what about the onside kick that bounced off of bruschi's head? I'm really really close to being completely done with the NFL.
It actually bounced off of Cory McIntyre's left hand.
-
Fingers crossed for no injuries on both sides.

I know it's in New England*, but man...the Cassel match-up is making me drool. I hope our DBs feel the same.
If I was a Bills fan, I'd be more psyched about playing the Pats' defense. The pass rush is anemic, Trent should have all day to pick apart a secondary full of rookies.
-
So, who's covering Vincent Jackson next week?
For the Bills' sake, I hope it's not Deltha O'Neal.
-
Don't forget the Special Teams....Actually, the return game was awesome yesterday and gave the offense very good field position in the 1st half only for the offense to self destruct. And Moorman was punting just fine.
How could I forget that? Buffalo's ST has been awesome this year (and the last few seasons as well).

It kills me to say it, but the '08 Bills are fun to watch. With a great running game, a controlled passing game that keeps the chains moving, and a very solid defense, they remind me of the Patriots in the Super Bowl seasons.

I didn't watch the Fins/Pats game - what the hell happened?!?!?! Are the Phins a good team? Or are the Pats falling flat? Or was it both?
The Pats had no pass rush whatsoever and Pennington picked apart their soft zone. Ronnie Brown killed them running out of a formation in which he was lined up at QB.
On offense, the Pats had no vertical game at all, and Cassel was unable to sustain drives. It was bad on all fronts.
Thank God for the bye.

And it's not really close. Congrats, guys.

I hope you're joking. Cassell is horrible.
I guess sarcasm doesn't translate well without emoticons.
-
Don't get too overconfident, guys. I'm sure the Pats will be just fine in the able hands of Cameron from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off".
-
Figured you guys would get a kick out of that.
Considering Matt and Trey are (presumably) Broncos fans, though, perhaps they're the wrong messengers for an admonishment of NFL cheating.

I cannot recall anyone using a disputed Wiki article for evidence before; although I am sure it is commonplace.
Pick your own, then.

ok, what are the logical holes in the argument? You would have to attack his assumptions - which one?
I kind of lost interest about halfway through, but it seemed to me like a lame repackaging of the precautionary principle (please correct me if I've misinterpreted the message).
In that case, here are some of the existing criticisms.

Socialism in what way?
Further state regulation of industry.

If they were willing I would have to guess they would want 2-3rd round compensation.
I doubt they let him go for anything less than a 1st.

During last week's SNL dress rehearsal (where Lorne Michaels decides what sketches and jokes to keep, and which to dump), Peyton Manning rehearsed his monologue.
Amy Poehler was dressed in a Patriots jersey and heckled Peyton, saying "What does Tom Brady and the Circus have in common? They both have two more rings than you."
Peyton stared right back and said, "That's not the ONLY thing he'll have two more of."
Testicles?

The injury isn't expected to threaten Maroney's '07 season:

They could wee draft a RB high, though. Backfield duos seem to be all the rage these days.

I'm real high on Leonard - maybe not as "the guy" in a running attack, but he'd great as one half of a two-back tandem. His versatility will make him a great value for whoever gets him.
On mock had him going to the Pats at #28 (in the mold of some of their "out of left field" type picks), and I wouldn't mind that.

The kicker is that it has tinges of McGahee/Rosenhaus...
Except that Gore is good.

MOCK DRAFT: Mel Kiper's new First-Round Projection | March 13
24. New England (from Seattle) - Patrick Willis, LB, Ole Miss: Production, production, production, that's what you harp on with Willis. This kid finished just about every game, including the Senior Bowl, with 13+ tackles. Then came the Combine Meeting, where he ran an amazing 4.51 at 242 pounds and also came through with a 39" vertical jump.
28. New England - Reggie Nelson, S, Florida: Nelson brings a great deal of versatility to the defensive secondary, as well as demonstrating in the SEC with the National Champion Gators that he is a proven play-maker. He can cover a lot of ground and will hit like you expect from a safety.
If only...
-
When is he projected to go?
I would guess in the 12-18 range. I'd love for him to slip to the Pats at #24, but after his great pro day workout, I doubt he'll last that long. He's a playmaker.
-
Pats gave up #60 for Welker.
I guess the point stands, though, since that gives Miami four of the top 71 picks.
-
i like Siler alright. but if NE gets Willis, ill be furious.
As nice as it would be, I don't see Willis falling anywhere near that far.

It was the "He heard it on the radio, thus, no link." immediate reply to Silent Bob who asked for a link. I guess I just took it in-context.
Yeah, I was just explaining why there was no link. I know as well as anyone that "I heard it on sports radio" reports are almost never true.
Stallworth has his issues (injuries, substance abuse), which is why teams were likely reluctant to commit to him long term, but to pretend he's not a talented guy who gives the Patriots something they don't have (a deep threat) is absurd. As for Stallworth, you're kidding, right? The best he could get was the Pats' 1-year $3.6M offer? Remember that the Pats offered him this deal and he left and interviewed with other teams, none of whom offered him more.
And the Pats added talent but also lost talent.
Who? Dillon?
All but the stanchest Pats-haters (i.e. you) acknowledge that the current roster is FAR better than the one that came within a handful of plays of going to the Super Bowl last year.
How is this any different than when they signed Colvin, Harrison, and Poole in the first few days of free agency in 2003?As I've said, they've gone completely away from what they did previously, by going on a FA spending spree.
Just because you have convinced yourself that the Patriots' front office has never spent any money doesn't make it so. This off-season is typical of the Patriots - they have targeted players who fit the system and signed them to appropriate contracts. If it resembles a "spending spree," it is only because the Patriots, like all other teams, have much more cap room to work with.
Again I ask, will it work?
Based on track record? Probably.

But it would take him an hour to figure out how to smoke it.
