Kicking it at the 5 is guaranteed points, kicking from the 33 is not. Plus you give then the ball at the 40 if you miss.

 

Horrible play calling and and even worse decision. 

 

Gutless, safe play calling is not gong to win when you have to beat the pats and the refs.
