  1. It doesn't sound like they are too interested in competing for Clements, Fletcher etc on the open market which is no surprise since Ralph has been whining about money since last season.

Marv also made it sound like the Bills aren't too interested in making a big splash in free-agency but he sounded like they will go out and sign a few Robert Royals instead.

Marv didn't give anyone the impression that the Bills are ready to do what ever it takes to get this team to the next step which wasn't a good PR move since the team just raised ticket prices but needs to renew season tickets.

I rarely agree with the guys on GR55, but they hit the nail on the head when they said that it was a very depressing presser.

Seeing that the Bills have a much tougher schedule next season, be prepared for a step backwards in '07.

    :worthy:

    Agreed!

  2. fletcher out .

nate I think they will try to keep him .

marv not showing his hand .

if that's the case they have less than 2 weeks to sign him before other teams get a shot march 1st. My ? is are they even negotiating right now with Nate. Screw London I love him but he is way too old for the $$$ he will be seeking....

  3. Really? I didn't get that sense at all. I thought he knew exactly where the Bills plan to go in free agency and didn't want to reveal too much. I thought he tipped his hand too much, but thats partially why I love this regime over the previous dark overlord.

I guess Marv is so usually well spoken and in command and yes was a breath of fresh air after TD but today I was blown away by several of his comments...everyone in B-lo heard Willis' comments and he didn't??? He wasn't aware of the Franchise Tag terms, says he loves the WR corps but later says they will look to improve WR. Aaron Merz possible solution to OL? etc. To me today he was all over the place, like Howard Simon said I wished this was a rah rah we have the 2nd most cap room to spend, this is what we're going to do..... I all heard today was trying to re-sign their own and bank on that and look for another RB to challenge WM. It sounded like complete confusion...how many times did Marv say he wasn't sure or didn't know or wasn't aware of that? If Marv is GM for PR purposes today the Bills PR campaign failed.

  4. WGR bashing marv

In my opinion they should....and I until now had nothing but great things to say about Marv but today he was either unprepared or extremely overwhelmed with FA and the draft coming up. I got no sense of directon as other posters have said....Keep in mind it wasn't Shoop bashing Marv it was Howard which carries more weight

  5. Is it me or does Marv appear to be dazed and confused....he wasn't sure if franchise tag meant top 5 or top 10 salaries, didn't know about Willis' comments, salary cap confusion and in general appears to be unprepared. To me who the hell is the GM? It's very obvious now that Marv is nothing more than a PR move and others are runnings the show....obviously with his input. Further he doesn't appear to be up on the latest NFL news concerning players who want trades dre bly, the draft, etc. I totally agree with howard!!!! totally unprepared can't wait to hear Sully's comments on this one!@

  6. Peter/Ramius/Willis Apologists,

Nobody would be saying anything about Willis if he simply was a "productive" running back. Antonwain Smith was by no means a good RB here but at least he was consistent. Travis Henry had his shortcomings, but at least he laid it out on the field everytime he went out there... and those are the types of players that this town identifies with.

Perhaps the slams on Willis' intelligence are harsh and/or unjustified... but if his production came close to matching the hype and if he played hard on a consistent basis, nobody would be bringing up the ticky tac things going on in his personal life.

agree totally----however what did we all expect when we draft over-hyped recent players from the so-called U?

  7. Does anyone know or remember the sabre's game schedule full color calenders that featured the opponents logo along with gray or gold shaded (away/home) game days along with a pic of a player for a particular month?? in the 80's as a kid i remember them but haven't seen them around. Are they still available for sale somewhere or me just wishful thinking??? rather than make my own with excel and get fired, i'd rather support the local economy if possible....Thanks

  8. I've been under a rock past 3 days working my bones off haven't heard who exactly is at the Senior Bowl. Is Tom Modrak?? i don't think marv nor DJ are there as the staff isn't all together.....Anyone have any reports re: Bills officials there? I'm worried that we don't have any Coordinators there unless Fairchild took a redeye???? I did see chargers scouts and others like the titans staff but they are coaching i believe. Thanks

  9. torn achilles is a devastating injury that as far as i can tell usually ends a players or career or at least slows them considerably.  lawrence was slowed considerably and retired a year after coming back at the age of 33.  and yesterday we learned that former bills TE riemersma is retiring due to the injury too.  anyone have a good handle on usually happens, examples of careers it ended or shortened and examples of players that came all the way back?  i'd obviously love it for takeo to come back 100%, but i wonder if we're all being a bit dilusional by not focusing on the real potential for a new OLB to replace him.

