1. Answers to your questions:

A couple of questions for people who want to actually have an intelligent discussion, rather than just saying "We suck."  Who are probably the same people who last week said, "I told you we'd start winning again", who two weeks earlier said "We suck."

Do you credit the terrible run defense to the loss of Pat Williams?  YES! I find it hard to believe that he is the singular reason that we can no longer stop the run, but I can't find any other glaring reasons. (You give me a better explanation and maybe I'll buy it. We're not allowing are LBs to close the gaps.)

Is there any particular reason that they don't allow Holcomb to try any throws over 10 yards?  (He has no time. Bennie is better in the Jets than he is in Buffalo.) It seems like they don't even want to get a TD.  On 3rd and 18, they run a planned screen.  Why don't they at least TRY to get the first down?

At what point does Losman go back in?  (Next week. Let the healing begin.) I actually thought we'd see him later today after we were down by 14 for the second time.

Why aren't they utilizing Roscoe more? (Being careful with him.) I know he's probably not 100% yet, but they raved about him in camp, but I only think I saw him 2 or 3 times on offense.

  2. I'm not sure if it's Holcomb's arm strength that is the problem.  The coaches must not trust the line to block long enough for a downfield pass play to develop.  The Raiders had most of their DB's hurt and we still didn't attempt to go downfield.

You can't throw the ball down field if you don't have time for your receivers to run long routes. Bennie Anderson is HORRIBLE! and so is MT

  3. Mcgahee! I hope you learned not to boast before the game? At best , you are an average back at the present time! You have lots to learn. Start by learning to shut your trap before the game, getting the other team pumped up!! How stupid can you be??

That's because he's a young c ocky punk. To me, that should be a red flag to Mr. Wilson. It doesn't represent the city of Buffalo or the Buffalo Bills.

  4. Think we shoud have gone after Corey Simon now???

    483517

Amen! We should have picked up Simon. We are getting blown off the line and this isn't the first time it's happened.

Let's make an obvious conclusion: We miss Pat Williams badly.

  5. According to Bill Simmons of espn.com, anytime Tommy Maddox "or any other quarterback of his ilk" is named the starting quarterback for a team he has picked to win, he wants a rule that automatically switches his pick to the other team.  He then goes on to name the rest of the quarterbacks that fall into that category ... and JP is one of them ...

JP's a turkey! Good comment from Simmons.

  6. This is just bad timing.  I don't think you pull JP with 2 home games against divisional opponents.  This is where you see what the kid has.  This is the kind of opportunity you have JP go with.  And if you bring in Holcomb, and maybe split the next two.....I just think this is setting itself up in a bad way, when it leads to the game in Foxboro.

I've seen enough of Rob Johnson oh I mean JP Losman for a while. Did those clowns go to the same high school?

  7. That's the most intelligent decision TD and MM have made this year. JP is not ready to be a starter and though KH struggled in his two relief appearances, I believe he will be a lot more effective now that he has handled the snaps all week.

I keep saying this and I will say it again. JP does not equal Carson, Ben or Eli. The team needs to put the best product on the field to win ball games. The naysayers will say he needs time to develop and let the season wash away. Well my question to you is, what if he doesn't develop? Let's take the "Steve Young" approach and see what happens (granted KH isn't JM).

  8. I don't agree with all of it. I think part of the problem is using the same type of defensive schemes in preseason and then carrying it over into the regular season. Teams have had enough time to develop offensive schemes around our blitzes and that's why we are not getting adequate pressure. Two weeks in a row and I don't understand why we didn't have a spy on Vicks and Brooks especially on 3rd down. I blame this mostly on Gray not all of the defensive players.

MM is pulling Losman not because of JP but because of the team. The players on both sides have absolutely no faith in him. It's hard to go out and play when you know your QB is going to be poor.

Regarding Moulds, two balls that hit his "finger tips" shouldn't be classified as his fault for not grabbing them. The one out to the sidelines was so damn high that he had to use only 1 hand otherwise that corner would have crushed his ribs. Is it worth it for 3 yards? I certainly don't think so.

