Great thread.  I’m proud to stand for truth, dignity, and love of country.  Democrats stood for those things before Trump.  In this Trumpian world, however, we now stand alone on such issues.  I wish Trumpers put country before president.  I wish Trumpers loved democracy.  But I’m proud that I stand for such things, and hopefully we all will get back on the same page in the future.

Say what you will about Trump.

This is absolutely the image that comes to mind when I hear Truth & Dignity

Please cite the rhetoric that lead to a kid trying to defend businesses from rioters.

Please explain how the authorities were successfully defending these establishments.

Please explain how, by virtue of the open carrying of a firearm, does one waive his right to self defense and invite mob attacks.

You seem to have thought this through and I'd love to hear the reasoning behind your assertions.

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: If, as a bonus, you could define "assault rifle" for me I'd really appreciate it.

Exactly what I was trying to get from him earlier !

You can either give a man a fish or teach them to fish for themselves.

4 years of "hoax" and "conspiracy" coming from Trump....or "Deep State"....the list is extensive.

Just Google "Trump Tweet Conspiracy" and take your pick.

Thats fine, I was responding to your assertions. If you can't or don't want to take the time to back them up thats your choice.

I don't enjoy trying to respond to generalizations.

You can call me crazy all you want but the "Deepstate" is not as hard to believe as most on the left would like to think.

What is so hard to believe about the fact that someone from outside D.C. regardless of who it is. Has plans to come in to an established way of thinking and doing business and has 90% of staffers and established politicians against them from the jump. This will dramatically affect their lives. Potentially changing the way they've been living/leaching off the people of this country for decades at least.

If I was them I'd probably be nervous or against it also.

Also how many of these people were leftovers appointed to their position by left leaning Dems and Republicans.

2 blocks of trouble in a large city is not justification for usurping the rights that states have to address their own policing needs and certainly does not justify an overreach of sending in federal militia. Protection details around federal buildings to discourage vandalism is within their jurisdiction, unmarked DHS vans rounding up citizens and patrolling the streets, not-so-much.

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/20/us/portland-protester-navy-veteran-beaten/index.html

Trump does not understand the mandate that leaders have towards taking the appropriate actions to deescalate conflict - rather, he irresponsibly pours gas on conflicts, leverages rifts between groups for his own gain, works to sow discord, and fosters wild conspiracy theories that resonate with idiot radical armed militias and take root in impressionable 17 year old children whose ding-bat mothers then drive to a protest armed with an assault rifle.

What could possibly go wrong when you have a President that uses DHS as his personal militia, appeals to armed fascist militias, and armed impressionable kids. Violence escalates and people end up killed. This kid panicked and fired wildly into a crowd while falling to the the ground after getting into a confrontation and shooting another man. This is why states and cities should handle their own policing not free-lancing armed idiots.

We have a President who is incapable of leading in a way that can bridge differences, find compromises, and peacefully move our country forward. It really is that simple, and we do need reform in our policing and that is not as simple as just somehow eradicating racism from the human psyche, but we can make progress with policies that reduce guns on our streets, provide more oversight and transparency in our policing, removal of "bad" cops, and true justice for those harmed by police excessive force.

"What strikes me about the talking points is that they didn't call for calm among the public,” said Elizabeth Neumann, who served as DHS's assistant secretary for threat prevention and security policy in the Trump administration. “Even in the early hours after the incident, it was known private militias had self-deployed. …They seemed more interested in Rittenhouse's reputation than calling for calm and actual law and order.”

Neumann, who left the Trump administration in April, recently endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden for president.

    WideNine,

I don't think anyone would argue Rittenhouse or people like him should be out in the position they're in. That said

Why do they feel that they need to be out there?

    Don't say Trump either.

Trump isn't running these cities that have these problems going on.

Right or wrong, it depends on the person but most of these folks like Rittenhouse see a community in trouble and think they can or should try to help.

We shouldn't be seeing the circumstances that bring them to that conclusion going on in our streets.

These city leaders namely Portland are NOT taking care of the problems that are being caused by violent street anarchists.

That is why Trump was interjecting the federal government into it. The violence there specifically was not a response to federal government intervention, it was just the opposite.

I am not saying some places and businesses have not been affected mind you.  One of my daughters is a professional performer and that business has essentially been destroyed for now.  Same with some bars and restaurants.  But as for guaranteed rights I just haven’t see a complete effect.  We’ve all had to adapt, and if we all pulled together on mitigating actions we’d all be a whole lot farther along against this virus.

Sorry about your daughter Oldman. I absolutely understand her position, the business I was employed by for my entire adult life has shut down. I'm looking for work after twenty yrs of a decent living.

I understand that the China virus is not something we should have or are for that matter taking lightly. The people that have a problem with the way we've responded to it as a country that share my pov, value our freedom above most other things. Honestly we don't trust others telling us how to live our lives when there has been so much contradictory info regarding the virus and our response to it.

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle as it usually does.

We should not have been restricted the way we have been.