AFter reading this/........it does make AJ Hawk (if available @ #8) a real sexy hard to pass pick!

  10. That offence was set up for a new QB to come in and learn as he played.  He was not asked to throw 24-30 times a game.  I think the offence should get most of the credit there.

You've got to be kidding right, while Pittsburgh's offense was based on the run, the fact remains though with all the steelers injuries on line and at RB in 2004, ben shouldered a helluva lot more than what you are thinking....give the kid his due as he more than avoided the sophmore jinx with another fine season again this year!!!

  11. LOL jerry sullivan perhaps???

on a sidenote, my buddy interns currently at OBD. he stated this AM that there is a very melancholy mood circulating around. Some are shocked, most not sure what to believe, others like 1 asst coach he saw are relieved as they feel DJ will retain them. Many thought Sherman would have wanted to clean house. My friends opinion of course...FYI

  12. good god, did EVERY ONE OF YOU get your period today?

everytime i think the volume of pissing and moaning cannot possibly get any worse, it goes to a whole new level!  and it is much more depressing than the new coaching hire.

i have no idea how this guy is going to do, but no one else here does either!  just watch and wait...THEN you can cry when we still suck in a year or two.

    :D it is mind-boggling!

    Yes it is.

i think it's just frustration from the start of last season thru now--everyone wants instant gratification like the old days yet i hardly doubt 2 80+ administrators are up to the task. there has not been much lately to be positive about and people are just venting. Take it in stride. i for one have my doubts about the new coach let alone levy but as you said time will tell. I feel though looking at his qualificatioins versus others out there people are having a hard time believing that marv's choice is a good one. Much like a candidate applying for a job, qualifications must be looked at. Looking at DJ's qualifications hardly speak volumes compared to other candidates i.e. Sherman--hence the peoples frustrations. Like everyone else on this board, we want a winner and certainly bringing someone in with a winning background sure would help our optimism.

  13. olson as OC damn i should apply---taken from the lions website: On November 28, 2005, Greg Olson was named offensive coordinator for the team's remaining five games. hell i only got 5 games less experience as he does. damn i should have applied!!! :D

  14. This is total BS!!! looking at all the crap pool of candidates less Sherman the Bills interviewed obviously Marv was gonna go with the guy he knows. What really floors me is the supposed new OC Olson. how on earth can this guy be on the rise???? He's been their OC for 5 games!!! hired in November of 2005! Look at the talent of detroits offense excluding QB---They ranked 27th in offense one frickin' spot ahead of the Bills! hmmmmmmmmm yeah Marv that's an upgrade!!! settle in for a long long season....

  15. I will boycott any newspaper that has a reporter present who does not put the screws to RW and ML. There better not be any soft-gloving today.

Not to worry the buffalo news will be there in full force....with kid gloves. i can see already Allen Wilson's next penmanship piece.....next offensive coordinator will be either either candidate A or candidate B based on his sources....this is enough info to fill 2 weeks of articles.

  16. Simply put while i generally don't agree alot with these pretender websites, i do agree with this one from Realfootball365.com's article: "At this point, trying to read the Bills' organization and figuring who their new head coach will be is about as easy as quantum physics. Most Bills fans that I've spoken with want Sherman, but will the organization see it that way? Either way, the team needs to find a successor to Mike Mularkey right away. The Senior Bowl practices begin next weekend for college players, and that's where coaches scout college players with the remainder of the staff. How are the Bills going to put a staff together in time for next weekend and be adequately prepared for scouting? It's imperative that they name a coach by the end of this upcoming weekend"

yeah we have our "scouts" but that is exactly what worries me....thank god at least for modrak!!!

  17. agreed -- that's our job!

Yet, if there isn't any news don't speculate either. I think his point was first the News was all lover Hasslet now it's EITHER Juron or Sherman. If you don't know allen wilson then don't do the espn thing and speculate. According to Wilson's article, Bobby April is out then...why not state why that is as he has done to bulid the case with Juron and Sherman? I and you both know April is a long shot but....do we really know??? I haven't heard Marv rule him out just yet. IF we are to report on the facts then the fact remains April is still in the running yet why omit him?
