  1. Happy Birthday to Mr. Wilson who turned 94 today. Pardon The Interruption on ESPN did a small tribute piece. Saw what you want about the man, but he has been loyal to the Buffalo area.

Mike Wilbon also quickly relayed an anecdote at the end of the piece indicating that many years ago, he received a hand written note of praise from Mr. Wilson, that he has kept and is honored to have. That's pretty cool. I don't imagine Jerruh Jones does too much of that...

  2. It seems to me that (as was mentioned up thread) the games have become chippier and some after the whistle stuff isn't being flagged at all. As a perfect example, during the [very physical] Lions v 49'ers game last night, in the 4th quarter Alex Smith escaped the pocket for a gain, slid feet first (hook-slide = giving himself up) and got hit in the head with a forearm by a diving Lion. The Lion did not leave his feet until Smith was horizontal and sliding. The impact to his head was solid enough that it had Smith bleeding from the nose for the rest of the game...No flag. That's not the type of call that is typically missed by the regular refs.

  3. WOW!!!

McFadden's gets 1000 Bills fans on NFL Sundays!

They even take over an adjoining restaurant that hosts a more family friendly crowd. The link below takes you to photos of game days at McFaddens. Back when it started, the NYC BBB founder, literally got 'all up in their kitchen' to show them how to properly prepare chicken wings. The site seems to be stripped down compared to its in-season status, but there's still stuff worth exploring.

  4. I was in either N2 or N3, had seasons low in N2 but we moved up to the top row at halftime. Why? Because my fiancé (wife now), her brother and a friend of ours had snuck in a bunch of beer in a duffle bag and with so many people leaving, we didn't want to get caught. Security then wasn't what it is nowadays, plus we had a couple friends that worked security that actually came up and would bring confiscated beer up to us (thanks to all the Canadians that always got caught btw).

Anyway, we watched the exodus of people from up top while I bitched that we should probably leave too and listen to Van on the way home. My wonderful fiance(whom I met at a game several years prior) talked me out of leaving and we enjoyed one of the greatest games (still love the raiders and phins championship games) that I've ever been too. A truly amazing day to be at a Bills game.

My experience is very similar. I started the game with family: my mother, brother, cousins and aunt, all boozed up in the section my father worked in as an usher (Section M). At half time, I wandered behind the scoreboard to meet some friends and lament the end of our reign over the AFC. Upon returning to our seats to begin the 3rd quarter, my family had scattered and were no where to be found. I headed to the very top row (Section M, somewhere) and watched the comeback with a group of drunk Canadians. I'll never forget the "just go for it - on every play" attitude that permeated everything; especially after the pick six we gave up to start the second half. There was a point in the 2nd half when there was a timeout, TV or otherwise, just before the Oilers were going to attempt a field goal. During the delay before lining up for the snap, the crowd was going absolutely berserk, exhorting the football gods to show the Bills some love. As if on cue, the wind picked up and the weather turned from relatively fair to *extremely* foul just in time to screw up the Oiler's snap. Talley recovered the ball and the Bills kept the points off the board. That may have been the most fortuitous gust of wind in Rich Stadium history.

  5. I've been in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area since 1994 after growing up in the heart of the snow-belt in OP. It took about 15 years, but my blood has finally thinned to the point where 50 degree days in January bring me a chill as opposed to a rant addressing weather-soft native Californians...

They cancel outdoor soccer, lacrosse and football practice here when it rains!

  6. Um. Bump for help.

While I have no insight or experience into how to attend the draft itself, here's a link to an offsite Bills Draft Party at McFadden's in NYC as organized by the NYC Buffalo Bills Backers. I'm old friends with one of the founding members of the nycbbb's thus I'm on the email list despite living far from NYC and having never set foot in McFadden's on game day. Maybe if you sign up for their newsletter and/or reach out to some of the members, you'll find some local intelligence from last year.

    Good luck and Go Bills!

  7. Anyone else notice that our defenders (byrd? and someone else?-Wilson? ) mysteriously fell over (almost as if they were tackled or pushed from behind)when De'sean Jackson scored that TD on a screen pass.

High scoring games are cool, but don't cheat refs!!!!!!!!!

Why arent the coaches more vocal with the refs.

The replay of De'sean Jackson's screen pass TD is on every highlight package I've seen; and so are 2 to 4 blocks in the back by the Eagles within 2 steps of the ball carrier. He *may* have been tackled behind the line and never scored if not for the illegal blocks. Maybe not - D Jackson's pretty elusive...

Hey - the Bills won and perhaps benefited from the spotty officiating as well, but it is frustrating none the less. Make the legitimate calls both ways and may the better team win.

  8. Just a thought.....on the INT did anyone notice that the play began with the sky overcast, then the sun came out as Drayton picked it off and by the time he hit the endzone the field was aglow in brilliant sunshine. Maybe its all those Dead tours coming back on me but I thought it was soooo fitting. Well done boys :)

    Sunshine - daydream...

    : )

  9. NFL net is replaying game tuesday sometime check listings unless ya dont have NFL Net

Using the assumption you have DirecTV's NFL ticket (since you dvr'd the game) the game will be replayed on the NFL network (DTV channel 212) on Tuesday night (8pm Eastern) per an announcement last night. Good luck!

  10. I gotta agree, Chandler. It was a magical day. The weather, the mood of the whole country with Desert Storm and all and the Bills giving Schroeder and company a huge beatdown. An unbelievable feeling to know we were finally going to the big one.

I couldn't agree more. That victory over the Raiders in the AFC Championship was tremendous. My buddy & I, just out of college at the time, had smuggled a bottle of booze each into the stadium. We vowed to take a pull each time the Bills scored. Needless to say, we were totaled by the end of the first half. After the rout was over, as we made our way back to the car, 97 Rock or another local station was *blasting* "Southbound" by the Allman Brothers in lot somewhere on Abbott Road to celebrate the fact the Bills were headed to Tampa for our first Super Bowl appearance. There had to be 300 Bills fans dancing their happy a**es off in that lot. That song forever will remind me of that blissfully happy moment. Good times...May there be many, many more...