I look at the OL and it is bad. Trey Teague is really sucking it up as center this year. Not having M. Williams is hurting as well. Bernie has no speed and is doing a poor job of blocking. One bright note has been Gandy. I thought he has played well considering he had big shoes to fill.

Finally, most of you are trying to compare this season to last and JP vs. Joe and the Volcano (Eli, Carson, etc.). We are going to suck it up this year. Last year, we played relatively weak teams (I'll throw Seattle in there because they were all over the map) and we don't have that luxury this year. We can beat the worse 7 or 8 teams in this league and that's about it. There won't be no 6 game winning streak this year. With respect to JP, I look at past history and it isn't on his side (I'm talking about his college days). The guy really wasn't that good at Tulane. As with Rob Johnson, everyone looked at the tools but the decision making wasn't there. Isn't Rob and JP eerily similar? I certainly think so.

  9. Lets make a comparison if I might here.

Cincy drafts Carson Palmer in 03 and he sits the entire year

Cincy names Palmer starter in 04 over John Kitna who was 8-8 the year before, Palmer goes 1-3 in his first 4 starts.  The Bengals finish the season 8-8 2 games shy of a wild card

2005 Palmer is still the starter with a year of NFL starting experience under his belt and the Bengals are 4-0 and sitting on top of the AFC Central.

    Man this sounds kinda similar...

2004 The Bills draft JP Losman and he sits the majority of the year minus a few meaning less plays towards the end of the season.  (Yes I know he was hurt, but did anyone seriously expect him to start?)

2005 JP is named the starter and so far is 1-3 in his first four starts....Think I see a pattern here

2006  The sky is the limit, as long as we dont run JP out of town like every QB since Jim Kelly

We need a little patience here instead of labeling the kid a bust after 4 starts, plus we have 12 more games to play.  a 7-5 record in those games isnt that hard to accomplish and I would be content...not happy, but content to have an 8-8 record with a 1st year starting QB.

With that said here is what I feel needs to change over the next 12 games:

TC needs to put the ball in McGahee's hands at least 25 times a game and quit putting us in positions where we have to pass all the time.

Cut the amount of Draw plays called in half...no one is concerned with us passing so they arent going to bite.

Trey Teague needs to be moved out of the center position and possibly back to tackle with the absence of Mike Williams.  Trey has looked lost since he started playing center.  He misses so many plays up the middle its not even funny.  Every time I see defensive player get through the middle Trey is always looking some where else

Shaud Williams needs to get a few games films of Warrick Dunn and study them every night.  And please teach him to take the ankles out from those blitzing...it might be a sissy play but it keeps defenders off our QB on 3rd down.  Heck even Deuce McAllister ankle bit Schobel today, but he kept him off of Brooks.

Why isnt Terrence McGee returning punts???  Jonathan Smith's 15 mins of fame has been up for about an hour now

Nate Clements, you want top corner money??? Start playing like one...top corners dont make stupid mistakes that give teams first downs 2-3 times a game.

Coach Mularkey, grow a set and get a little more aggressive when the game is on the line.  Punting with 5 mins left in the 4th quarter is a give up play.  I'd rather lose 26-7 and have done everything possible to win than lose 19-7 and and walk off the field 5 mins early.

Jerry Gray,  lets change up the blitz package every once in a while.  Clements' blitz that stopped Deuce in the backfield was brilliant...blitzing Milloy once every 2 or 3 plays isnt...quit leaving McGee on an island with Vincent as the only deep protection.  Let make the opposing receivers fear a nice big hit from Milloy (especially considering he's playing with a broken thumb and cannot tackle as well)

TD, find us a capable TE.... please.  Neufeld is next to worthless, Euhus still isnt healthy, and Campbell hasnt been anything to write home about since he's been here.  Everett doesnt look like he'll be seeing the field this season.  ( I dont recall if he is able to play football or not, but Chad Lewis is currently a free agent and couldnt be any worse than what we already had on this team if he can still play.)

    462538

Carson Palmer was a #1 overall pick. So was Eli. JP isn't. In fact, JP's numbers sucked at Tulane and I still can't believe he was a first round pick. The guy isn't a wiiner something that scares the hell out of me. At least Carson and Eli were.

Search Losman statistics tulane and see for yourself. This guy is a lemon!