Elderly people should have been made the priority along with people that have health issues that were easily aggravated by the virus. None of this means people that share my pov don't see it as an issue or take it lightly. I respect others pov on this

I just value my freedom and rights above all else. The easier they are to take from us the more they will be taken.

  6. Good post H2o,

I agree with just about all of your assertions. I always wonder about how much the MSM gets their narrative across to people and how many buy it. That is what gives me pause in my beliefs that he will be re-elcted. You're correct in wondering who he has legitimately lost.

Women, if he didn't lose them last time most likely he's gained some this time.

If they've scared enough old people maybe he loses some of them.

If you're smart enough to see where the economy was before covid you'll realize its a matter of time before it comes back.

Educated voters, lol 🤪 dummies on both sides to be fair.

New voters, young people are always supposed to come out and shake things up. Nevere really seem to show though. Maybe they will probably they won't.

Undecideds definitely seem to be as small as ever.

Polls do not seem to be accurate whatsoever nor were they last time.

Also heard about alot of #walkaway dems, Black and latino voters that are voting for him more than Republicans of the past.

Then there are us who didn't trust or want to vote for him last time as Conservative/Republican/libertarians.

I don't like to be over confident,

    I'm a Bills fan

So we'll have to wait and see but I agree with and see your point H2o

    Again good post !

For the people who got him elected.  Obviously Trump is not the best candidate for the job.

If our country was really about the best man, then why does everyone keep voting for people that take more and more money from them?

Gotcha, I wish we had the best of the best representing us in this country. Unfortunately that just isn't the way these things go. And nobody is perfect. You're right he is what the people that got him elected wanted for the most part. I wish he wasn't as brash as he is but thats him. Honestly the Republicans and Democrats representatives before him are what is also responsible for him. Without all of their failures there may not have been a need for a candidate like Trump.

I do disagree with your takes but you have your views like I have mine.   That doesn't mean that we have to devolve into name calling, bullying, etc.

I don't hate Donald Trump because he's a Republican.  I would hate him if he was a Democrat.  I hate him because he cares for nobody or nothing but himself and his own petty desires, and he is more than willing to sacrifice anybody and anything -- including this country -- to achieve whatever it is he wants.  His response to the pandemic underscores that.

You're right SoTier we all have our own views and I appreciate when people can have a conversation without it devolving into what it commonly does.

My opinions do not mean I've got to cast you a certain way,

From what I've heard Trump is a different person from what we all perceive in private. Take that for what you want.

I personally do not hate anyone no matter how much I may disagree with them.

I can argue and even fight without hating.

To me hate is something else all together,

I don't have the room for it in me.

I do strongly believe in the things I believe in.

    • Covid Donnie told Americans "not to let the virus dominate your life" despite the fact that more than 210,000 Americans have died from Covid-19 in less than 9 months and projections estimate that 150,000 more Americans are likely to die from the coronavirus by January 1, 2021 (IMHE).

Thanks So Tier, at least you can post something worth responding to.

I am not a fan of what he said about McCain, I disagree with that.

McCain also helped push the nonsense about Trump being in collusion with the Russian government through the Steele dossier, garbage.

I don't think he was mocking that reporter

    maybe I'm wrong.

As far as don't let Covid dominate your life.

You should be fair and accept that he is telling people to live their lives as normally as possible. Don't fear the damn Wu flu.

If you have a reason to be concerned based on your own personal condition, fine.

He was not telling folks that have lost a family member or friend that its no biggie.

Like I said I don't agree with everything he says and does. However there are fair and reasonable points that his opponents don't seem to be interested in hearing either.

Q-👶 started this conversation on something not related to Trump, btw.

Who cares what we're talking about. 🍊 man bad !

Not everything is related to Trump and not that you are So Tier but its kinda stupid to excuse bad behavior with bad behavior.

You probably disagree with most of what I said but again thanks for posting something that can be responded to !

Clearly I was correct about your childhood and nothing has changed.

Gotcha, like I said if you have something specific for me to respond to I'd be glad to.

Kinda tough to respond to your broad general assertion that Trump said something that "you" say is bad by calling someone a loser. Are they a loser, how does that show he revels in someone's misfortune?

It's all three levels. No pass rush.  Edmunds again taking bad angles.  Run Dis interesting and has been all year. They are stout one play and then get gashed for 10+ on another.  That seems to fit the narrative of not getting to their run fits and playing bad angles.  Even White has given up some yards and a score or two but the opposition has mostly targeted Levi and Taron. Milano when healthy has been great. Hyde and Hughes have been as well.

That said, the pass rush got better in the second half last week.  The run D got better.  And they forced two fumbles - one a strip sack.

    Thanks Ethan

Sorry. You obviously know he does, you said it. I don’t have to list them for you. *****, the guy does every time he calls someone a loser.

Just trying to wait for a specific accusation, I can't defend everything Trump has ever done nor would I want to. If you have something specific then maybe I can maybe I can't. I sure as hell can't respond to your generalization.

As I said before what did this have to do with Trump ?

Man, you have to be off the right side of the map to refer to the Russia conspiracy, for which trump campaign personnel are currently in jail, as a "hoax"
