  1. I agree with you. I don't understand all the paranoid tin foil hat wearing people in this thread.

If you have nothing to hide, what's the big deal?

If I have your first and last name I can search you on zabasearch.com and find out all sorts of info on anyone for free. If I pay $60 more I can get even more information. If you receive mail and apply for credit, you can't hide from Big Brother. Quite frankly, unless you're living off the grid, you can't hide.

Yeah, zaba's bad. It's hard to get yourself out of the database too. They have a tiny little link that then tells you how to submit something in writing via snail mail to get yourself out. I had to do it 4 times before they actually complied. It's a pain in the butt.

  2. As a researcher, I'm disappointed that they're not trying to draw a more complete picture of the population...

... but spartacus wasn't kidding when he mentioned that the government used census data to round up the Japanese-Americans during WWII, a decision that wasn't exactly one of our country's finer moments.

No, that's true but it's also a crappy reason not to do your civic duty and fill out a GD form.

Lori, this is not directed at you.

You know what? Don't fill it out. As a matter of fact, have nobody in all of WNY fill it out. We'll go ahead and use your share of federal dollars and Reps in Congress to get what we need down here in PA. You all can then manufacture the two things that WNY still exports in abundance...bitching and moaning.

  3. I think the questioning got started witht the phone number thingy. I guess we live in a very cynical time. Everybody distrusts.

Yeah, we're ok with giving the government our phone number(s) to have them keep telemarketers from calling us during dinner, but if god forbid those same people should ask for your phone number as part of counting your actual existence within the country we'll all just lose our minds...

HONEY DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE!!! IT'S THE <insert designated evil group of politicians here>!!!!

I can picture it now. Board rooms full of NSA, FBI, CIA and all sorts of acronyms we aren't even allowed to suggest exist all wiping their brows "Thank Christ all those dumbasses gave us their phone numbers, now we know where to find them. Hey Peggy? You can go ahead and power down the satellites now, we're back on the phones! Oh, and get me Bob on the phone, I need a friggin update on this telegraph and Pony Express situation..."

  4. btw this guy might just need more vitamin D- that would be funny as hell

Yeah I'm sure that's it. After all he hasn't had a professional dietician and the psychiatric care in Philadelphia is Cro-Magnon at best and he and the team who invested massive amounts of money in his success lack the financial resources to seek out experts in the field but I'm sure that you know what you're talking about.

How was the Holiday Inn Express last night?

  5. The Giants, Cowboys or Redskins will snatch him up in a heartbeat (probably in that order of likelihood). One of the best guards in the NFL. Philly fans are insane.

Philly fans are insane but they also have no tolerance for players who don't die for the team and Andrews didn't do that. If we wait a couple weeks his brother will get released as well.

Andrews has a bad back, chronic mental health issues, and hasn't really played in 2 years. Yeah he's got talent. Is anyone ever going to get it out of him? Pretty doubtful, the Eagles waited 2 years on him, spent $$ bringing in his brother to support him, don't really have a good replacement for him and ditched him anyway. What does that tell you?

He'll be a Raider or a Bengal by the end of the week

  6. This is awesome! Let the idiots of 40 time worship pass on him. If he ran a 4.0 forty instead of a 5.0 he'd be able to cover the 10 yards to the backfield, uninhibited, .25 seconds faster and that can make the difference between not a whole lot. Is he strong? Is he nifty? Is he smart? Is he agressive? Those things mean a lot more to me than potential .25 seconds over 10 yards.

See that math works when you're running to a stationary target. When the target is running away from you you need to account for that as well. I grant that the difference in distance covered between a 4.5 and a 5.0 is small, but even if it's less than an arm length that's the difference between a from tackle and an arm tackle, or an arm tackle and a whiff

A person who runs 40 yards in 5.0 seconds is moving at an average of 24 feet per second. A person who covers that distance in 4.5 seconds is moving at an average of 26.6 feet per second. Using that math, for every second the two players are running (Spikes and an average run of the mill RB) the RB is pulling away by 2.6 feet. That's a little under an arm length for every second they run. That is a lot. It changes the angle the player has to take in order to make the tackle which forces the LB to attack the ball less on anything not straight ahead in order to meet the RB at all. If you get an exceptionally fast back like Chris Johnson it just gets worse.

Let talk about coverage, if the LB is in coverage it's not crazy to track a player for 20 yards or more especially in a blitzing situation (that's less than half of the width of the field and remember parallel to the line is still distance to be covered). After 2 seconds of coverage the RB will be open by 5 feet. That's wide freaking open. 2.6 feet is open, 5 feet plus is insane.

Even if Spikes ran a 4.75, still a pedestrian time, all these distances would be halved and even that makes a big difference on the field between a tackle and a miss. 5+ is just too slow for a LB of any type to be on the field. With that time he's not draftable in a 7 round draft.

  7. Moorman was our MVP, wasn't he ?

They should have had a picture of Dick Jauron walking out of the building with a box of his personal belongings.

