How illegal would it be for Beane to wager players with the GM of the phins based on the outcome of the game?

-Buffalo loses, the phins get Benford, Cook, and Spencer Brown.

-Buffalo wins, the phins give up Waddle & Jaelan Phillips.

Just a fun thought. The phins should be tanking this game, so I think this will be a good opportunity to get the rookies more playing time and cohesion on defense.

Phillips is an Eagle as of today - I believe

  2. Joe Brady - the crazy part is even going back to Kincaid being drafted- Ken Dorsey had no plan or implementation to use him correctly- I don’t think it’s that different with Keon and Joe-

Im really not sure what goes into the selection process for offensive weapons here - just seems like I’m either missing something or they are

I’m also gonna say Keon has done nothing to deserve more time or provide JA17 with confidence in throwing his way

The Bills are usually very good at managing their dead cap. From 2019-2023 the Bills were bottom 10 if not bottom 5 most years on dead cap. 2024 it spiked up due to the house cleaning they did on the roster but this year the Bills rank 21st or 11th lowest in dead cap just outside the top 10 lowest dead cap numbers. And that's with the Bills eating a lot of money on Von and Tre's old contract both combining to about 19 million in dead cap.

The Bills do figure to in 2026 be taking probably a similar dead cap hit in terms of cap percentage as they are this year (around 35ish million) largely due to void years from Milano and Bosa (totaling 18 million) and some other smaller void years from AJE and McGovern (Combining for another 7.5 million). Those 4 void years will total 25ish million. Add about another 10 million on cuts like Samuel (3 million in dead cap) and a few other smaller cuts and you get to around 35 million.

You obviously don't want large void years eating up 10% of your cap but the Bills needed to get out from under a large Diggs and out from under a can kicked down the road on Von. Afterwards you then also have some other vets to clear out but I think the Bills largely should be in a decent place regarding dead cap going forward.

I’m going to admit I’m at times an emotional poster- and things I post sometimes are not correct so no-issues with the correction here at all and welcome it - so thank you

Beane the wizard isn’t a thing anymore is it.

Not sure he really ever was- think about how much cap was still going towards people no longer on the team the last couple yearsI that’s not great - kicking the can down the road just makes it a future problem and continues the hand cuffing

im waiting on a Bobby Bonilla type of contract- pretty sure dude still gets paid a million every year-

Best case scenario is probably this:

    Shaheed
    Shakir

    Palmer

    Davis

No real " #1"  just a bit of an upgrade

Yeah - need to get Coleman out of the focus point- I feel like he needs to back the slot and stop using him the way they are-

but that would seem like a complete overhaul I could get onboard with quickly

Gabe is a better WR than everyone except Shakir and has "adlib" chemistry with Josh

He is quite good at getting open off script downfield when Allen scrambles....

plus he is a very good blocker

He is - and likely the best we can get currently- it’s just underwhelming as my expectations are a tad out of line - who knows maybe the change of scenery and then the return was good for him

I think all the hooplah around here about that interview is the most overblown topic on this site that I've seen since I can't remember when.

Beane was a bit prickly that day, but at the same time, he did what leaders do and stuck up for his guys.  I think some personal frustration seeped into his response too.  I 100% think he had the wrong delivery, and thats the only reason its noteworthy, but thats what I want a guy in management to do 100 of 100 times... Stand Up for Your Guys when they aren't around to defend themselves. Criticism (constructive or not), serves nobody when public facing in the 4 major leagues.

We're not privy to all the FA's/attempted trades we've unsuccessfully attempted to lure into (Metcalf?) the building.  Nor are we aware of all attempts to move around the draft board, that just didn't pan out.  WR's havent exactly been falling off of trees the last few years. Beane needs to shoulder the load of having given that extension to Diggs when he did, knowing what we know now.  It lead to him having to offload a toxic asset prematurely, and eating a dead cap hit to do so.

In no way do I think we went into that offseason, thinking a deal needed to be made.  We were going to try and tread water with it another year... Diggs blew that up.  When he inked that deal, it seemed like a no-brainer, squash the one gripe the guy had... I don't think anyone saw that bipolar mental episode coming, def not at the extension, and def not at that point in the offseason when we unloaded him.

It's easy to point to Minnesota and say "he did it while he was there!"  That's one data point. The guy had some credible gripes too. Contract. Playing 2nd fiddle to other WR's... being on a run heavy team.  We took a chance on a good WR, taking the next step, hoping he'd become great. Diggs did that. He balled out and put his heart in maybe more than anyone on those 2021 + 2022 teams.  Predictably, things like that can break a guy, especially a diva.

Beane deserves criticism for his part in those decisions, but he didn't make them wholly himself.  That episode REALLY screwed up our timeline... and I agree overall, he hasnt done enough at the position, but I dont know how many legit chances he's had to add the fix we need either.

TL:DR  I'm behind Beane doing what he shouldve been doing, supporting his guys when spotlit in the media.  Anything resembling criticism needs to happen behind closed doors.  Justtttt Maybe next time lay-off the caffeine before sounding off B.B. and that's the real mistake here, hand serving a sound bite to the media

Yes - all fantastic points -

I guess there is plenty we don’t know and i personally agree with the premise of sticking up for your guys- I just felt in that situation it was more he was reacting to the criticism of him not doing much with it-

i guess at the end of the day im not a GM im just a guy that wants a productive team and when you have Allen you are always in the window if you build your roster

plenty I don’t know- I just feel like the trade deadline constant needs at a thin position is getting old

now jump to something because of injury-I get it- to me the room was weak before the season started

  8. I mean isn’t getting old that every single year we seem to need to bring another unproven WR and we have to hope it magically just changes everything- it’s criminal to have the unicorn we have just to keep cutting off the horn

no excuse to just have him work hard and shoulder everything and god forbid someone question Beane about it during the time frame he should of done something- bro criticism helps us grow and your job is to filed a team- how bout looking in the mirror before being an ass and embarrassing yourself

WGR should just play that response from him during every commercial break.

My take is this exactly! If Josh doesn't trust them to catch it...they aren't going to see the ball much.

Shakir 7 targets, 6 catches for 88 yards, 1 TD

Coleman 4 targets, 3 catches for 30 yards.

    Kincade 3 targets, 1 catch

    Knox 1 target, 1 catch

    Hawes 3 targets, 2 catches

    Moore 4 targets, 1 catch

    Davis 1 target, 0 catches

I saw Davis last on this list and instantly was like when the hell did they activate Gabe

  10. Issue with his defense (McDermott) has always been the same and will continue to be so- statically looking at a season really lacks an accurate picture of things-but stats are bs anyway -good QBs are never contained- they simply methodically tear us apart,

then pressure on Allen to be a hero -  this is why the playoffs seem to end the same way- if you are dealing with a strong coach and a good qb they are cooked
