  1. Imo, we need great pass rushing DE and another legit CB opposite of White more than a Wr.

We have receivers that are more than capable.

    Brown is a number 1.

It all hinges on Allens accuracy and his ability to progress through reads.

Ive been critical of Allen because he hasn't been accurate at all over the last few weeks.

He was extremely accurate on Sunday and his ball placement really allowed receivers to make plays after the catch.

If he can continue to dial in his accuracy/ball placement we WILL put up points.

The talent is here, it just all revolves around Qb play and execution.

Allen and the offense as a whole executed beautifully and we got to sit back and watch an explosion of points and it was wonderful.

Holy crap whoever made that video is SUCH A TROLL!!!

    Those aren't highlights.

    It's pitiful you posted that.

It's even worse if you're the one that made it.

Well I got Rick Rolled as well, but my point remains.  The video DOES show the missed opportunities.

That link is for last year.

We are talking about Allen and his improvement this year.

That video you posted is joke.

    Watch the games.

The passes in the video are a joke, and they're very real.   That's the multitude of missed opportunities and bad throws that have led to our games being so close.

The plays are there to be had.   The points are there to be taken.  That's the point. Its not scheme, and its not play calling.  They are putting Josh in positions to make plays....he's just not doing it.

    Im done arguing.

Believe what you will, we'll let this season play out and see what his stats look like by week 17.

Revamped oline, wrs, te, rb....they upgraded everything around him and he faced a lot weaker opponents than last year.

We will just wait and see.

    Thanks.

This is simply my opinion.   Others have other opinions be it blaming Wrs, offensive coordinators, even the head coach, but I state my opinion and im jumped all over like Im trolling?

Its like, sacrilegious to question Josh Allens performance, stats, or long term viability.

    I don't understand it.

    Go away.

No, Allen is not historically inaccurate.

He's been atrocious on the deep ball. How many of those are thrown in ratio to the rest of his passes?

How many slants are horribly thrown???

Okay, I'll play along. How many?

And before you critique that number, is that number significantly higher than other NFL QBs?

Get back to me when you've bothered to cross reference.

    Come on...lol

Dead last in the NFL last season in completion%

In he's currently sitting at 31st in completion %.

He had the lowest completion % of any Qb taken in Draft.

He is "historically" inaccurate his entire football career.

If you want to critique the kid, at least be honest.

As far as slant routes he is the worst in the NFL, completing on 46%.

I dont have the latest 2019 statistics because I believe you need to be an elite member to access it, but here is the breakdown of various routes.

    https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2019/2018-dvoa-routes-quarterbacks

But simply watch the video above and watch the amount of slant and crossing routes he misses...TONS.   Furthermore its not due to lack of time to throw, nor the receivers inability to separate.  They are just bad throws.

First when comparing O-lines you have to make it a composite of this year and LAST season.  And yea, I'll take Tyrod's O-line during his 20 game tenure over the amalgam of Allen's O-line through his 20 games.

And what about at RB?  A younger, healthy Shady was much better then what we have today.

And McD did a complete overhaul because he wanted to rebuild the defense.  And he wanted tto rebuild the defense because he's a defensive guy.  You do know it's possible for a QB to put up great numbers with a strong group of offensive skill players while also having a weak defense?  In fact that's a recipe for 300 yard passing stats in losing games.

And who's saying Tyrod's QB play was bad?  It was average and that won't cut it at $16,000,000 per year.

Not about the MONEY!  Are you naive!  That extra $11,000,000 we have under the CAP to spend is HUGE when you're trying to sign FA's or trying to keep your desirable FA's.  There's no way we resign White if we're paying our QB $16,000,000 per year next season.

16 million a year is nothing for a Qb.

That amount would put your Qb around 20th in the NFL compared the other 32 starters salary.

Perhaps general, very high level philosophies, but a defensive head coach usually just tries to hire the best coordinator possible to run the offense. Same thing with offensive head coaches who try to find the best defensive coordinator to run the defense.

In fact, I don't think I'd want my defensive head coach to get too involved in offensive strategies. I don't believe they are qualified.

    Of course they're qualified.

A defensive minded coach knows how to stop an offense, therefore he must know how that offensive operates in order to stop it.   He is also aware of the weakness of his defense and how it can be attacked and act accordingly to ensure it doesn't happen.

Likewise, its the same as being an offensive minded coach.  It all comes down to which side you are more passionate about and wish to persue a career in.

  8. 59 minutes ago, transplantbillsfan said:

You don't believe that offensive philosophies are driven by the Head Coach?

Honestly, Allens inability to accurately deliver a pass is whats holding back the offense.

Does he get confused out there sometimes?   Sure, he's young. That is part of the development.

But missing recievers left and right when they are clearly open time after time is what the problem is.

How many slants has he horroribly thrown?   How many sure fire Tds has he overthrown?

    Watch them for yourself.

At this level, the majority of your development should be reading defenses, understanding where to go with the ball, and how to put your recievers into advantageous match-ups and audible when necessary to do so.

He is historically inaccurate his entire life. Its not going to magically change at this level, especially when he's trying to learn and understand all the real developmental processes.

  9. I felt Garrett had some questional play against Allen last week too. I felt he should have been flagged a time or two.

This guy gets very upset when he's not able to make an impact play or bring down a Qb.

