  1. im pretty sure based on mario's conference yesterday, you know where marrone stands regarding how he is relating injuries and other issues with the press....

you're going ot get what you hear once, and if you don't like it tough..

"we are in the information gatherers profession, and not the information sharing profession"...not exact word for word from mr marrone, but close enough..

  2. It's not apparent what he learned from Parcells. I never saw Parcells get exasperated so quickly, or ever, really.

Parcells belittled the press, but never had to resort to saying things like "I'm a straight shooter...". Sounded like pleading. The locals smelled a little blood in the water. Parcells never had a day like that. Also, I don't think Parcells ever came into a room where he didn't anticipate and have ready an answer to all questions. I never watched him and thought he didn't know what was going on with on of his players.

because you've watched parcells press conferences the first year he was coach?

  3. Well, the Browns match this more than the Bills, arguably. They've already hired a new President in Alec Scheiner that has utilized football analytics in the NFL (with Dallas), and he'll be hiring at least one major specialist in that regard. The Bills willingness to head in this direction is positive, but it's not an advantage over Cleveland.

EDIT: Another thing that gets left out is that Joe Banner is very close with Kelly's agent David Dunn. Jim Overdorf is good friends with agent Drew Rosenhaus, and apparently this was instrumental in Terrell Owens signing in Buffalo.

levitre, urbik, and wood are all under dunn as well..

  4. Clearly La Canfora is suggesting there is a certain air of unpredictability to Chip. I guess he could return to Oregon, having used all this as leverage in Oregon to get more of what he wants there. But I don't see that being very likely.

This guy needs to be careful. You don't let it be known that you have decided it's time to make the jump to the NFL, jerk a bunch of NFL front office chains, and then retreat back to college...if you ever actually want to work in the NFL.

Do we actually have any confirmed source indicating the length of the Bills interview?

I am under the impression it was somewhat brief, but I don't recall reading anything that actually stated how long it lasted.

me either...and Adam Schefter stated it was a GOOD interview with the bills....maybe....chip is using the eagles and browns to hike the price up by hanging around with them the longest....

What's funny is that prior to any interviews taking placed, it was "revealed" that Kelly did not require personnel control, and also strongly hinted that Cleveland was holding off on hiring a GM because they were open to giving him as much control as he wanted.

Up is down, left is right, right is wrong.

another good piece of evidence here......i don't think chip wants to go to the browns/eagles without a gm that has the same vision as him...

russ preaches analytics...forward vision....letting everyone do their jobs....

how does this not match folks?!?!?!

another item...he's friends with billy boy...neither guy likes to tell anyone anything..blah press conferences...etc....

i can see the eagles and browns not wanting that as well...where buddy and russ are all over keeping things close to the vest at all times...

  5. Another grain of salt:

    Reuben Frank@RoobCSN

So Kelly likely has offers from Lurie & Banner. Eagles & Browns keeping other options open until CK decides [or stays at Ore]. Makes sense.

    Reuben Frank@RoobCSN

Can confirm that meeting in Phoenix with Eagles and Kelly has ended after nine hours.

again....browns meet for 7 hours...eagles meet for 9 hours......bills meet for 25 mins? come on man....

  6. what every false report has stated is....interview is done...more to come....the browns have done it.."dinner tomorrow for follow-up"...the eagles have now done it.."interview is done...communication not done.."...

where's the bills in all this? Adam stated on Sportscenter meeting went well with bills but browns still in lead...that's it..that's all we've heard...

    bills seeing mccoy today....nothing reported....

whatever this means i don't know..other than the bills, bengals, and eagles are all still in it apparently...

  7. FWIW, NFL Network's Ian Rappaport hears the following from around the league regarding the Bills:

    The
' QB situation is certainly a question mark. The other thing is, I hear nothing but good things around the league when it comes to eventual GM Doug Whaley and CEO Russ Brandon. It's rare you hear such positive reviews about, well, anything, but these two are respected. Brandon for his ability to be an administrator, Whaley for his personnel prowess. People love old
alums, and Whaley would like to build in the model of what we see in Pittsburgh. The phrase I heard most often with regard to Buffalo's situation? "
They are in good hands." Something you don't often hear.

