worst seats I have ever sat in at any stadium.  Worse than the sightlines at Three Rivers.  If watching the game is important to you, the Ralph is one of the best still to this day.

    787041

I agree about the sightlines, I've never sat in a bad seat at the Ralph.

  8. It makes little sense imo. Have you seen the Spike Lee doccumentary about N.O.?

There would be political complications galore in moving the Saints, no matter how much sense it would make.

Plus, the Bills draw much needed fans from there and would surely object..

Anything is possible, but I strongly doubt it.

    Jmo.

    786303

I can't see this happening, the NFL already draws fans from Toronto to the Ralph.

I was alot more worried about losing the Bills a few years ago but now I think a group including Golisano would have no problem buying the Bills & keeping them here for the long term.

  9. I sit in sec 311, 50 yardline visitors side. TV work great, Numbers are painted on

the row, restrooms no problem I always bring a small radio and I go to the hidden bathroom which is nice.

    786302

Hidden bathrooms are nice, we used to have one by our old seats in section 125.

Even though those are still one entry/exit, does anyone know if that's a fire hazard?

I can't imagine that it would be if they're allowing it.

  10. It that $$$ coming from ticket buyers? Assesement on season tix or an upcharge on counter purchases?  Or is it going to be stuck on others who don't attend games?

    Curious... :D

    786291

Does anyone have a link to this story?

I do believe security needs to be upgraded, although I didn't see any problems in section 117.

  11. I've been a season ticket holder for years & have always loved the Ralph but after yesterday's observations & comments that were made from out of town Bills fans in my group I have to wonder if it truly is becoming a dump.

Here are some of my observations:

-Bathroom walls were painted only 1/2 way up the wall, which really doesn't matter but it just looks so ghetto.

-Several bathrooms had same door being used for entrance & exit so you have to push everyone out of the way on your way out.

-You completely lose the game in the bathroom, they don't even pump the sound through in most of them like they used to.

-There we're stretches of concession stands without tv's to follow the game & the ones that did have tv's were 20" tv's that looked like they were at least 20 years old.

-The row numbers used to be painted on the steps, they have since worn off & not been repainted.

Now don't get me wrong I've always loved the Ralph but I think it could use some updates, mostly to the bathrooms & tv's in the hallways.

I know were in a small market but it's a market that is selling out almost everygame after missing the playoffs year after year, they have to have some $$ to put into that place.

There were some people talking yesterday about the $20 Million that is supposed to be going to improvements but I couldn't find an article on that, does anyone have a link to it?

Does anyone have any suggestions about the Ralph or am I just being to critical of it?

  12. From what I understand, the only reason it says may is just in case they (TWC & NFL) reach a last minute agreement. A cable operator cannot broadcast channels they do not have a contract with.

    732245

I haven't read anywhere that we will be losing TWC or Howard Stern, anyone have a link to an article that states this?

  13. The Sabres have won 39 games this season, the most after 60 games in team history ........ This team is smokin'.

19 games left till the playoffs, and Buffalo is being reffered to as one of the "premier teams " in the league.

    There is life after football.

    620828

Just got back from the game, this team never stops. With or without making a deal at the deadline they're going to be a threat.

  14. Lets see, Upshaw the tard says he will not have the players go to a lower percentage of revenues that they currently are (which is just less than 60%). He says the players will not accept 57%, because it represents a decrease.

Now if Gene the 'tard new how to operate a calculator, the "lowering" of the players cut of revene actually gives the players 577 million more next season, and 1.5 billion more over the course of the CBA contract.

Way to go gene. Keep insisting that 57% of 20 is somehow less than 60% of 10, because its a lower percentage. Next time, the NFLPA ought to hire someone who has passed 4th grade math.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2355190

    618744

Unless I'm misunderstanding something I actually agree with the players union. If you're currently getting x percentage of the pie & the pie is due to get larger why would you accept a smaller piece of the pie???

I understand it's more $$ but the owners will be pocketing even more since they're cut is going to grow by the percentage they take away from the players.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong but if that's the way it is I see where the players are coming from.
