I feel like today, while I'm still hurting and thinking of her, I'm not so overwhelmed with grief.  I'm sad and miss her, I'm also looking at her pic and smiling about how great she was.

I'm guessing this is going to come in waves with how I feel.

I think I've gotten all the tears out. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and yesterday I cried more than I have in a long long long time.

We went through the same situation Aug,2024.   Augustus (Gus) our Basset Hound was 11 years old.   It was one of the most difficult decisions we ever had to make.  The sadness is difficult and definitely comes in waves.   Just remember the good times you had with her and she had with you.  They're only here for a short time.  Which reminds me of a poem....  "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right? Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay for as long as we do"

It gets easier but sometimes for no reason out of the blue you'll think of her. Just smile and be glad she was in your life.   Hell, I just teared up last week thinking about Gus.

Not sure if you've ever read the Rainbow Bridge Poem..

  2. Named Gus our 1st Basset after Emperor Augustus.  Then for some reason he got a nickname.  Goosey.   2nd Bassett Louise aka Weezy, we just thought it was a funny name.  Her nickname became Googs.  The nicknames just fit with their personality.   Goosey passed away 8/21/25 and Googs is now 7.

  3. Wanted a new Ford Edge (dont judge haha) so I read somewhere to get the salesmen out of the dealership.  Dont play on their turf so to speak.  I emailed a few dealers and got quotes.  Whenever they'd want me to come in I'd say that I'm very busy with work and just want the quote.  Then I'd fwd them to the other dealers and got one dealer to come down some off sticker.  Then I got a folder with the quotes and I put some other blank pages in the folder so it looked like I had lots of other quotes.  Went into the dealer and noticed the salesman kept looking at that folder.  He was very interested in what other quotes I had.  When in reality I only had about three.  I got them to come down a little more off sticker.  I forget the final number but I was happy with the purchase.

    1. About 1998, driving to work a lady tried to cut across traffic to enter the highway ramp.  She got T-boned and flipped her Blazer up on the driver side.

    2. Driving home from work and a kid in a Ford Probe who thought it was a Ferrari was driving like an idiot!  I kept up just to see him lose it.  He did when he tried to take an exit from the passing lane and spun it out into a grassy spot and into a huge bush.

    3. Where I rehearse for my band is a room they rent out for parties.  There's a bar upstairs and one night the bartender (about 60-65) couldn't get in touch with his girlfriend for a few hours.  He was closing up and asked me to drive him up to his house, about 4 blocks.   He said she was sick with the flu and was afraid to go in to his apartment.  I went in and found her hunched over in the recliner (head at her knees) so I checked for a pulse.  She was cold and no pulse.  I had to go outside and tell him she was gone.   Called 911 and told them.  Sad seeing him on his knees in front of her crying.   Top it off the cop was a dick to him when he was asking him questions about her health.

  5. This one gets me every time.  Brings back some great memories from when it came out in the 90s.

Not much of a sad song but it reminds me of a difficult time in my life.   One of my absolute favorite songs.

  6. My buds and me played mainly basketball in summer and played in winter leagues at the Boys Club.  Our High School at the time was very good and we'd never make the team. So we'd always play in other leagues in the city.   My high school was always good at basketball.  Gerry McNamara went there years after I graduated.   We'd play football, racquetball, and some baseball.  But the one sport I could NOT get good at was Golf.  There was a summer I couldn't play basketball. (long story) so I tried golf.  I sucked and could not get better no matter how hard I tried.
