Serious question; wasn't the biggest issues with our passing game the lack of explosive plays and receivers who could stretch the field?  How exactly does Coleman solve either of those issues?  At least he does catch TDs.

Samuel and Shakir are fast guys.  We also desperately needed an X receiver that can block, catch passes even when not open, be a redzone threat, and has great size.  Not much of those guys were available.

By the way as I calculate my 7 round mock I had Dewayne Carter going 99th so he was a 4 pick reach imo lol

I wonder how much tape you actually watch to come up with a whole 7 round mock.  Some of you guys are really something else.  I get it's fun but the reality is you don't have much to go off.  No interviews, no talking to teammates and coaches. No in depth film analysis.

Top bolded-  I don’t believe that at all.  WR1 needs to be able to get off press. Coleman has major issues and that may never change

Bottom- and then there are people who know football, that think he’s a 3rd rd prospect and out of the top 10 WRs in the draft.

Strange... Beane just said he does a good job getting off press coverage.  I'll take his word.

They didn't have a HUGE hole at CB.........White, Johnson and Jackson are 3 good starters.

They have a lack of proven, high quality depth.

Which is also the case at WR.......LT.......DE........Safety......Guard......a lot of positions........they aren't just overloaded everywhere.

And some of those positions have proven A LOT harder to fill/address than the relatively easy-to-fill CB position in Buffalo.

You are just assuming that Tre White won't make it back and that now the rookie Elam will be ready to step right in for him and excel if he doesn't.

Two assumptions and there is plenty of reason to believe that neither may be right.

I am tired of arguing against the HUGE HOLE theory.......... the same way I was rolling my eyes in dismissal at you when you thought the Bills season was over after Tre White got injured.

And I was proven right..........they then proceeded to play their best football the next two months with a 6th rounder and UDFA starting at CB.

Sure they had a couple bad games defensively because of a lack of pass rush.........but Tre White probably played the worst game of his career at KC in the AFCCG  so assuming that he or a rookie CB would make ANY difference whatsoever in those exact situations is just rosterbation.

It's not consistent with what we've seen from this team/defense under McDermott.

Glad you aren't making any decisions.  Even the GM admitted it was a position of great need, along with anyone who has watched the team over the last year.  We lost one of our starters and the other is injured.  Yea lets just roll into the season like that.  Dane Jackson isn't horrible and still has room to get better but he definitely isnt good enough to go into the season as the only starting option.  CB was definitely a huge hole compared to the other positions, and I think a lot of people overthought it.

Because the team you jumped had no need for that position you could have waited three minutes and still have your 4th round pick seems pretty clear to me

So how could you be certain that another team didnt trade up with Dallas.  Bottom line is he was sold on this player and didnt want to lose him.  He valued the player over potentially losing him over a 4th rd pick.

Still makes zero sense to throw away a pick no matter how you try to rationalize it

How it is zero sense to secure a player at need that you would love to have on your team.  You are basically saying am I willing to lose this player over a 4th?  Beane knew he needed this player and made it happen.  Its pretty simple.

That's any genre.  You are never going to please everyone when it comes to music.  Just enjoy it for what it is.

Not that long ago we thought Brenda was “the man.”

Totally different.  Brieda had a couple good runs in limited action.  Singletary has proven over the last few games to be running the ball very well.

I'd be interested.  He wants to catch footballs.  We've got footballs to catch.  He's not a guy who gets in trouble off the field.  I'm ok with a moody WR.

Do we really?  Diggs isn't even getting enough targets.  Beasley has games where he isn't targeted.  Gabe Davis isn't getting much burn at all and it isnt because of lack of talent.  Where are these footballs that are left to catch?

Was he a problem? He was hurt. Maybe and OBJ don't mix well. Run run run 1st offense.

I honestly just don't see it as a good fit.  He needs to be somewhere he can be featured.  We cant even get the ball to Diggs enough right now.  Imagine throwing Beckham in the mix.  Not worth the risk IMO.  Josh also loves to run, so isn't like we have a QB who throws all game either.

I don't think OBJ has been a problem when things were going good. That's the point. The Browns passing game is terrible. He might be part of that but it's mostly Mayfield from what I see. With the Giants it was the same thing.

Any OBJ deal with the Bills would be half a season. He isn't going to act up.

