I hope to see Bills run the ball more and get a little more balanced, but being familiar with Daboll they probably won't very much.

If it's not broke don't fix it...? I feel your pain; Miami was averaging 4 ypc against NE then stopped running the ball for whatever reason smh.

  2. Looking forward to the upcoming game against you guys. Miami gets Will Fuller, Preston Williams, Austin Jackson, and maybe Adam Shaheen back next week so the offense should get a boost. I pray they resign McKinney because the run D is still an issue. NE and Miami always play an ugly, and boring, game so hopefully Miami shows a bit more in this matchup.

Hard to say, but they signed some big type FA last year to multi-year deals and then in one off season started cutting them during this off season.  That in and off itself is not an issue, but several players seemed to balk at several of the cuts and trades and talked about losing major locker room leadership and vocal guys.

Then you have the issue with their top CB not dealing with his contract dispute in house, but using the media - again showing a lack of respect and then winning and getting his demands - makes you question how things are done.

Tua though is the biggest issue.  They started him last year, but it was obvious that the coaching staff was not comfortable with the decision because every chance things went a touch sour - they pulled him for Fitz.  Then tried to smooth things out by going back to him.  Then this off-season which should be huge for Tua - they begin looking at Watson as a trade at QB.

Again showing a lack in confidence at the most important position.  Then you follow that up with another interview where the HC instead of putting the flames out - fans the flames by beating around the bush.  Then he meets with the team to give the “full backing of the team” speech, but at the same time denies that he needed to do that and then poorly navigates that interaction as the rumors come out that the owner wants Watson to join the team.

The final straw to me in the lost of respectability is the way some of his players talk about Tua on national broadcasts - there isn’t this talk of leadership and growth - it is very muted.  I think the players don’t believe he is the long term answer and that the team is trying to get someone else in place and they don’t want to say something and have it contradicted or have the team make them look bad.

I think you are right the sign of a leader is how they handle adversity- see McD with the Peterman choice in SD.  That decision could of cost him a locker room, but he talked with the team leadership and they navigated it and still made the playoffs.

Conversely- Flores poorly handled the Tua situation last year and really poorly handled the decisions and choices as if it was out of his hands.  Then he moved on from respected leadership within the locker room that many players questioned and now he has poorly handled the Watson rumors.  I think all 3 show a muted lack of leadership by the HC.

Does the bad outweigh the good? Because I think that's all that matters to the players. You as an opposing fan  can not like how a HC handles situations but it won't matter if the team is succeeding.

A beat writer mentioned that Flores has one flaw and later hinted at it dealing with veterans. If I had to guess, it's probably the next man up mentality that he has.

Tua has gotten tons of praise from his teammates for his leadership this offseaon. The rest is opinionated honestly.

How does that change things?  It's one thing to draft a guy and have these allegations pop up.  It's another to know they're out there and then give up a lot to get him just because you're desperate to win games.

It doesn't change things at all. Miami trading for Deshaun hasn't happened, and most likely won't, because of what's going on with him right now.

My prediction was based on if Watson were innocent. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

What do you think about your team's pursuit of Watson?  Sorry if you answered earlier.

I think if the price was right they'd make the trade. Grier, and especially Flores, do not care about perception and rules that most teams abide by. The only reason that I think it didn't happen already is again the allegations, the price is too high, and the fact that Flores has taken a liking to Tua.

Are you not concerned about this, though? I'd be concerned if Josh wasn't captain or even run for captain in 2019.

Not at all. Tua is not the most vocal guy. It's already been confirmed by multiple players that he's taken steps to be more of a leader this offseason. A letter on his jersey isn't going to affect how well Miami plays. People seem to have an issue with Tua so this was going to be blown up either way.

Jerome Baker and Christian Wilikins are probably the most vocal and likeable players on the team and they're not captains. That's weird.

The Dolphins the last 5 months:

2 OCs will be calling plays

    Tries to trade for Watson

Watson slammed with sexual assault charges

    Drafts the wrong Miami DE

Drafts a nice slot WR in the top 10...I guess

The CB Miami coaches essentially said wasn't athletic enough to cover Diggs, Xavien Howard demands trade; wants new contract 1 year after signing one; he doesn't report to camp

Team caves says they will give him a new contract after the season.

