If they can get him on a short deal why not.

Exactly. The Bills are going to have all of this cap space, right? Give Julio a ton of money all up-front, that's what you can do in the Bills position. He's not going to want a long contract, he's going to want money now. The Bills will be able to provide that.

I think it makes a ton of sense on both sides, honestly. Then what you want is a power RB, like a Marshawn Lynch or Leveon Bell or Leonard Fournette -- not any of them exactly, but that kind of guy. Hopefully they can find someone in the 2nd or 3rd round or wherever.

I’ve been saying this all season. I think they will make a run at Jones. Wants out of Atl, or at least wants a new contract.

    I wouldnt soemd more than a 2nd for him. Maybe a 2nd and a 4th or 5th.

I think I'd rather just spend a 1st rounder than give up three picks.

Even at 30 years old, you're still getting Julio Jones. The Bills have so many OL holes that they're going to want more mid-round picks, not fewer. It's not like a 1st rounder is always a sure thing either - we spent two for Sammy Watkins for what, exactly? You know what you're getting when you are looking at the elite WRs - so if you have an opportunity to get someone like Antonio Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, Julio Jones, at whatever age & cost, I think you absolutely go for it.

It's because the Bills are young and cheap that it makes sense to spend big for a proven veteran playmaker. By the time Julio's 3-year contract is up and he's gone, well that's when you have to pay Allen anyway, and by then hopefully you've been drafting and bringing WRs up the right way.

Crazy thought- why not Bill Bellicheck for you guys?

If things go sideways (who knows what that would need to look like) in NE it could be the end of that regime, and Bill might want to take a shot at proving he can win without Brady. And for the Packers, what better way to seek that SB window.

That's a pretty good prediction, honestly. I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility in the least. Then Brady tries to hold out so he can play in the SB against the Packers, but loses to the Bills in the Conference Championship, who go on to defeat the Belichick/Rodgers Packers, spoiling the fun for both of them separately.

If you're going to be a Bills fan, it's important to have a vivid imagination.

  3. I don't think you are wrong, OP.

Let's say Josh Allen plays for the Bills for 10 years, then he ought to easily hold all of the team QB records, at least in terms of passing/rushing/td stats. The league has become so much friendlier toward QBs since the 90s, so if Allen is indeed a franchise QB, then Kelly's numbers will likely be surpassed before that time is through, right? As lofty as "break all of the team's records" sounds, I actually think it's almost a reasonable expectation because you're only really competing with two guys, one from the 70s and one from the 90s. Neither of those should be impossible bars to clear in the new modern NFL.

I can't be the only one Allen reminds of Jim Kelly-- not in running obviously, but in size/arm/swagger, you can almost see the 2018 version of a rookie Jim Kelly in Josh Allen.

What I'd love to see the remainder of the year -- Josh Allen in spread formation, with Shady splitting out wide more frequently and bringing in Chris Ivory more frequently. I think LeSean McCoy doesn't fit as a RB for how the team is this year with the terrible o-line but even for how the team is being built.

I think the Josh Allen Bills will/should be a power run game + vertical passing offense. Ivory has been more consistent this year, imo. But, for the remainder of the time he's here, Shady has good hands and obviously he's very dangerous in space. On the other hand, Shady reminds of Thurman, right? So now you just need a Kent Hull and an Andre Reed, and a James Lofton. I think if Robert Woods had stayed, maybe there's your Reed, but maybe Foster, Zay, and McKenzie develop into something.

What were we talking about? Oh yeah Josh Allen, yeah he looks good

Boldin retired. And they didn't lose a dollar on him. No fault falls on the Bills for that evaluation.

Well come on now, no fault at all? I don't think the Bills signed Boldin with the expectation that he'd be retiring a few weeks later. Or Vontae Davis, for that matter -- they brought these guys in expecting them to contribute or else they wouldn't have brought them in. The team spent resources to acquire Jordan Matthews & Kelvin Benjamin expecting more than what they ended up getting. It's a recurring theme with this regime -- their evaluation of what they will be getting out of a player has mismatched with the reality of the player a lot in a short amount of time. Boldin, Davis, Benjamin, Matthews, Peterman... those are all pretty significant misfires in evaluating a player's ability to contribute.

But maybe it's all just part of the process!

Some fans want negative. It's a catharsis.

I think that's true but I think for me I like when hosts will question things, or to try to be as honest & direct as possible without going too far either way as a homer or basher, but just call things as they are.

So I don't find Schopp to be overly negative, but I do like that he will take something and look at it from a few different views and walk through the logic of various scenarios. I think he is pretty thoughtful and fun and real and honest, I think that is what he is basically going for and I think he does it well. He is very positive & gets excited when it is warranted, but he doesn't necessarily always side with the team on every decision they make. Schopp is wrong as much as anyone and he has had plenty of bad predictions and takes, but for the most part, I like Schopp for Bills and Jeremy and Instigators for Sabres. Sometimes I'll listen to a bit of John & Steve but I find them to be pretty boring and dull, it was more interesting when Donald Jones was the sidekick. I like both John and Steve separately and even them together, but feel like the show needs a voice in there to challenge them sometimes or provide a different perspective, besides the callers.

  6. Especially considering that they were willing to move Dareus last season, I'm somewhat relieved to see this move. It's surprising and overdue at the same time. Benjamin was bad and clearly disinterested, vocally uninterested even. However you want to say he wasn't interested, he wasn't lol

Benjamin, Boldin... this regime has had a couple of big whiffs at evaluating WRs.

What is exciting is that Foster has wide open field in front of him here, he very well could be WR1 going into next season. That's more of a prediction than an endorsement, although I do like his game for the most part as he's been gelling with Allen. He has much more upside than Benjamin does, anyway

One thought that went through my mind yesterday: “Wow the Bills special teams have been horrible.”

Stephen Hauschka’s been $$$ but every other. aspect of special teams has struggled including punting, kick returns and kick coverage.  There were several times this year when the ST’s significantly contributed to a Bills loss.

Does anyone think Crossman could be fire.  Remember, he’s the last holdover from the Rex Ryan regime.  He doesn’t have a connection to McDermott like a lot of other coaches do.  I’m wondering if he suffers the same fate as another non-connected coach who struggled last year - Mr. Rick Dennison.

Special Teams has been brutal this year besides Haushcka. Oh those Bills special teams...
