  1. I think Zero a well known KC fan deserves a lot of credit for this post of over a year ago. Our offense did fine with Diggs not a big part of it over the last 7 games. Yes he may have drawn some coverages but he also had a huge game winning drop.we need good, reliable pass catchers like Kincaid and Shakir. A game busting potential superstar like MHJ would be incredible but we’ll be just fine with another solid if not spectacular receiver. Don’t sell the farm to move up!!

  2. I pretty much agree with the feelings of the more senior fans who have contributed to this discussion. I have been an ardent if not crazy Bills fan now for 75 years! I first saw them lose to the Browns in the old AAC in 1948 when my Dad took me to my first  game. I'm happy to say that I have 5 wonderful Grandkids, all of whom grew up in New England but all hate the Patsies and love the Bills so I must have done something right! I have always felt there was an unusual bond between the Bills and Buffalo accounting for the intense pride so many of us have. One of my sons pointed me to a documentary on Hulu entitled Welcome to Wrexham which is the story of a downtrodden town in Wales and their once proud and very old soccer team. The team is purchased by 2 Hollywood guys (I never heard of indicating my age) and how their goal is to improve the soccer team. The parallels between that story and the relationships between the players, the team, the coaches and staff, and the town are so similar to our situation and so insightful that I urge you all to sign up for a month of Hulu just to watch this story unfold. It is enlightening and very moving and I LOVED it.!

I expect a heavy dose of Smyth to the flat, Achane sweeping to the left, and Berrios outside the numbers to the right.  They may try and get Claypool on fly routes with single coverage.

Agree. I think we might see the strategy the Bills used against Dallas. Play possession, keep the Bills O on the bench. Toss in an occasional deep throw with one of their speedsters

  4. My family and I had gone out west to ski and it was a perfect ski day. Everybody but me decided to ski.I stubbornly said, I’m watching the game. At halftime I wavered, said I’ll watch one more drive. As I recall Reich threw a pick six and I slammed the door, went to rent some skis, found the lifts were closing, went back, turned on the Tv…and heard, folks you have just witnessed the greatest comeback in the history of professional football!! When we got back to Buffalo, I bought two of Osgood’s tee shirts, one of which I still wear on game days.

  5. We’ve had over 20 dogs but our favorite was a German Shepherd named Calhoun. He was named that because my 12 year old son and I attended a pre season game against the Giants. I told him that we would name our new puppy for whoever scored the winning touchdown.it was Don Calhoun a 10th round draft choice in 1974 who was the hero. Calhoun was a huge part of our family for 12 years!

His heart is in Michigan and not sure his drive to win it all will be the same here.  Not saying it won’t but I’m just uncomfortable with it.

And I know it sounds crazy - might be time to revisit Bienemy.

The Commanders O looks better then the Chiefs (sorta) - that is not to say it’s all bc Bienemy left they have Reid for goodness sakes.  I just think it might be something.

Great post but also remember Bob Kalsu -see post earlier today

  8. On this Veterans Day Bills fans should especially remember Bob Kalsu. Bob was the only U.S. professional athlete to die in Viet Nam. He is memorialized  on the Bills Wall of Fame and his life and career  documented with a cover story on Sports Illustrated in 2001 .

Bob was an All American tackle at Oklahoma and became a starting guard for the Bills in 1968. He was voted the teams top rookie but enlisted at the end of the season. Tragically, he was killed in Vietnam in 1970

This summer I donated my sailboat to a Buffalo waterfront organization a group which teaches veterans, handicapped and underprivileged children how to sail and be safe on the water. When asked what I  wanted to name the boat , as a Bills fan since 1948, I immediately thought naming it for a Bill  might mean something to these kids. After some thought I decided if they named the boat the Kalsu  that might be something that could bring to light a forgotten Bills hero who had given his life for our country. This group does outstanding work bringing joy and maturity to a group of kids and others who otherwise might never have the fun enjoying the water that has been such a big part of many of our lives. If any of you are interested in supporting the memory of Bob Kalsu they can be reached at http://www.buffalocommunityboathouse.org

  9. While Tua has been red hot and Hill and Waddle are devastating weapons it would not surprise me if the Fish are scheming to primarily use their running game to keep Josh and our O off the field. Mostert has had big games against us and Achane seems as scary fast as Breece Hall. Mix in a few quick slants to Tyreek and we could get burned for some long plays

I think they had so many below average years as fans that they are stuck in their ways of just being negative.

As someone who has been a fan for 75 years since my first Bills disappointment in 1948 I can say that continual disappointment doesn’t always lead to permanent negativity. I think that it is just human nature with all it’s variability that leads to differing reactions to situations. The spectrum extends from those who always know better (in hindsight) to those who never disagree with the majority view and maintain they and their viewpoint are never wrong despite reality staring them in the face. I think most of us are somewhere in the middle and  we vary from  being positive or negative depending on a whole host of factors ranging from their childhood experiences to whether their wife was in a good mood last night. In the end, most of us here are Bills fans regardless of the prism through which we view our team.

  11. Don Calhoun

I took my 11 year old son to see a Bills preseason game vs. the Giants in 1974. The game was close and we had a new unnamed puppy. I told my son that if the Bills won, whoever scored the winning touchdown would have the honor of having our new dog named for him. Calhoun, a 10th round draft backup to O.J. scored, winning the game and our beloved German Shepherd that was part of our family for 11 years was forever known as Calhoun !!

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!!! Congratulation, you win the common sense award.

100% agree. The best investment is in paying for the players that best help and protect your 250 million dollar quarterback. They should be doing everything they can to keep JA upright and in the pocket throwing dimes when he isn't handing it off. If this team expects to get any longevity out of Josh, they need to stop putting the whole damn team on his and Diggs shoulders and expecting him to take hits on QB RPO plays or having to throw the ball 35+ times a game. Give the guy a run game and a legit #2 receiver to go with Beasley (or someone else with great hands) in the slot. They do that, and I could see JA lasting 15+ years. If they don't, he'll be lucky to last 10. His body won't be able to withstand the beatings his body will take any longer than 10.
