  1. 100% agree with the OP.  It’s hard to live through, but it’s pretty obvious this was a rebuild.  After the off-season moves they made you’d be delusional to think this team was a contender.  Heck they pretty much came right out and said what they were doing.  Again it’s hard to watch the team you love get beat up week in and week out, but at least there is a strategy... mortgage the future for a franchise QB and build around him.

They swung for the fences which so many of us have been asking them to do for years, now we have to patiently wait to see if the plan pays off long term.

I for one, have an opinion on the picks and moves they have made, but am willing to withhold judgment for at least a year.

A stat like this is about as important to QB success as ability to cook a wonderful meal.

When Tom Brady reads a defense at the line, makes adjustments to take advantage of defensive scheme, and then throws a little 7 yard timing pass over the middle...where does ball speed enter the equation?

The mental component of the game is massively more important than arm strength.

Good thing our QB topped the wonderlic test as well!

  3. I’m usually critical of some of the moves we’ve made in the past at QB (RJ, Losman, EJ).  There is no sure thing for any of these guys, but I think the Bills made great moves to get Josh AND Edmunds.  For the first time since Kelly I am really excited about our QB.  If he busts, well we’ll just have to try again :).

  4. Great post and completely agree.  This kid is definitely polazing.  I really wanted the Bills to get Darnold.  But when it came down to it, all of these kids had upside and gaps.  I was not a huge fan of Rosen, when you have to say things like, ‘I’m being authentic as the theme of the draft’, you come off as being unauthentic.  Beyond that, I can see the slightness of his build and his injury / durability as a big issue.

Allen is NOT EJ, other than the fact they are big, I really don’t see the comparison at all.  This kid has an arm that is special (think Favre or Elway), so the upside is tremendous.  I’m not saying he will ever be as good as those guys, but he has the potential with the right coaching and mentoring.  By all accounts he seems like a bright kid - I heard he’s very impressive at the board, and most importantly the dude was genuinely happy to be a Buffalo Bill.

Jim Kelly worked out pretty well....but that's more than 20 years ago.

Baker Mayfield threw 4 times as many screens as Allen.   Do you think that would have changed the numbers for Allen if he'd thrown more short passes?     I do.

Yea and Brett Favre didn’t work out so well either haha

  6. I was good with the move.  I still would be good with starting him once we are mathematically out.  Before we potentially spend multiple 1st round pick on a qb, shouldn’t we first see what we have?  Obviously he impressed the staff enough to give him the shot, and Tyrod had struggled the previous two weeks (#’s against the Jets would lead you to believe otherwise but it was not a good game).
