  1. Love football, love bad weather, and love being out in it.

Bay area fans looked at me in disbelief when I said I would have gladly gone to the game even knowing the road conditions.

And THIS is why we don't need a dome stadium - the keep the more casual fans away and for unforgettable joyous moments in the outdoors like this game!

  2. Many of you are confusing tolerance with silent approval. All of us are tolerating Tebow's various antics - his praying for field goals, his super bowl commercial, the eye black bible verses, etc. His faith displays are so public we don't have a choice but to tolerate them.

What we don't have to do is silently roll our eyes and accept without criticism behaviour that some of us find incredibly boorish and unnecessary. People can criticize Tebow just as publicly - and shouldn't be labeled bigoted or intolerant for doing so.

The idea that another's public religious displays should be "sacred" and above reproach doesn't jive with some that don't believe in sanctity or some other religious notion in the first place.

Like your opinions, love your HP Lovecraft themed icon.

  3. The problem with your view is that to properly believe in Jesus for salvation (which you seem to 'give permission' to others to do) ... It includes not keeping one's faith to one's self. Someone has to risk stepping on the cultural toes of others ... As a believer, I'm happy to assume that risk.

And the problem with your point of view is that it seems to imply that God truly cares about the outcome of a football game. Kind of like the many athletes who feel the urge to praise God in front of the camera and thank him for the victory. I like the humility but think God has more important things to worry about.

Then again, maybe you're right and God is helping out his own cause behind the scenes and is rooting for his own personal fantasy team!

  4. If you couple this idea with getting football out of college, I'm all for it!

Think about how much $ is "wasted" on big college sports like football, situations where a Nobel prize winning scientist gets paid far less than the football coach, college athletes complaining about not being paid, numerous program violations - all this could go away thanks to PTR's idea.

On the other hand, this isn't a footbal discussion but more along the lines of politics so I'll shut up now.

  5. So bc they exceeded expectations means we should be ok when they lose?

Seriously what's the point of this thread?

I'd say its a breath of optimism and hope on an otherwise ugly Monday morning.

I'm thankful I can now WATCH the Bills and see them be competitive EACH week.

And that sure beats the #$&* out of the last few years where the Bills have been pretty dismal.

    GO BILLS!

  6. It makes remember the Dr Dirty song about the smell when that time of month comes around Amazing since I have not heard it since college before the Bills were a power in AFC.

    You can tell

    By the smell

    that she isn't feeling well

    As the end of

    the month

    rolls along...

    You can tell

    By her b!tchin

    that she must be

    sort of itchin'

    As the end of

    the month

    rolls along...

Let's hear it for John Valby!

  7. on a crazy IPA kick right now, trying to try them all...have already tried a lot in my years but am revisiting now....post your fave IPA (thats India Pale Ale) for those who are really newbs to the burr world..

    Few of my Faves:

    - Dogfish Head 60 min IPA (and obviously their 120 min)

    - Stone IPA

    - Saranac IPA

    Please divulge!

I am a total SLUT for IPA.

For you folks in the Bay Area, head down to Morgan Hill (S of San Jose) to El Toro brewery. Gina (the brewmaster) brews DOZENS of his own (including orange cream soda).

His best is the DEUCE - a double hopped IPA that's unbeatable. Otherwise, head over to the lower Haight in SF (gotta love the haight!) to Toronado where you can find this, Pliny the Elder, and in rare cases Pliny the YOUNGER on tap. No one mentioned Sierra Nevada's Torpedo - another winner in the same vein as Lagunitas.

  8. NFL star Terrell Owens was hospitalized in L.A. last week -- after someone called 911 to report a medical emergency at an apartment where the football player had been staying ... TMZ has learned.

Haven't we already been though this?

Poor TO - mom didn't give him enough love as a baby, the T-ocho show bombed, and no one's paying any attention to him

    Color me NOT surprised

  9. nevermind a huge LOL to eagle fan meltdowns. mega LOL to people melting down in general.

A big NIX to people melting down - the guy who killed 3 people last week near San Jose did this < 1 m from my home with my kids getting ready for school.

Generally I don't want to be anywhere NEAR someone melting down or going postal!

  10. As usual you missed the basic point. Ralph Wilson is a failure in his own right. He doesn't need to be compared to anyone else because he has his own inimitable way of failing.

Most people would agree that the Cowboys are underachieving, to put it mildly.. Most people would also agree that the Bills are not underachieving. They are simply a bad team.

Funny to see the season get to the point where we are asking ourselves the following questions?

Would you rather be like the Bills and at least be competitive with an 0-6 record?

Would you rather be like the Cowboys and underachieving with much better talent and an 0-7 record?

Wilson's real legacy will be what happens to the team after he kicks the bucket.
