You have a QB that's a Maserati. He's built for bombs away. But instead of building your offense for that, you build it for plodding, 10 yards at a time max, 10 minute drive offense. So I ask, what is the point?

What's the point of having a guy who's designed by nature to bomb the football deep and whose weakness is dink and dunk stuck in an offensive scheme that is built to do just that?

Why not offload him for someone who's better suited for that kind of thing if you refuse to play to his strengths? That's what I can't wrap my head around. It makes no sense.

It’s about at downs, not bombs…

that’s how KC wins, Brady wins, etc.

    That isn't a typo.

Josh Allen is elite now.  Diggs served his purpose, much like Tyreek Hill served his in Kansas City.  They gave shooting star QB's reliable, talented targets they could confidently throw to, helping to establish confidence and develop the QB's mental game.

Hill complained after being traded (at least he watied to make this public when he was already gone) that he wasn't being focused on enough, or getting enough targets...etc.

The Chiefs traded him away, used the assets and cap space to improve other parts of the team, AND then went out and performed even better on offense.  I strongly believe that a reason why this happend is becasue Mahomes was entirely free to run each and every play with the idea that making the most optimal throw is what mattered.  Not to massage an ego or placate a guy wanting a larger role etc.  You can make a strong case KC's WR room isn't any great shakes.  I'd agree with that.  They don't need to be.  Zach Wilson isn't our QB....and he's not the Bills QB either.  Josh Freaking Allen is.  Allen doesn't need elite, high cots WR's to shine now.

I know the Bills are committed to this season as an all in, all chips to the middle of the table type season....that's fine.  I wouldn't even say that it's a bad idea....but I think it would be better if you moved Diggs for all you could possibly get, go sign a couple vets who need to prove it, who have maybe some low self esteem because they've fallen out of favor due to injury etc....get a couple mid level guys who you know are good pros.  Let ALLEN run the team.. let HIM dictate the best place for the ball to go.  It's his job to run as efficient, well managed offense as he possibly can....not make sure pouting WR's see the ball X number of times a game.

Use the resources to add to your team in areas that Allen doesn't directly impact, like the defense etc.  If the guys work out...they move on, sign big deal somewhere else...and you reload with a couple more dudes who need to prove it again.  There is never a shortage of these guys and they overplay their contracts consistantly.  Plus, you'll be supplimenting these WR's with WR's you draft who are cheap and cost controlled.

ALLEN is it. He's why you are 3rd best odds to win Super Bowl this upcoming season.. LEAN INTO IT.

LOL.  Randy Moss was super super super elite with Tom Brady. I’m down with double dipping this draft. The more WR talent, the better.

We're signing only budget guys and letting people like Sebastian Joseph-Day, Julian Blackmon, and Austin Johnson leave the building because money's so tight. But, yeah, Beane would have no problem eating 30+m in a hit for moving Diggs during the Draft.

Just maybe because the older, and often injured “better guys” are too expensive for what they offer? Maybe to get younger in the draft? Or is it because we already have younger players ready to step up?

Beane would have NO problem eating 30 million if he replaces Diggs with a younger, day one kid who didn’t fall flat on his face in the playoffs…

  4. You never know how desperate Jerrah, or others are to win.

Don’t think Beane won’t trade him, even with heavy dead money. I’m thinking it’s going to happen.
We have too many draft choices than open roster spots this year..
We send Diggs, and get a 3rd rounder or early 4th. Package two more picks and move up for another ne, or if lucky, a late 1st, or deal the extra picks we can’t spend to move up further.
Diggs being replaced with a 1st round WR on a rookie number helps negate some of this years dead.
could happen..anything could happen with Beane right now.

  5. Want to win in this game? Want Josh to set the NFL on fire?
Then, we need a monster WR who wins contested catches in this draft. I would go Rome.

We learned a lot from the Sammy Watkins episode, and also from the Julio Jones trade up..

It’s always a flip of a coin, but that’s why Beane makes the big bucks and at this point, we have to gamble.

Although I'm sure Beane is keeping all options open, I have to think this is a little bit of posturing here. He may be trying to gain a little leverage in negotiations with Douglas' agent for a short term extension. Would be shocked if the Bills just cut Douglas outright with what he brought to the table, how good of a fit he is for this defense, and the fact that we traded a legitimate pick for this guy.  I mean you saw how resistant Beane was to let go of Hines after we traded only a 6th round pick, can't imagine he just waists that 3rd for 5th swap.

    My exact thoughts.

Beanes job is to not let things slip, as many see it here. But rather to send subtle messages. In this case, to Douglas in order to renegotiate a short term extension. Tre is not coming back at even 60% at seasons open with an Achilles injury. No chance.
Douglas is going nowhere this season.

    1.  More wr talent is better but not the answer.  See Chiefs

    2.   McDermott does not get the respect he deserves from this fan base
    3.  A cap reset of sorts should be done. White Poyer Morse should be waived and Knox traded for almost anything if someone will take the contract.
    4.  Related to three.    I want the 10 draft picks to make the team and develop.
    5.   The bills will win the Super Bowl with McDermott

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Although, unless they feel confident with the three backups, with one to start at center,  I do think Morse brings leadership, and will play one more year.

IMO honestly, in hindsight, did anybody think we were going to stop Patrick Mahomes with Klein as our starting middle linebacker? They should’ve been in Key West and has been cut twice this year? There was no way we were going to stop the best quarterback in the league from scoring on every drive. Josh would’ve had to of been THE best quarterback in the league absolutely perfect along with his receiving for being absolutely perfect. And now we know what the result of that was.

  9. Beane makes his bones in the draft. He really hasn’t been good enough. Time for him to really step it up.
Too many early misses, and no stud receivers which we desperately desperately need.

The writing is clear..My guess is that he will not be afraid to dump salary in old vets because it is not getting the job done.
he must rely on the draft this year to fill positions where old vets vacated.

How do you figure?  The cap is bs.  Saints again are 100 mill over and not only will be under, again!,  but draft amd sign a couple FA-s

Cap is only BS to someone comfortable with a maxed out credit card. At some point, the bill must be paid. And that bill usually comes due at the worst time….

  11. It’s pretty tough to understand why Bass has fallen off, but he has. Tell me there was someone here comfortable before that kick.
I am sure there is a reason why, and I’m wondering how his mechanics became so shaky.