Last week of camp word leaks they will be trading for Watson

    Houston does not trade Watson

Coach has to hold meeting saying Tua is our guy......for now

    Tua not named a captain

Brian Flores, leader of men ladies and gentlemen.  Let's check that 2020 week 17 must win box score for them again....

My hatred of that team is higher then it was during the Marino years.  Best of luck to them.

One OC is the passing game coordinator and calls the plays while the other is just the run game coordinator.

They weren't the only team with a young QB that tried to trade for Watson.

They took the wrong Miami DE because he was injured and didn't play much in the preseason? OK.

When did coaches say Howard wasn't athletic enough to cover Diggs? He covered Hopkins and Tyreek so that's a lie. It also doesn't matter if Miami caved to pay him or not.

They don't have a say-so in what leaks or not. Prior to that leak, everyone was behind Tua down here so I'm not sure why the narrative changes because someone suddenly spilled info.

Players decide if they want to run for captain or not and the rest of the team votes. Tua didn't put his name in to be a captain. You would've had a point if you focused on Miami's best players not being captains. Miami's captains vary; all of the captains from last year's squad are not even on the team for example.

Flores is the leader of men and everyone loves him. He has no control over leaks, contracts, perception of team, etc. His job is to coach players, not appease opposing fans.

Mediocre arm strength. Lack of anticipation. Mediocre field vision. He is making simple reads and throws today. You'll have to wait until the regular season to see what I mean.

That's if those things haven't improved. Miami hasn't opened the offense up since Fuller, Parker, and Wilson are out.

Yes the Dolphins starting offense scored a TD against the Falcons 2nd team defense. And they did it without Tua making any difficult throws. The one completion to Gesicki was pretty nice, he threw it right before Gesicki turned his head. Other than that it was all very simple short throws to wide open receivers. That works in preseason. I don't see anything that tells me Tua has corrected his issues from last year.

What were his issues from last year?

  10. 8 minutes ago, HappyDays said:

Tua throws a high pass that his receiver has to make a circus catch for, eliminating the possibility of YAC. Then he throws a low pass that Waddle has to dive for and it looks like it touched the ground so probably no catch. Both plays were simple NFL reads and throws that Tua just missed. The Dolphins have a QB problem.

Yet it lead to a TD anyway 😆 Mention the other perfectly-placed 5-6 balls.

Y'all try to find anything to nitpick against like every QB has to throw the perfect pass everytime. I get it though.

At the end of the day the stat line reads the same. Incomplete.

He needs to read the defense properly and take the easy play.

The TE dropped the ball just like Waddle could have dropped the ball.

Then you guys would say that all Tua does is check down 😅

WTF are you talking about? No wonder you Fish fans all think Tua is great. Because your blind!

    Watch it again.

OH! You made that post after the 3rd down play so that's what I thought you referring to. To cut him some credit, that pass was on the money.

Watch the tape again dude . He was covering the slot WR and let him go as it looked like the Bears were playing zone.

Also why are you here? Go hang out in a fish tank or something

No he wasn't. I literally just re-watched it, he had his hand in the dirt and rushed from the right on 3rd and 7.

I can hang wherever I like.

Tua still stinks. Always has. Always will since I first scouted him when he arrived at Alabama.

Pre snap he should have seen K Mack vs his slot WR a clear mismatch and instead throws an incompletion on the outside.

Mack was not on the slot receiver, he literally rushed from the right side of the line...No one was open on that play.

This coming from a guy who has the name DolFan.  I'll believe it when I see it on the field with Tua.  Nate Peterman had great camps and preseasons too.

Too small, too weak armed, too slow, too injury prone.

So I'm lying and the media covering the Dolphins are too? OK.

He's gained 10 lbs and is taller than Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray so he's not too small, he didn't get to show much of his arm off last year for reasons I've already explained, even while not 100% he was mobile enough last year so that's also wrong, and hasn't been seriously injured since his collegiate career.

Except for that 1st day where he sucked, but hey...2 out of 3 ain't bad.

I did say "the first few days". That was his weakest day, much like any other QB on day 1, and it was still an overall solid performance but hey...you almost had it.
