  1. I need to hone in on Deans technique,

Senator didn't take to kindly to my putting choice words in his mouth/post earlier this morning, although I probably went to far when I (he) said he agreed with dog about Trent Edwards and seen a little of Brett Favre, Joe Montana, and Kurt Warner in TE,

Only so much a man can tolerate I suppose...I never realized how much fun it could be...

Dean and I have been shoving knitting needles into each others' ass cheeks for several years.

  2. Shawn Nelson is very capable of running good pass routes , decent speed, good size, is used to being double covered throughout college and still produced, I wonder If any consideration has been given to Nelson (Shawn that is) at the WR position to get him onto the playing field, especially in the red zone.

His college curriculum vitae is one thing. As far as his 1st year NFL accomplishments, not much so far. But yes - I would certainly be giving him some wr duty in camp.

I'm a big believer in training players in alternative positions.

  3. I have a hard time believing the team will part with any picks at this stage of the rebuild. IMO, they'd rather choose their own young players than give up a pick for a proven veteran. Not saying I agree with the FO, but it's what I think they believe in.

Still the WR corps is thin and UDFA's aren't a realistic solution. At least not this season.

I wasn't advocating purchasing an old vet. I would like to see them purchase a youngster off of somebody's roster, get him some camp time, instead of waiting for the bargain basement cuts.

  4. Don't know for sure, but I would bet, like every other business, GR is trying to get more work out of fewer people.

Probably so. A few weeks ago, a name in the CIN media passed on. The article mentioned that he brought the concept of "reporter-cameraman" to the local market. Our newsbunnies and newsbeaus often set up a tripod with a camera, walk around, flash the toothy smile, tousle the hair, and report.

  5. that came from a great thread...I deemed it more than worthy of acknowledgment...I busted a gut over that one.

You must, absolutely must get your hands on The Oxford Book of Humorous Prose - a Conducted Tour by Frank Muir, Oxford University Press, 1990, ISBN 0-19-214106-6.

I steal material from it on a regular basis.

My wife loves popcorn. I bought her one for Valentine's Day many years ago. She was pissed at me. (A kitchen gadget for Valentine's Day?!?!?!?!).

Until we made the first batch. Now she thinks it's one of the best gifts ever.:wallbash:

If you recall, I was fooling around with putting the contents of a MW bag into the Whirly-Pop. I determined that the addition of a teaspoon of oil (I used light olive oil) did the trick.

  7. My kids pop Warner coach took responsibility for the loss by not having his team in shape, so I can see the coaches blaming themselves. The problem is, the NFL is not pop Warner and those tricks work on 11 year olds.

  8. This in today from the Bills' modern day philosopher, 6'5 240 Lb back up tight end (who runs a 4.5-40 yard sprint), Shawn Nelson, on his take on what his position coach thinks of his work so far in camp:

"His big thing is just coaching technique," Nelson said of tight ends coach Bob Bicknell. "If that's my only weakness, my only problem, then that's a good thing for me. [it's good] if it's not running the correct route or making a correct block. It's just technique, that's just a small thing you can work on. You can always get better. It's just simple things like taking your first steps with the left foot or right foot, small things like that. It's nothing big."

So according to our second year 4th round pick with a football world of upside, the only thing keeping him from starting ahead of undrafted Stupar, who cannot run as fast as Nelson and is not as tall as Nelson, is that Nelson can't figure out what foot to lead with out of his stance from play to play.

Once again, we are fed a line of complete crap from both the coaches and players, all because the Buffalo Bills refused to sign starting caliber quality UFA offensive lineman to blend in with and help out our promising draft picks Wood and Levitre from last year. Even if Bell ever does play again this season the kid is a 7th round draft pick who only started about 6 games last year for his entire career, and Hangartner could be every team's quality back up center, but certainly not any teams' starting center.

And so the propaganda spits out daily. "Stupar is better all around." B.S.! Nelson should play every down at TE for the next 10 years for the Bills, period. But the line can't block well enough to be able to take advantage of his "stretch the field" skills.

    What else is new?

Perhaps he needs some dance lessons...

  9. Interesting thought, If there is a lockout,

Is there a draft for 2011?

If the draft occurs and no season is played in 2011, Will there be a draft in 2012?

Would the same order be used for 2012 that was used for 2011? If so, could the team drafting have the two consecutive #1 picks for "11 and "12?

Will there be a team salary cap in 2012?

  10. I bought a house this spring and it has a nice little finished basement section that I'm obviously going to dominate in true man-cave fashion. I'm been dragging my feet but football season is my hard deadline to get at least the TV portion settled.

    ...

    Don't forget to purchase a Whirly-Pop!

Their movie popcorn is killer (it drips with saturated fat...delicious!).

  11. I distinguish b/w movies that tell a sad story, real-life or not ("Schindler's List") with movies that are nothing more than exercises in wallowing and depressing just to be depressing.

My vote in this regard goes to "Far Harbor" with pre-Oscar Jennifer Connelly. Just a bunch of whiny/mopey, self-involved NYC yuppies who you just want to punch in the solar plexi and yell "Cowboy up!" at. I get enough of that in real life that I don't need to go seeking out and paying to watch these same kind of conversations, thank you very much. Seriously, I'd write that whoever wrote that screenplay ought to be shot, but w/o looking it up, I'd say the odds are 9 out of 10 that they've already done that deed themselves.

I almost wrote "Rachel Getting Married" too, but there were at least parts of it that I rather enjoyed, with characters who were humans trying to move on with their lives after an event that defined their family.

Me and wife enjoy the Indie flicks. Our poster MarkV... that gives us the reviews is a great resource.

We only view the PG-13 and down flicks - IMO, if you sit through an Indie R rated or above movie, you will leave the theater with your knuckles dragging on the pavement debating in the mind the best way to do yourself in.

  12. Apparently a vote for Brohm is akin to saying you want to see Trent dead. The Trent lovers take offense (no pun intended) to that.

Poster tempers seem more agitated in preseason - I guess it's pent-up venting since the end of season and angst about the draft picks.

I've had a fair amount of cow pies flung my way, and have tossed a number of them myself (IIRC, one of them spattered on you a while back, - sorry :D ).