BOOOOOOOOOOOM! Thank you Ralph for stepping down!

  8. Not to be negative, but does it really matter which one of these guys the Bills hire? The candidates with HC experience only had success because they had talent and most importantly they had top notch QBs. Wiz had Warner and Lovie had Cutler, both had multiple talented WRs.

In my opinion, the Bills need to find someone that will utilize CJ and has to be a master motivator. Maybe that's Kelly? Regardless, they have to find a legit QB. Do that and whomever they hire will be the next NFL HC genious. The bigger issue is where are they going to find that QB? Not in this years draft. None of these guys interviewing are going to win and turn this franchise around with Fitz. All these coaches are capable with the right QB in place. Miss on the QB and we'll right here 3 years from now.

why i want chip is for a breathe of fresh air...trying something new with the hottest coach in the ncaa behind saban...running a pretty new offensive scheme that runs over people quickly.....like what the bills innovated in the early 90's..no one was ready for us then....they were smart enough to try something new...you bring in lovie, whiz, or any other "experienced" nfl coach you're going to get the same ol offense same ol defense..blah blah blah blah...

  9. Now heres an interesting question, if this hypothetical was true would that be tampering?

don't believe so....i believe that only goes against players from ncaa to pros..

Your point is well taken, and we certainly have no real idea of what is happening right now.

Having said that, I highly doubt a 7 hour meeting b/w Kelly and the Browns would have happened if it was just pleading with him to reconsider his preexisting verbal agreement with the Bills.

It would be the other way around based on time spent interviewing. I.E., you would imagine the Bills would have been doing the pleading based on the short time they spent with Kelly.

or sources are completely wrong and he wasn't in a 7 hour meeting with cleveland..

  10. Wow. I thought for sure we'd have an announcement by now with how the Cleveland Plain-Dealer was talking.

that Mary Kay Cabot of the plain-dealer is full of it..not once does she mention kelly met with the bills today...

    "lawyers are at dinner"...shut up

She just now tweeted that chip is still meeting with the eagles...nice browns..nice...

    Mary Kay Cabot@MaryKayCabot

#Oregon's Chip Kelly still meeting with the #Eagles.

    haha she has no clue...

  11. Call me crazy, call me whatever you want..but i feel chan is going to mess this one up tonight and not let spiller be spiller tonight running the football..

It happened against the Texans and it will probably happen tonight.

Chan is a stat guy...believe it or not....

Texans and Dolphins are both top 5 against the run....

My prediction is a 40 attempt game from fitz with 10-15 rushes for spiller...

Anyone want to bet against this?

  12. put a 2.5% tax on prepared food and drink...so basically everytime you go out to eat or drink in at a restaurant/fast food joint you get taxed...you pay 5 cents extra for a $2 cup of coffee...

In the first full year omaha made 23.8 million dollars..... in 10-15 years you've made your 30% of 1.4 billion dollars if my calculations are correct...

you buffalonians just need to keep the faith...

  13. I'm from omaha and we built a roughly 441 million dollar arena/convention center.....we are in omaha! we have ZERO pro teams! Zero!

it's a little over half as much the cost of this new proposal but just look what we've used it for so far and we are in nebraska! Imagine next to Canada lake side! It only holds 18500 seats in the Arena!

According to the 2011 Population Estimates, Omaha's population was 415,068. Including its suburbs, Omaha formed the 60th-largest metropolitan area in the United States in 2010, with an estimated population of 877,110 residing in eight counties

    Population of Buffalo

Buffalo itself has a population of 261,310 (2010 Census) and the Buffalo–Niagara–Cattaraugus Combined Statistical Area is home to 1,215,826 residents.

It would be the biggest epic fail in the history of epic fails if Buffalo doesn't take this seriously...
