Wentz has yet to get to 4 years, they did mention Goff, as one who has recovered in NFL from one year to the next.  Even if 1 or 2 outliers do come about, doesn't prove theory wrong. The chance that all of these QB have generally reached their statistical ceiling in college is overwhelmingly high.

Well I guess when Allen is inducted into the HOF, you can put your doubts to rest lol

The article specifically states why they use the first 4 years as a benchmark along with other details in the paragraphs that follow.

Even the best qbs need time in the nfl to learn defensive schemes, new playbooks.........this is not a very valid or accurate article to judge a qb lol......once a system is learned, chemistry with teammates, etc, many qbs have far exceeded their college stats.......if your saying will Allen be a superstar in his first 4 years probably not with their current roster. But give him a few targets and a good o-line with his talent, and the skies the limit for this kid

But the data out there says your theory is not true.  Of the 38 QB drafted between 2010-2017 that have thrown at least 300 NFL passes, NONE of them have exceeded their college success rate in their 1st 4 years in the pros. (1ST 4 years used as that is their rookie contract length). In other words their college numbers are their ceiling.

Carson Wentz proves this theory wrong.......in his 2nd year of pro although only playing 13 games he exceeded his numbers of yards, tds, and less interceptions then his best year in college.....

Read your article again, it’s says first 4 years of pro........not many qbs are instant stars in their first few years......

The value and potential with Tremaine is galactic. An absolute steal and the WR class this year was not great at all.

I didn’t say Edmunds was garbage, far from it, but we haven’t had a good reciever in years and our o-line is falling apart (Shady is gonna have a tough time running and if he can’t run we won’t be passing well either) . I hope he makes the defence great as I am sure he will, I just want to see some excitement again with this team and it doesn’t come from a snore fest of defensive plays for points :-(

So how then are we suppose to judge college QBs?

From what they do on the field in the nfl. Your just seeing their mechanics, leadership, drive to win, situational plays, etc from college. We all know the nfl is another level and it’s taught by the coaches and veterans. You don’t become a race car driver just because you got your license, you learn to drive. Throw him at the helm, and you will see what Allen can really do for the Bills.....

People should stop comparing Allen’s completion percentage in college to Favre’s. It’s silly.

No silly is saying a qb is garbage because of college stats period.......both Favre and Brady both had mediocre at best in yards, percentage, and tds.........doesn’t mean they are gonna be crap, which is my point here......

    Disaster.

Mediocre college QBs have no history of success in the NFL over the past 20 years.

You can't teach an inaccurate QB how to throw accurately at the NFL level.

Well I would love to see you tell Brett Favre  that who incidentally only had a 52% pass completion in college......

People keep knocking this guy for his accuracy during college. He didn’t have the best receivers in the world on his team so cut him some slack. If you want to compare college stats, let me just point you to Brett Favre who had a measly 52% pass completion during his college years and look what he did in the nfl. Don’t write this kid off just yet. Sure he needs some work and experience in the nfl. But I guarantee this kid will blossom into something really special. Something we have been waiting for since Kelly retired.....

Please post your reaction in this thread only...

I think everyone is getting a little too upset here.......we have A.J. McCarron and Nathan peterman on our roster as qbs. Could this really get any worse??? Josh has the typical size teams drool over, a rocket of an arm, and an incredible upside. Compare his college stats to Brady’s, they are actually better then his and he played in Wyoming where there was no talent surrounding him. I am excited t see what this kid can do. I just wish they could of went for a reciever to help him out with the other first rounder. I don’t think a linebacker was a bigger needed then an offensive lineman or wide receiver. Our defence was actually pretty good last year. We need offensive help. Tyrod wasn’t gonna get us a Super Bowl throwing a measly 14tds a year. Like it or not, this is an improvement as he can fire the ball anywhere he wants. Hell I seen this kid throwing 50 yards from his knees. As for his accuracy problems everyone is complaining about, once again surrounded by no talent. This kid throws the ball where it needs to be, it’s not his problem receivers can’t catch catchable balls...........GO BILLS!!!!!!

  10. Why is everyone bashing Tyrod here? He has no real weapons to throw to and an offensive line that doesn’t allow him enough time to throw the ball further than 10 yards at a time. The problem is not discipline anymore as we have a real coach now, the problem is offensive line and lack of quality receivers. Even when his receivers were open they have been dropping balls like high school players. Tyron’s talents are being wasted on a dismal offensive team because lack of quality personnel. Wide receiver and he offensive line need to be address via the next draft or will be another long season next year of mediocrity......

Jury is still out, I'm not going to pile on him because of last night. But if the wheels come off in the next few games he'll be part of the reason why.

As for a real franchise QB, still think we have one developing on the bench right now but he's obviously not going to play this year unless Taylor gets hurt or is truly terrible in the next few games.

Omg please don’t say your talking about Peterman lol

    No he is not.

7 sacks because hes too gunshy to pull the trigger at the end of his dropback.

7 sacks cuz their offensive line stinks. Hence, no rushing yards either. Their defence is doing great considering their lack of personnel, but offence will continue to be mediocre at best till offensive line is upgraded
