1. What violation???? His boss's subjectivity? Give me a break.

So my view on this is different. I'm in the military...

So when a Superior gives you an order you just say ahhh I don't like that one...He does it again, you blow him off again...There would be no consequences??? That's the point his BOSS told him chose the tie or the job he chose the tie, HIS CHOICE.

Thank you for your service to our country.

  2. The few Steelers fans at our office have been wearing their gear since beating the Ravens last week and they wore their gear a couple years ago after beating Baltimore in the championship game. As heart breaking as those losses were for Ravens fans they were good sports and let them wear the gear. I hope this guy finds another car sales job and runs his old dealership out of business.

So these employees were going out and meeting clients in steelers gear the day after the game? How many millions of dollars does your company spend sponsoring the Ravens?

  3. Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner johnny.

    This!

There will be a law suit and out of court settlement for sure on this one. It is against the law, period.

Really??? What law was broken, do you have a link? Since IL is an at-will employment state he can pretty much be fired for anything.

Just fyi...Can an employer terminate me without advance notice or without giving a reason or an unfair reason for the termination?

Yes. Illinois is an "employment at-will" state, meaning that an employer or employee may terminate the relationship at any time, without any reason or cause. The employer, however, cannot discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, marital status, physical or mental handicap, military service or unfavorable military discharge. If you wish to locate additional information on the Illinois Department of Human Rights,

From the IL dept of labor website

  4. Are the Bills stupid. If he left 6 million behind to look for more, how can they offer that contract???? That's insulting. Do the math. 18 divided by 3 is 6! They offered exactly what he left on the table. What about 3 years for 21 million. This is ridiculous. I don't know what to think anymore

You do realize that they don't just divide the total amount of the contract by the years and that's what the player makes, right? It's all about the guaranteed money, that's what's important.

  5. And NO KD health care coverage is not free. It's at a cheaper rate. I know this for a fact. I have union health care coverage, do you? No. So maybe you heard someone or read on some blog that all union people get free insurance. It's wrong. Our whole staff pays into their coverage per month.

Well I know when I had union Health coverage it was free, that was Health, vision and dental, for the family.

  6. I was hoping someone with knowledge in this area would weigh in on this. In my mind, the cost to maintain/upgrade state of the art engineering/physics/chem labs exceeds the sports cost/revenue of a University.

    Is this accurate?

If you take science as a whole yes. I know, for example, Indiana University received over $400,000,000 for their biosciences just this past year. Even after taking out expenses I don't think athletic dept revenues can compete...Now this is just my opinion so if someone has all the facts I'd be interested in reading them.

  7. A great chemistry student might also get a full ride, but he's not spending 5+ hours a day at practice, and traveling all over the country representing his university. He can use that extra time to get a job and pay for his apartment. A Division I athlete, who logs thousands of hours per year IN ADDITION to their schoolwork, has very little free time outside of school, sports, and sleep.

LMAO...RIGHT...If you're a chem student getting a full ride you are probably taking MUCH harder classes than most ball players and would have to keep a GPA above the 2.0(?) that an athlete has to have to stay eligible. As for 5+ hours of practice that time would be spent working on research projects in the lab. Also most colleges that have really good science programs will bring in much more net income to the university than athletics if you look at the grant money they get.

  8. I swam competitively for 8 years.

If you really swam for 8 years you would know how difficult it is to train for say the 400IM, the 200fly oh and btw break the American record in the 100 free. TOTALLY different training for all those events. That is why it is so special NOBODY else can compete let alone set world records in that many different events.

IMO it would be like a track guy do the 100M the 400M and the 400 hurdles AND break world records in all of them.

    BTW swam for 17 years.

  9. I assume this means he has no further military obligation, and will be able to start his football career immediately? Wonder how that works? I always thought the Army players would have to fulfill a 2-4 year military commitment after graduation from the academy??

    GO BILLS!

New rule for pro athletes...The can, if they have a pro contact, a recruiter. I don't remember the specifics but if they stay for more than, I think, three years in a league they can go reserve.

  10. Well, I wasn't trying to get into the whole capitalism and "where is our society headed" conversation. But point taken.

If we keep heading in this direction as a country, by 2020 the average american is on course to pay $1 mil for a 1 bedroom apartment, $10/gallon of gas, $1,000/month car payment, $1,000/month cable bill, $500/month insurance, $300 per trip to the grocery store, and $15 for a pint of beer.

I'm grabbing my fishing pole, a tent, and a gun and moving to Montana.

Car payment as much as cable??? Insurance at $500/mo is low now if you take into account ALL the insurance a person "has to have"...That Montana thing sounds awful good.

  11. Whomever does so correctly will receive a $350 gift certificate to the restaurant of their choice.

Next, the rules. Read them carefully:

If less than three people make it past week 8, the awarded amount stays at $250, but the thread "MAY" be opened to allow those remaining participants to change their picks down the stretch.

So will I win $250 or $350 see I read the rules carefully...

  12. I was at the Bills game in Indy this past year and that place was a morgue. Walking out after the game, you would have thought the Colts lost the game. I saw several crowd shots yesterday that reminded me of the same thing.

I like Peyton Manning, but I have a hard time cheering for a team with fans that don't seem to have a lot of passion when it comes to their team. Sort of like the Hurricanes winning the Stanley Cup last year.:pirate:

I guess the fact that they had to close streets here from all the fans Celebrating...Of course that could be that you weren't here you didn't notice it.

  13. Think I'm gonna do a three pick parlay with:

    Cinnci +1.5

Buffalo -5.5 (NOT a homer pick.  The Bills biggest weakness seems to be run defense. The Jets rushing game is... well, actully... it just isn't.)

    Indianapolis -7

    783923

I wouldn't take Indy. Jacksonville's D is playing very good and Indy's running game isn't. Plus Indy's D is pretty banged up and the VERY short corners they have are going to have a hard time against Jax big WR's. IF the corners were good and just short that's one thing but they are average and short. I took Buffalo same reason and I stayed away from that Cin/Pit game. I would took Chicago and Sea along with Jax and Buffalo for a four team parlay.

  14. At least this guy has Vernon Davis being drafted in the first round.....because the guy who did the mock next to his (Clark Judge) has a guy named "Leonard" Davis being drafted at #10 by Arizona.

    672743

It also seems, looking at the last guys, that Ari is going to convert Winston Justice to a DT...I think I'd try him at his college position first.