I was at that game and I fell asleep. 1 hour drive to the airport, one hour flight, weekend in B-Lo in prep for the game, all excited to be there for my one trip of the year...fell asleep in the 3rd quarter. what's worse is that the game was so bad that there was no noise to wake me, and when I finally woke myself up, I hadn't missed anything.

  8. Call it Buffalo-esque anxiety...I live in constant fear of a Buffalo collapse until they are 100% guaranteed in the playoffs.

What's the difference? This bunch of Nancies isn't winning the Cup. They're one and done even if they make it so who cares if the collapse ends a week sooner or later?

  9. As Tim Graham pointed out on his blog, Kennedy probably benefitted from playing beside other outstanding DL in Minnesota, one of which is arguably the best pass rusher in the game.

That's true, but what are we asking him to do? Are we asking him to anchor a pass rush, or to eat up blocks? I sort of see where the Bills are going here. They know they won't get a top notch NT this season, at best they get someone like Cody who's a bit of a risk/project. In the short term, rather than having one giant NT they can actually get 3 big DL and put them all out there at once. In essence they are all functioning as space eating NTs and if they pressure the QB it's a bonus.

This is particularly effective if we end up large at OLB as well which would be the case with Schobel and Maybin out there. There'd really be a 5 man line that could move around and morph into different alignments to confuse the offense. The anchors in the middle would be Poz and Mitchell, neither of whom are small when compared to some 3-4 ILBs and who both have experience in coverage as well as playing OLB if they morphed into a 4 man line by having one of the OLBs put their hand down.

God forbid, we'd have some versatility.

  10. God look what these buttheads just did to us.

    http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-free-agency/...ite-in-AFC-East

What was it exactly that you took umbrage with? What I heard was we have no QB, we have no line, we have no money, Lynch has been a disappointment and might get traded, Chan Gailey has a lot to prove. New England, Miami and the Jets are better, better run, and have more money to get better. Thus, the talking heads have a hard time seeing us being successful in the short term. Yeah? And? I hear this stuff every day around here and I agree with most of it.

  11. Personally, I like Sproles a little better for Buffalo. He adds a dynamic that this team doesn't have and his special teams value would be a nice bonus. LT does have some left in his tank but I don't see how he could get 5-10 touches a game with Lynch and Jackson ahead of him. I'm guessing Lynch is staying of course. If Lynch goes though, LT would make sense.

Sproles is so explosive and does alot of it on his own. Between special teams and 3rd downs, he'd get enough touches to make a difference.

My whole thought was that Lynch was trade bait for Sd then we need another back and Sproles or LT can be our #2.

  12. I love Sproles as a change of pace weapon. What would he be looking to get paid though? He would be a nice return man as well.

I don't think he'd be all that expensive which is why Sd non tendered him. Teams won't over pay for a 1.5 down RB when they have shown that they don't pay for 3 down backs, they'll just draft one.

The better question is who is the better 3rd down back right now. Sproles or LT. I'd love LT in a limited role. he's not going to carry the mail anymore but for 5-10 touches a game he's still got value, esp as a receiver.

  13. Mawae lets us move Hangartner to guard and Levitre to tackle. Incognito can play RG if Wood isn't ready to start the year and Mawae will be gone soon enough so as not to block Wood moving to C at some point.

Then we only NEED one tackle immediately, not two. You can sign a vet like Tra Thomas as a stop gap and draft a guy who won't have to start right away rather than reach for a maybe guy at 9 if the ones we want are gone. We can then slide down and take Jared Odrick or Mike Iupati. Iupati would show some foresight as Mawae is short term and either he or Wood could then be C when Mawae is gone and could push Hangartner and Incognito in the interim.

All of that assumes the NTs we want and OTs we want are gone. Then it makes sense to move down for a team who goes nuts for Berry, fill another need and get another pick.

  14. The Colts a couple of years ago? They run the same defence as the Bills have been using, 2 of the final 4 teams this year ran a version of the Tampa 2 (Washington and Indy) with the other 2 playing a 4-3 and a 3-4

The Tampa 2 is an appropriate defensive style when you have some offense on the field. You slow down the opponent and try to hold them to three because you're pretty sure you can counter with seven.

As soon as we get Manning or Favre at QB with Adrian Peterson at Rb I'm better with that style. When your offense sucks, as ours has for almost a decade, your defense needs stops not field goals. It needs to turn the ball over and/or get three and outs to help your pathetic offense get field position. If they can't do that you die by 1,000 cuts.

  15. Not "the same dominant player at the end of practice that he is in the beginning, but if substituted often..." There you have it. You have to pretty much accept that this guy is going to need frequent substitutions, unlike Ted Washington, for instance.

Well, here's a thought and stop me if I'm crazy, if you get off the field in 3 plays like you're supposed to you can rest.

IIRC Washington didn't play on most 3rd and mid to longs anyway so that's an automatic sub out on a regular basis.
