1. I'm not arguing the PAST strategy, but as SH said, they've lost more than a few important players and coaches, so using the PAST strategy likely isn't going to cut it anymore.  We'll see, but if Belichick can win any more SB's, I'll be the first in-line to call for his immediate enshrinement into the HOF.

I believe that ship has already left port and is steaming towards Canton.

  2. It's based on more than just that, FYI.  Mason was one example.  But I also don't see any big-names that they signed, or anyone (except for Hartwell) talking about wanting to play for them, and no Duane Starks doesn't count.

Yeah, if you say so. B-)

Since when have the Pats ever been interested in signing the "big names"? They dont seem to go ga-ga over big name guys. That formula has worked pretty well for them to this point. Who are we to argue it?

  3. I must say i am intruiged - I wonder if there will be any other literature references along the way that may supply clues.

I have a question for those who have seen all the episodes. A few of you, and I believe a character last night (Charlie?), referenced a carniverous giraffe. Is there really a giraffe on the island? Is this the monster? Or is the monster the polar bear? I just need clarification. I have only read espisode summaries and saw the last three episodes.

Nobody knows what the monster is but Charlie said giraffe because in the first episode where it takes the pilot right out of the plane and sounds VERY LARGE, he assumed that the monster must be very tall.

My first thought was T-Rex but apparently, thats not the case.

Until I see the team actually ANNOUNCE a certain player is gone, I'll believe it.

    The Pats have lost

    Ty Law

    Roman Phifer

    Joe Andruzzi

Troy Brown (who could resign at a lower rate)

    Both Coordinators

    Jets lost

    Ferguson

    Lamont Jordan

    Bills lost

    Pat Williams

    Jonas Jennings

  5. I think they made the right desicion.

I am 29 now and lot calmer then I used to be. Until I was about 22 I would fight in the drop of a hat. I got in lots of troubel and nobody messed with me.  I felt like killing people all the time just for messing with me and I didn't know why.  If I killed somebody by acident I would have to go to the elecric chair but I wern't relly responsible for what I was doing.

What they did was a good idea for younger people.

815 was the number of Kate's safety deposit box

Locke had his accident 4 years ago?

Michael was hit by a car 4 years ago

Drive Shaft had their hit 4 years ago

Arent there 42 survivors on the island?

The 4th book of the Bible Chapter 8 Verse 15-16 deals with firstborn children - ie Claire getting kidnapped.

8:15 And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the

tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer

    them for an offering.

8:16 For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of

Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the

firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.

  7. If it is any consolation, they don't treat their fans good also (outside of winning).  In the recent SI (3-7), "Who's Hot/Who's Not" page... It appears that "Patriots Faithful" is not doing so well and are "Who's Not"...

    Patriots Faithful

Fan favorite Ty Law is out (released), and gouging is in.  Ticket prices were hiked 20%, and while Pats announced they'll relax no-transfer policy on season tickets--team got bad press last year after a ticket holder died and Pats demanded the tickets back from his cancer-stricken son--it comes at a price.  Transferring to family members costs $2,500-$5,000 a seat.

I have always said that the Pats were all about money because Kraft is up to his neck with the "Razor"... Watch out for the nicks Bob!

    259989

It would be quite gullible of anyone to believe that Most if not all NFL teams treat this like a business and cut players whom they feel arent living up to their contracts.

Regarding the Pats ownership, IIRC, didnt Kraft finance that stadium with 100% of his own money and then elected not to charge PSL's? The guy has won 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls and demand is VERY high there. It would be stupid not to raise prices. Simple economics. The transfer thing is a bit dopey but again, no PSLs come with a price I guess.

  8. Jermaine Wiggins.  Cast off tight end after their first Super Bowl. Caught 10 passes in the Snow Bowl.  Not invited to camp.

He was the leading receiver for the Vikes last year.  Spires, Woody, Milloy they all can still play and several others.

    258782

Outside of that game, how many passes did he catch for them?

Do many of you forget this is a business? Both the owners and players realize this.

Troy Brown was cut early which actually helps him.

  9. Jumping ship would simply be leaving. I am not saying they don't deserve more money and better positions.

Players that don't perform to their level? Brown? Law? While I agree some players cut may fall under that category, I simply don't see that.

Bitterness and jealousy? No way. As long as the AFC is winning the show and the Dolphins aren't going I am a happy camper. I am pointing out my predictions, take them or leave them.

    258407

I guess we disagree because I see it differently. I'm sure a lot of us thought Law would get cut LAST year. He had like a 12 million dollar cap hit this year.

Being sentimental about players is what gets you into cap trouble. Players know its a business. I think if guys like Law and Brown who were perennial Patriots were cut a la Milloy, you'd be on to something.

  10. Actually, I believe he did. His points are obvious, and overlooking them is a huge mistake. Coaches are jumping ship in NE, players are getting tossed, it doesn't seem like things are going to be looking too good for the Pats next year. The secondary is becoming a bit pourous, the coaching that got them there is walking out the door. Granted they have a good amount of room under the cap, but you don't throw the everyone off the boat then ask the rats to row.

Tuna was a great coach when he had a great staff too, you know. So was Jimmy Johnson. Drop the staff and keep some talent and these guys struggled. In this case NE is dropping staff and talent. Sounds like a recipie for disaster in Patsy land.

The Steelers fans came aboard BB.com several weeks ago screaming championship and displaying a similar arrogance as yourself. I called it dead on then, stating NE would simply drum them at home in the AFC Championship game... and I was right. The mighty fell then, and the mighty Patsies will as well. Mark my words, 9-7 maybe 10-6 and no show for you guys next year. Like all dynasties NE will fall, and fall quickly.

    257966

One cannot equate coaches finally getting the promotions they've long deserved for "jumping ship" As far as "players getting tossed" This happens to every team right? Players who no longer perform to the level of their contracts get the cut for salary cap reasons. Would you rather us be the Colts and pay out exorbitant contracts year in/year out and continually fail to address certain needs? Or would you rather us be one of those teams like the Redskins/Niners/Titans who pay all the money and do okay for a few years and then have to go through a couple years or more of salary cap hell?

In my opinion, cutting these guys now is actually doing them a favor (I believe Ty Law even said as much that he was greatful that Belicheck cut him early) so they can try and get the best offers they can from other teams.

Lets not let bitterness and jealousy get in the way of facts and reality.
