Ok, but state run media is a drastically different thing than for profit media. To suggest that the media, which conservatives usually describe as "the left wing media", is trying to indoctrinate the masses for political reasons doesn't pass any muster of analysis. In America, the media's only objective is to get bigger and richer those goals are directly aided by the preservation of class and capitalism. Even obvious Democrats (notice I didn't say leftists) like Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow don't want anyone to be a communist. It doesn't serve their goals.

Propaganda, more generally, however absolutely does serve goals, and news is loaded with it. However, it's pretty easy for those with a little media literacy to separate the wheat from the chaff. The problem is when people go all in on their echo chambers, and that's a problem that's absolutely bi-partisan.

Fair points. Especially the last part.

I'm not sure where you meant for me to stop but I read a few sections. I'm not sure what exactly you wanted me to take away from that though. I'm honestly not even sure what the word is that you referenced.

    What are you getting at?

Although I agree with what you typed about the financial goals of media; I read into your post as one that doesn’t think that media is used to mold public opinion. I was pointing to what took place earlier in our civilization as a reminder that it has been and still is a real thing. Apologies if that’s not what I should have taken from your original

    post.

The word I was referencing was “communism”. Many people read that and think the person using it is not aware of what it means and is simply a “right wing extremist” afraid of change. Again, not implying that you would have felt that way. I’ve read enough of some here to know how they’d most likely react.

This anti media conspiracy crusade is ridiculous. There is nothing "left" about "the media". In a capitalist structure, the media is a for profit enterprise. The CEO of the largest media companies in the world could give two ***** about right vs left politics. They care about what sells. What sells more than any other thing? Sensationalism and rivalry.

Anyone who lived through 9/11 saw all of the bull#### pro USA military propaganda on every single news network for years. "Operation Terror Takedown", Threat level watches, etc. The media may by and large present stories to the political left of Trump's right wing, and even GW's right wing, but that hardly makes them the leftist crusaders that they're being painted as. There's two big reasons for this: money & education.

Pursuing a career where you need consumers to buy your product, you lose a lot of addressable market when you have exclusionary stances that are required of conservatives. In order to have a strong market while promoting exclusionary stances, it's usually required that you market exclusively to that base. When people refer to "liberal media" the first thing that comes to my mind is inclusive. It's less about left vs right than it is about right vs the rest.

The second point is education. It shouldn't be a divisive  or controversial topic by now that the more education you have the more likely you are to gravitate away from conservatism. Conservatives often say that this is part of a conspiracy on behalf of professors to turn everyone into marxists. The simpler reason, and the one everyone I've ever met has experienced, is that when you leave a small town that no one ever leaves, and you have Vietnamese food for the first time, you tend to see the world in a different light. Things that used to seem foreign and scary start to become part of your everyday life and you begin to cherish them. You meet people that speak more languages than you, eat different foods, pray differently or not at all, come from drastically different family structures and you start to appreciate how your upbringing was probably not representative of the world at large. People that become journalists and writers tend to have these experiences. It doesn't mean everyone walks away less conservative, but it makes it more likely.

One thing and it’s not necessarily a disagreement.

    1949.

I just want you to read a simple section from Encyclopedia Britannica that will shed light on these two areas you’ve touched on. In 2020; where technology is so advanced how are the concepts of mass reprogramming far fetched yet they were easily conducted in 1949? Someone here; and not necessarily you, is going to roll their eyes at that last word in that link and place a laughing emoji on this post; I’m not asking anyone to focus on that word. Don’t get hung up. Go beyond it.  I’m simply pointing out the methods used to manipulate. 1949......2020.

Thank you.  This is why the media are the biggest villians in all of this. If they were honest and non-partisan like they are supposed to be, then we wouldn't have half the country living in an alternate fake reality.

You are correct. It does not take a terminal degree to realize that news today is a tool used to shape the opinions and minds of those receiving it. Educators and celebrities are guilty of this as well. Personally; I feel if an educator is sharing their opinion on political and social issues with students; it’s not education. It’s a deliberate attempt to hijack developing minds. They cloak it with 46 different virtue signaling terms to make it sound as if there is some special benefit for the collective.

We have people who look to those influencers for information and guidance instead of relying on their own cognitive ability to discern and getting information from sources who are qualified to provide them. Instead of people building their own opinions based on what they’ve taken the time to learn and understand; they prefer to have those opinions downloaded into their brains by others. It’s quick and requires the least amount of work. Since society is now largely an instant gratification society; influencers and manipulators have harnessed the power of persuasion for gain. For those who do not adhere to the accepted methods; they are ridiculed and mocked for daring to deviate from them.

    Here we are.

Have you had the chance to read the declassified documents that have been coming out? Don't believe DR, just read the documents and make up your own mind.

There are exceptions to every rule; however, those who are already firm in their indoctrination or opinion, will NEVER seek out information that may prove them wrong. Instead; they will gravitate to and absorb information from sources that share their opinions because it’s comfortable.

So; when someone on here tells you that they’ve read the Mueller report or read these documents in their entirety but somehow still have the same opinion of the situation; you know that they’re lying to you. Not only that; but 3/4 of the people who tell you they’ve skimmed them struggle with the terminology so they didn’t take anything away from it anyway.

It is a psychological fact that human beings seek to feel comfortable, even if their comfort is based on lies. It is less likely that you are actually interacting with someone who holds no political bias than it is that you are interacting with someone who does hold political bias even though they tell you they’re not.

It is also a psychological fact that those who have to constantly broadcast to others that they are or are not X; actually are the opposite of what they say to a degree.

I guess what I’m getting at is; stop wasting your time with some of these people here. Is it really worth you getting all worked up? You’re not going to change their minds. You won’t sway their opinion and they certainly aren’t going to admit they’re wrong.

Yeah, I am. Took me a while to figure out how. That said, PPP is being raided, which should be concerning. New rando accounts spamming here are not even Bills' fans, and come here to frap on many who have posted here for years.I hope the real posters don't give in, as this place is currently under attack.

Well; just think about what some people do outside of the internet. I mean; we are talking sincere mental illness here. Not only are they mostly incapable of functioning in a normal society; they have no control over their emotions and often reside outside the realm of reality mentally. The worst part about it is; these types are in positions of influence with education and entertainment. Never in my life, have I ever witnessed so many people sit around and pointing the finger and blaming others for the very stuff they do.

So; I’m less concerned about a message board than I am of the real world but I understand what you mean. We have a mental illness problem in this country. It’s already made it’s way through most of the rest of the world and thanks to complacency; it’s now here.

Don’t engage them. It gives them the feeing that they’re somehow more important than you and that they’re affecting your life. Engage with the normal ones who can carry on an adult conversation without stroking out.

Gee, maybe a Presidential candidate who is suffereing from alzheimers, and/or dementia, and who has a running  mate who openly criticized the candidate as a racist and sexual manipulator is just the person to "hold this country together."

    Yeah, me neither....

We’ve got some goddamn loons running around in 2020. Legit mental cases.

Tell me again that there's no voter fraud.

    Go ahead.

    Tell me again.

I just want to know how many people believe that absentee ballots are the same as the mass mail in voting promoted by our idiotic politicians. What you think? 7? Maybe 10? Surely we don’t have that many people who can’t function highly enough to discern. If we did; Darwin is a lying B word.

  10. Sure; definitely not a hoax.

They had to reach in really deep in order to pull this ***** out of their asses. I’ll give them that. They covered a lot of bases too. I mean; all the important bases. Except for two; common sense and truth.

Thankfully for them; the people they pander to are not exactly the worlds brightest W.A.P’s. Thankfully for us; the same.
