  1. If Wade goes to Green Bay, put a c-note on them at 50 to 1 to win the Superbowl. He's a terrific and underrated coach.

The Green Bay Packers are not a good football team and don't show signs of winning anytime soon. But, I would say that Wade is a major upgrade from Mike Sherman.

  2. Agreed. Leonhard essentially sprung McGee for that TD return--I think he took out two defenders and sealed the entire left side of the field.

That's what he did at Wisconsin, made plays and was unselfish for team. He is the one bright spot for me this year. I also hope Evans keeps coming along, he seems to have big play ability.

  3. Wisconsin cheese ain't all that great, either.  New York, Vermont and California have far better cheese than Wisconsin.

And another thing about cheese... ;)

Packer players are treated as absolute royalty in Green Bay. There are some really nice neighborhoods they live in. And the fans come and come and come and come, no matter what. They love their Packers, doors fallen off or not. Games are NEVER in doubt of selling out. Merchandise sells from January to December. The community overwhelmingly voted to pay for stadium upgrades.

    The cheese is average....

The only thing they question is "Why did we let Holmgren leave????"

  4. Stopping the clock with no timeouts?

Two minutes left in the game, down by 10 points, no timeouts left, how do you get the ball back and win the game?  Start a scuffle on each play, engage the other player to draw two personal foul penalties, the clock will stop, both players get ejected, no yardage or loss of down is awarded.  The defense will be able to get the ball back with only burning 30 seconds off the clock.  Is this possible?  Does the ref start the game clock prior to the snap of the ball after each penalty? If that’s the case, then the above scenario could not happen.  Should there be a penalty to the defense for time and not yardage for stopping the game in this situation?  Are there any refs out there to clarify this rule or possible game plan?

Was there any reason not to kneel it and let clock run out?? I mean, the WM fumble really pissed me off. But, maybe there was a good reason to run our best player with two minutes left and get him punched and kicked in the pile????

  5. We live in Madison, and yeah, there are lots of buyers, so our city has long wait list. We went to Green Bay and Oshkosh, where the waiting list is 5 months. Naturally, we didn't find that out until 8 months into our wait. But it gave us time to put together a nice down payment. The other nice thing, though, they gave us the list price price from when we got onto the list originally, so we paid the same as a 2004 model for the 2005 model.

  6. I have a Honda Insight and my wife has the Toyota Prius. I love the Insight, it drives like a little sports car and I go forever before filling up (about 500 miles and the gas tank is small.) But it only seats 2, so we got the Prius for that.

My wife swears by the Prius. It gets awesome gas mileage (altho not as good as the Insight) and seems like a normal car. I never get to drive it, but it is comfortable and roomy, and has cool extras. We did have to wait 11 months to get one, though.

  7. He may not make it out of camp, but he will work his ass off. On a HORRIBLE Badger defense, he elevated the play of others, very tenacious. Was the fan favorite many times over. Overachiever absolutely.

As for slowing down at the end of a season, he was always on the field on defense and returning punts, running around like a madman.

Good pickup, at least to make sure that tenacity is present at camp.

  8. I was at this meeting last night. The funniest thing - there is a BIG difference between hunters and cat lovers. These are two groups that just cannot get along.

I voted against the measure, because I think it is pretty stupid idea. The measure lost by a lot and the Conservation Congress admitted they won't bring it up again (ie: they don't want the cat crazy people to come out again and disrupt the group, which is clearly mostly hunters.)

Keep in mind, we have a law that hunters can shoot morning doves - a symbol of peace. So, I don't think they are worried about songbirds.

  9. I miss Antoine, too, but I had the indignity of formally giving my Bills 26 jersey to my brother, a Vikes fan.) Plus, I have seen him get burned A LOT this season. I think those 3 INTS are misleading. But, it's not like I have watched every Vikes game, either.

However, I wish he hadn't left.

  10. When Parcells told Quincy to get the hell out, and the Jets picked him up, people were saying it was a mistake due to his ability to snort the 50yard line faster than he could run across it, but look at the Jets right now.

Pennington goes down, you are starting either Ricky Ray or Brooks Bollinger. To which I would have said: WHO?

Damn the Jets, but they grabbed Quincy when not too many wanted him, and now they might not fall apart like they would have.

Hey!! Brooks Bollinger used to play in Madison and was the qb that got it to Lee Evans for most of his college career.

Ok, I admit, beside me, nobody knows Brooks. In fact, I can't beleive he made an NFL roster.

  11. Three things:

    1. I just traded Tom Brady in my FF league - it never felt good to have him on my team. My ulcer went away, too, so that is a plus.

    2. When Brady was pressured last week (in first half) he looked like RJ, except he was yelling at his teammates. That was nice. Can we pressure him, too?? That would be nice.

    3. Run, Run, Run Willis. Bledsoe stinks up the place against his old team. Is there any reason to beleive that this time he will actually take revenge against his team? I don't think he has it in him. Limit throws and hopefully that limits ints. Bledsoe loves to throw it in the chests of NE LBs. What is that??

  12. Screw Bledsoe's confidence - let's start building JP's right away! It's seems like Bledsoe needs a kick in the ass - something like the Tom Brady situation in NE. Bledsoe came to us possessed...and then has crapped since.

5 turnovers and I want to hear him say "I played like stevestojan - I understand that."

My patience has suspended with him.

  13. Hitters have a tough time with pitchers that throw a lot of junk.  They like to sit there and wait for fast balls and when all they are seeing is breaking balls and change ups, it throws their timing off.  Why do you think Izzy is the one that got rocked????  It wasn't that tough for them to sit on fast balls because they had been doing it all night.

What about Oswalt? Do you think he had a bad game / bad control? Or did he have good stuff and the Cards were prepared well?

He throws some pretty nasty junk, along with fastballs. But he had ZERO strikeouts!!

  14. I'm glad to see even the Astros fans have noticed it.

As far as the pitching goes, I'm starting to hear it may be Munro, in which case I would be very confident in a game 7 happening.

Once it's game 7, ANYTHING can happen.

    75895[/snapback]

You left out the part about how much fun it has been!

BUT, yes, I noticed. My bigger worry was how keyed in the Cards hitters seemed to be on Oswalt. They seemed like they had studied him HARD. But then Backe came in and totally baffled them. Same with Woody Williams - he baffled the Astro hitters bad. It's weird.

I called 7 games a few days ago, too, but at the time the 'Stros had won only one game so far.

    "One more, one more!"

  15. As an Astros fan, I have been a little disturbed by the lack of scoring by anything other than a home run, but the home runs have been so much fun, I haven't cared.

What a strange series. Oswalt gets knocked around the other day and Backe pitches a one hitter. How odd.

Great defense by Beltran on that fly ball. He can hit, run and field. And A-Rod makes more $$ than him???

Who is starting tomorrow night?? Clemens? Munro?
