  1. i will be rooting for bills in this one.  the KC defense can be had they are not playing very well and by all accounts the Bills D has got back to its roots.

super excited for a good Sunday night game for once.

    Questions

Will josh get the deer in the headlights look he gets in big games?

does KC have the bills number?  it will start to be a thing until it isnt they need this win.

  2. The problem i see going forward with the bills is  balance 16 runs with RB's and 51 passes.  Not every team is going to be able to exploit the bills. Teams with a good pass rush that can pin their ears back and just rush all game because the bills run so little are going to be a problem.

Teams can basically dare the bills to run or not even scheme or worry about it.  The Steelers who normally blitz a ton seen that they could get pressure with just 4, its the same thing that happened to the chiefs in the super bowl.

Agreed - Although if the Dolphins and Pats tie their futures to Mac Jones and Tua, I’m not incredibly worried.  I see a ceiling of high end game manager in both of them.

Zack Wilson is another story… Let’s see how he looks in the regular season, but his ceiling is really high.

seems a little premature but hey whatever floats your boat.

The Titans are a team on the rise and I'll go out on a limb that it will be them and the Bills fighting for the number 1 spot. The NFL is an unpredictable beast and I just don't see the Chiefs as front runner anymore. They were exposed badly by Tampa. Not only that, they have to break in 2 new tackles and you better believe that Frazier w/ an upgraded D-Line is going to send the house. After 2 Superbowl appearances, the odds are stacked against them to make a 3rd one. In fact, only 3 teams have made 3 or more in a row (Bills, Patriots, Dolphins.)

    1) Bills

    2) Titans

    3) Chiefs

    4) Browns

    5) Ravens

idk you can put the chiefs below 2 teams but it seems more Hope than anything.   they are the front runner until proven otherwise they lost one game.

I feel like its a scheme thing, we executed it better in the first contest and got pasted in the second one. The scheme is literally 'take away Kelce and Hill' and force Mahomes to earn every yard, keep everything in front of your front 7. Our biggest issues here were run defense and no pressure from our front 4. Run D was so bad that 'in front' was basically 'free first down' and we just couldn't get Mahomes on his back with our front 4.

Unless the entire OL is second string (like in the SB) the Chiefs effectively will get ~21-24 points just because Mahomes is gonna get his yards, you gotta keep the play in front of you and you're not going to be able to cover Hill and Kelce on every single play. You just have to keep the points around there and score more.

idk if playing zone against mahomes will work i feel like they will eat that up .  needs to be more man + zone/robbers with the free players.   the big thing is getting pressure with 4 consistently.

I'd say they owned us in both games. First one they just ran and it looked closer than it was. We couldn't stop them.

the real question we should be asking is why couldnt they stop them?  could they get no pressure?   Could they not matchup and cover their weapons?

Did they address the problems or is it going to be more the same this year?

If they are so invincible, how the hell did eight teams--including the Panthers and Falcons--come within a touchdown of beating them? Not to mention the two teams that did beat them, by 12 and 17 points in the regular season. And then they lost the Super Bowl by 22 points.

bro they were on cruise control in the regular season  when you are that good you just turn it on when you need a drive  those teams never had a chance ... they went 13-1 mahomes rested the last game.  the NFL is about matchups . like i said TB had pressure with 4 and Speed everywhere  in the back 7 .

the unbiased peter king article from the camp visit summed it well... in both games last season, the bills played the chiefs competetively for the first half, but were outscored and really outclassed in the second half of each, so lets see if we closed the gap as the chiefs worked as well to improve their O line and like most teams had a good draft...who improved more, who is avoiding injuries, etc

the challenge for all the top AFC teams is being able to match up with KC's offense.  You need speed cover guys and you need to get pressure preferably with 4.

if you cant get pressure with 4 mahomes will sit back and eventually find someone.   if you have to blitz  and rely on your cover guys ... do you have the players to match up one on one ?   if not you are toast...

I think Zach Wilson cause you know it’s the Jests. I can see Trevor Lawrence struggle cause I don’t think Urban Mayer will make it in the NFL IMHO.

I agree on Trevor Lawrence Between Urb adjusting to the NFL and his Oline is terrible... the first string line was getting worked by browns backups not a good look.

As far as the others Wilson looked super comfortable and made some really good 3rd down throws.  its still Really, really , really early to be able to make a judgement on these guys.

Yes, I’m glad you see the light.  Lots of teams make the playoffs; not all have great QBs.  The teams who win the SB typically get great QB play during the playoffs.  In Peyton’s case, the Broncos had a tremendous defense but there is no doubt Peyton’s leadership as a HOF QB meant something.

I haven’t scoured this thread but I’m guessing you’re a Browns fan since an earlier post mentioned Baker.  I guess you’re saying he doesn’t need to be great for the Browns to win, and I’d agree with that proposition during the regular season because the Browns have a very good roster.  In the playoffs, however, your QB needs to be better than average.

Yeah, and the teams that pay their non elite QBs like they are elite usually end up without a Lombardi.  If they don’t get a SB win within 2 years and then they sign Baker long term i’d bet that they won’t win one.  Time will tell

yes i am a browns fan that became a bills fan for the short time when the browns left.  i root for both teams now unless they play each other.

well that brings me back to how this all got started with NewEra  i guess it doesnt matter if they sign baker if he plays well in the playoffs ?

see below playoff stat lines   😁

    Allen 60.8%  5TD 1int 87.4 rating

    Lamar 55.88 %  3TD 5 INT   68.3 rating

    Baker 61.97% 4TD   1INT   94.0 Rating

Eli Manning is a borderline HOF QB with two SB wins in which he played great.  Peyton is a HOF QB.  Flacco played that postseason out of his mind.  Only the Philly win falls outside of the “great QBs win SBs” argument — and Brady still almost won it.

QB is everything in the NFL.  There are only a handful of stories of great teams with average QB play who won championships.

ok so now average Qbs as long as they play good in the playoffs its ok got it.   Eli manning played 15 years and only had 30+ tds 3 times meanwhile he has had years when he has thrown 20, 25,27 Int's in a season with a career 60% completion percentage.

Sorry payton manning played horrible in 2015 he had 54% completion percentage averaging 179 yds per game  and had 2TD and 1 interception combined in 3 games lol

the last 10 years 3 Qbs i would call elite have won super bowls  mahomes ,brady ,russ.  meanwhile non elite qbs eli manning, payton mannings corpse, joe flacco ,  wentz/ foles have won superbowls.  just in the last 5 years  goff, jimmy G and matt ryan have made it to the super bowl i think baker is better than those 3.

the point is it is a team sport you can pay your elite QB like Aaron rodgers or drew brees and build a team around them or you can pay your non elite franchise QB like Eli manning and build a team around them.

Whoever builds the better team will have more success the qb matters to a point.
