Not too far away, should drive over some time. We meet at Baumhower’s for every game.

That'd be great. Watched many Bama games there when I lived in Huntsville in the early 2000's

There is another thread on here called “Nashville Takeover” that has some posts about the game…search for it.

    Thanks!

Entire group coming from Huntsville, section 310. What part of Alabama?

    Shoals area

  3. Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, or is being discussed elsewhere. 35 year Bills fan in Alabama here, and I'm coming to MNF. My dad has gotten too old to travel with me, but we always get to games whenever the Bills are close. So looks like I'm flying solo this time. Wondering what sections people here are going to be in. Would love to be surrounded by the mafia. Thanks y'all.

Just read that Najee Harris is returning to school for his senior year. Trey Sanders is all set to return from his injury, and his blazing speed will be a perfect compliment to Najee's power. The Tide has not fielded a really fast RB in a few years. They will still have tremendous wide receivers, and a strong OL. They have skill and depth at QB.

On defense, both ILBs are returning along with most of the secondary. They (imo) need to improve at Nose and pass rush. If they do, this team might be special.

Heard today Freddie Roach is coming home to coach the DL. This will pay dividends particularly in recruiting. I was hoping Bo Davis might be returning (and still hope so), but this is a great consolation prize. Now if we can move Golding to an off-the-field role....

  5. It just sucks to see a championship caliber defense being wasted. When you go on the road, in the playoffs, and give up 19 points, that has to be enough. This team, for whatever reasons (and there are several), just can't score enough. I'm not smart enough to know exactly what needs to change, but they've got to be better offensively. They just have to...

Nothing would make me happier but I can't picture them returning to the Tide. With Waddle being a year older, the receiving corps would be awesome yet again. I like this kid Metchie.

I know it is early but Bryce Young reminds me of Kyler Murray. They also have a commitment from a monster OLB/pass rusher Chris Braswell.  Now they need a nose!

I would have agreed with you a month ago. Situations are fluid, obviously. But, I know someone down there and there is lots of optimism regarding most of the draft eligible juniors coming back (the thought is 4 could be all that go early).

The DL still has a long way to go. Outside Barmore, there's not a lot of ELITE talent there. Getting Ray and Dale back will help, but there have been some misses in recruiting on the DL. I would like to see them bring Bo Davis back as DL coach. That would provide an immediate impact, both on the field, and in recruiting.

The staff thinks this class of LBers will be the best they've EVER had. Braswell, Kennedy, Robinson, Sanders, and Bratton (although I personally think Bratton ends up at TE). LB depth won't be the issue it was this season!

We'll be fine at WR. Metchie is a future star, and Tyrell Shavers is 6'6" and is going to have a big role going forward, IMO. Bryce Young is special, although, Mac Jones is going to push for that starters job (and that assumes Tua isn't back, which is 50/50 right now). He was REALLY good since becoming the starter, against a couple of pretty good defenses.

For all those "Bama's dynasty is dead" folks, I'm afraid y'all are going to be disappointed. We ain't going anywhere....

There is zero doubt that Davonta's stock has risen.

Most of the mocks I have seen list Ruggs as being selected before Smith.

I happen to think that Davonta will go first.

I'm suggesting there are SERIOUS rumblings that one, if not both, come back to Bama next season. (Ruggs injury Wednesday may change his perspective a bit, however).

Davonta gets open on almost every play and makes lots of catches while fully extended. Ruggs is probably the fastest kid in college.

I would love for the Bills to have a choice between those two.

If what I'm hearing is true, Bills won't have a shot at either this year...

LOL. As an SEC fan since 1995, you are exaggerating beyond any rational thoughts. And dissing Verne L.!? Wow. I guess if you live long enough, you'll see/hear just about everything.

Bro. Verne was TERRIBLE for about his last 5 years. Dude was an icon, but it was past time for him to retire.

hands up all non-Bama fans who are crying for injuries the team sustained....

    anyone?  Bueller?

As I already said, no one feels sorry for Bama, NOR SHOULD THEY. But let’s not be intellectually dishonest and act as though the injury situation the last couple of years have had no effect on the on-field product.

Good grief, eliminate just the injury at QB this season alone, and y’all would all be crying about Bama being back in the playoff. AGAIN.

Perhaps but maybe less than last season. The DC is a young coach who sounds very bright. As I said, he didn't have a good enough NT and lost both ILBs, and one was a certain 1st round pick. The freshman who filled in are very talented but were ill equipped in terms of experience. DE Antonio Alfano was said by many to be the top prospect in the nation last year. He had some emotional (and/or other) problems and never reported. Huge loss.

Sarkasian is (imo) a fine OC. I hope that he stays.

I agree about Sark. Thought the Iron Bowl was probably his best game ever at Bama. I'm fine with him coming back. I feel like Golding may be in over his head a bit as DC. Great young, energetic position coach. Good recruiter. Not quite ready to be DC, IMO. It was the same thing with Tosh the last couple of seasons. The defense has slipped since Pruitt left. We had a long run of experienced successful DCs, From Steele, to Smart, then Pruitt. But the last couple of hires have felt forced. I would love to get Muschamp if SC fires him, or to be able to lure Chizik out of retirement (both EXTREMELY unlikely). Golding could go back to coaching ILB's only. Best case scenario, IMO.

waaaaahhhhhhhh injuries.... as if no team hasn't suffered them

it's kind of amazing Bama did play at the top level for years before using this excuse

i would be disappointed if the Tide wasn't back in contention next year

Look, nobody feels sorry for Bama, nor should they. But I would venture to guess no team has suffered a rash of injuries like us over the last three years. Saban was INCREDIBLY lucky with injuries over the first 6-7 years at Alabama. Just didn't have many. Not so the last couple of seasons. Since I don't have a clue how to make a tweet show up here, I'll just copy the text and post it (this seems relevant)

    With credit to @CFBNerds:

You wanna know how bad Alabama's injury luck has been?

Mocks have some combination of Tua, Diggs, Ruggs, Jeudy, Lewis, Smith, Wills, and Moses in the first round.

In 3 years, they never all played in the same game.

You really are wrong about this.

Bama had too many bad breaks and injuries to compete at their best level this season. I am not angry at all about this game. Remember, I am a Bills Fan for decades. I have known football misery lol.

The Tide will be fine Bro. ;)

PS: I hope that our top players sit out the Bowl game.

Alabama schedules its own non conference games, and they're almost always beyond awful teams.

Not entirely true. This season, for instance, Bama played in the Chick-fil-a Kickoff game, against an ACC opponent. That opponent was Duke. Bama didn't choose them, but we were selected for that game, and we played the opponent that was chosen for us. We've played Clemson, WV, Virginia Tech, and Florida State among others in that game. We've also played openers against Wisconsin, USC, and Michigan in recent years. Most of these were neutral site games where we didn't choose the opponent, just opted to accept an invitation to play in a game.

Now, we also are going to schedule 3 cupcakes at home every year, as do every other program in the world. But please don't act as though Bama has complete control of the non-con schedule. You've also got to get teams to agree to play you (which ain't always easy).

What happened to the bama defense? Auburn offense was brutal coming into this game

Worst year for injuries on that side of the ball in a decade. Alongside the continual loss of players early to the NFL, and the third DC in four years (who is in over his head, IMO) = Worst Saban defense since he left Michigan State.

Additionally, 17 of those points were gifted via 2 pick-sixes, and that abortion of officiating at the end of the first half...