10 second to go in a game and you do some stupid ***** like that?  With the lead and the win?

This guy is over the top and last night proved it.

The league made the right call here.   I'd expect nothing less than the penalty they levied.

Fans make me ill to think about. Players lay it on the line every game but the fans basically want the players to play for free and then kiss the owners ass while said owner is overcharging fans and in the Bills case putting an terrible product on the field.

People who compare players on a football team to being like employees are their crumb ass job is a joke. Get well Quincy

    Play for free?

Its a job, like any other job. Doesn't matter what it is.   These atheletes are paid well, period.   This guy is getting paid 25k a day, 365.  He misses two days, unexcused.  Hes docked his pay.  Its not excessive.  Its business.

These players need to grow up and keep their complaints out of social media.

Kids follow these players and they blow up the media with curses and complete disrespect for the league and team that gave them everything.

    It makes ME ill.

    Freedom of speech?

Its not freedom of speech.   His comments are detrimental to the franchise's business.  He's not only trashing his employer in a public forum but also releasing pictures of private property.

    There are consequences.

Is it feedom of speech to yell FIRE in a movie theater when there's no fire?

Try telling that to a judge while he's handing down your sentence.

  12. Enough is enough with these players taking to social media crying because they got punished, fined, benched, etc.

    Its beyond ridiculous, and unprofessional.

This guy takes a 4 day weekend, doesn't show up to work, doesn't call off to tell work he won't be there, then gets mad he's been penalized?   In the real world you'd be fired buddy.

The league needs to come down hard on these social media posts.

1st offense - mandatory 4 game suspension without pay.

2nd offense - mandatory 8 game suspension without pay.

3rd offense - mandatory 16 game suspension without pay and team rights to terminate players contract without repercussions.

    Enough is enough all ready.

My apologies if this is in another thread somewhere, but it occurred to me that Daboll may have a mandate to develop Josh Allen as a QB at virtually all costs, even if it means possibly risking wins this season. The reasoning would be that we are very unlikely to win without more talent and experience anyhow, and we will need a top flight QB to win in future years. We are better off developing an elite QB, instead of squeaking out every victory we can, only to never win the big prize because we lack the QB we need.

This would explain why we opened the season with 18 straight passes, as if Daboll was intentionally trying to get Allen into a rhythm regardless of what might be more likely to succeed. It explains why the Bills are so reluctant to become a running team, even though it seems like running the ball more might lead to more wins. It even explains why Allen has played more conservatively of late--because not playing hero-ball and becoming more turnover free is essential to a top flight QB. I expect that now that he has (arguably) gone too far towards playing conservatively, they will try to nudge him back towards playing more aggressively.

In short, I am suggesting that Beane, McDermott and Daboll are all on the same page here--a long game strategy of developing an elite NFL QB . The wins and losses this season are secondary.

Part of me has doubts about this perspective, because so many careers depend upon winning and losing right now--both players and coaches. It is hard for me to believe that they are not doing whatever they can to win right now. But when I see what they are doing with Allen and the running game etc., I can't help but think I am right.

Allen just isn't making the throws.   Guys were open all day.

Scheme was great, preparation was great, execution was terrible.

I can see the accuracy issues. I know he scored high in the wonderlic test. I don't know how football intelligent he is, he seems more of an instinctive Tyrod/ Newton player to me than a manning/Brady type in terms of his football intelligence.. Ore athletic than cerebral on the field.

Well I can only go off of what I've heard him say in pressers after games.  When asked about specific passes during the games, he always seems to recall them, what coverage the defense was in, what they were trying to do defensively, and that he just wasn't able to connect on the pass play.

I also remember reading or seeing somewhere during the draft process they called him on the phone and quizzed him about coverage's they had gone over the prior week or two before during his visit.  He remembered them all.

I've have to believe OBD believed Allen had all the mental aspects the were looking for as well as the physical tools, but accuracy was his biggest weakness.  I really think that they believed they could work on mechanics and technique to make him a more accurate passer, knowing he had everything else.

C'mon guys, look at whats happening here!

This young QB is being developed by a guy who thought Nathan Peterman should start ahead of him!!!

The entire Bills world wants to see Singletary get the ball more and  what does this brainiac OC do? Has the young, inexperienced QB throw 41 times against a team that is #7 in passing yards allowed along with the #2 sacker in the league.

Meanwhile, "Motor" went 8 rushes for 42 yards against a supposed "stacked" defense with a 5.3 yards per carry average. In the first half Allen had 19 passes, Singletary 3 rushes. WTF!

Just pray that this team doesn't get behind in points over the next 7 games! Because this lame OC then forces the QB to carry the team by going pass happy and forgets the run game. He did it a lot last season too.

Not sure where you are getting those stats from.  The Browns rank in the middle of the league in passing  yards allowed.  14th before this weeks game.

Genuine question: how football smart do people think Allen is? Has he developed his reading of defenses?

I think he's pretty football smart and he's not a dumb individual.  He hasn't by any means mastered reading a defense, he still looks tentative at times in the pocket, like he's unsure.  Other times he does not. That's expected at this point.

My main concern for him is accuracy.  It was the biggest question coming out of college.  Can he deliver the ball accurately to receivers?  When I say accurately, I mean hitting guys in stride with good ball placement for YAC.  At the end of the day that is what racks up yards and leads to big plays.