Browns were very successful without him last year.

The Browns had been the laughing stock of league for a generation, but Mayfield got national endorsements pretty quick--because of his notoriety in college.

In the greater NFL realm, few people had heard of Josh Allen before he was drafted....because he came from a school in the middle of nowhere.  Since then, he has had one above average season.  If the Bills win the SB, or at least go to it, maybe he'll get some endorsements.   Like Mahomes.

Allen had an above average season?!  Are you really gonna just downplay a great season to try and prove a point?

I already said if we win the SB the endorsements will come in, but Mahomes was getting the endorsements before they won the super bowl.  He wasnt a big college star.  Point is buffalo players always have to do a little extra for that recognition.

This is an ownership the suspended its own Minister of Propaganda for (briefly) acting (sort of) as a member of the press by describing on the team's radio show where a few players were lining up in training camp....

Main point I was making is the current owners seem to market the team and players a little better.  Suspending Chris Brown was probably just a little warning shot to others, but it doesnt mean they arent welcoming to the media.

Either way main thing I was trying to say was the owners look to be trying to make our team more likeable to the media in general.  To me it seems they also saw how the national media, fans, and players from other teams viewed the franchise and set out to fix it.  Its why they went over the top on the training facility.  Its like hey look over here this is the new Buffalo Bills, we arent scared to spend money, we want the league to notice us finally.

Huh?  What's this got to do with the Bills?

Most outsiders do not respect the franchise (because we lost all the super bowls, and have been losing for a long while).  I think Josh not having any big endorsements are because of the team he plays on.  We will have to win the big one before all that comes (and I think its coming soon), but the reality is our players have to stand out a lot more than some other players to get some recognition nationally.

It’s not hard to get. There’s just nothing supporting your speculation other than that’s what you believe.

Which endorsements should he be getting?

Bills fans are so insecure. Everything is taken as disrespect for some strange reason.

Not really taking it as disrespect.  I think when we win the super bowl this year we will get the recognition.  Was simply pointing out in my opinion, based on what I have seen over the years Bills players do often get overlooked because we didn't win any of those super bowls and have been losing since.

I also think the Pegulas are doing a much better job marketing the team and putting the franchise in a better light than Wilson did in his last years.  I think there are a lot of politics behind the scenes and having owners who actively market, promote the team, and make the media welcomed plays a big part in this.

I think you’re really reaching with this. We’ve had players make the Pro Bowl in years we were bad. We’ve had players make All Pro teams recently. Good players get recognized, albeit it’s harder when you play for a bad team but that’s the case pretty much everywhere. Josh is widely considered one of the best QBs in the league and is about to be paid like one. Not sure I get what your beef is.

The OP made mention about Josh not having and major endorsements.  I pointed out that thats one of the weak points of being on our franchise.  I dont see whats so hard to get.

Yes we have had players make the pro bowl after the first and second string declined.  Yes we have had all pro players who probably should have been all pro from the year before.

Of course we are going to pay Josh, I don't see what that has to do with the topic.  And yes he is widely considered one of the best players, but yet he isn't getting the endorsements he probably should.

  16. 44 minutes ago, Bangarang said:

I think it depends entirely on the player. I’m sure it’s possible that some of the more elite free agents have taken it into consideration at some point.

Consider how many elite players there are in the league without big time endorsements. Do their franchises look bad because of it? These guys are also in big market cities as well. Players want to win and get paid. I think you’re overstating this endorsement stuff.

Thing is it goes a lot deeper than just endorsements.  It also bleeds into all star voting, all pro voting, hall of fame, etc.  Players love to be recognized.  Out of all the Qb's that are considered top 5 Josh probably is the only one without any major deals.  We are just lucky Josh isn't an egomaniac because the wrong qb would be counting his days to get to a more marketable team.  Players want to win and get paid, but most also love to be seen.

The part about how it’s not a good look for the franchise.

Do you think players and agents take that kind of stuff into consideration?

Now winning cures everything, but as of right now we are one of the least marketable franchises.  I collect cards, and although Josh Allen cards are going for a pretty penny, I cant help but believe that they would be even higher if he played for another franchise.  A lot of times on facebook when collectors are calling out the top qbs they are looking to buy, Allen is left out and lesser players are listed.
