1. i imagine that there are a number of you that use cbssportline's fantasy football commissioner to track your league. i've used others before and it was always simple to specify when the transaction period begins each week. i usually have done it each tuesday at 6pm. once the first game of the week plays, rosters are frozen and don't unfreeze until tuesday at 6pm. then anyone is up for grabs (except for dropped players who go to the waiver wire for 24 hours before becoming free agents).

does anyone know how to set my league up this way on cbssportline fantasy football commissioner???

  2. It's called seeing the "previously, on Lost" recaps at the beginning of the shows.  It's also pretty obvious when a character you never heard of kidnaps 2 people you HAVE heard of.

exactly....they skipped that one with the intro of ethan, then last week i'm all curious as to what locke and boone were gonna dig up and when i go to watch it last night, they are TWO episodes past it. (i know because i went to the Lost episode guide and confimed my horror.

i can't imagine that they wouldn't get great ratings if they had two episodes per week and ran the series in its entirety. what bozos there are making decisions for these networks.

getting the dvd is gonna be the way to go.

  3. i started watching Lost this summer from episode 1...and i am addicted. but they keep skipping episodes from week to week. i'm watching Wednesdays at 10. are they showing the other episodes at some other time? its really getting frustrating.

  4. i've been so busy the past month i have been away from the stadium wall and all things football. never was i more unpepared for an nfl draft than this year. i hardly got to follow it.

i was, before the draft, hoping wwe would grab munoz,jr. just his genes and mcnally made me think that he would be a great fit. i thought he was gonna go in the 3-4 round but it looks like he didn't even get picked? is this the case?

  5. From ESPN Insider and Scouts, Inc.

The only thing that could hold up the deal now is the status of Henry's contract. He has one year left on his deal, and the Cardinals would want to sign him to a long-term contract before making a trade.

interesting...you never can believe anything though. i remember reading a while back that one of the things holding up the trade was that henry wnated a long term deal but arizona wanted him to play out his last year. who knows......well i hope the deal goes through.

  6. i don't get to the wall as much as i'd like to so this may have been suggested before. it may open me up to getting flamed but i'm curious to know the other waller's opinions.

with all the steroid talk in baseball that has been going on, i've been listening to alot of "experts" talk about the effects it has on an athletes abillity and also the negative impact it can have on their body.

looking at the way Eric Mould's career has gone, it would seem to suggest to me that he has at least dabbled with some kind of HGH.

first, he comes into the league young and underdeveloped. after two years of pretty much zero contribution, he comes back in '98 to post all pro numbers and put himself in the elite WRs of the league. not to mention a physique that only David Boston could outdo. after a couple more years of brilliant production, he was quietly tied to BALCO, the company that was found to be providing steroids to athletes. this kind of sprouted up quickly and went away just as fast saying that he was just...endorsing their products? (i think thats right), but the fact that Moulds was involved with them in whatever capacity, shows that the opportunity was there.

now, since that BALCO connection was uncovered, he has not been the same reciever. his numbers are down, he is often injured and it just seems to be too much of a coincidence. if i am wrong with some of my facts, set me straight. but as of now, i can't help but believe that the peak of Moulds career was due to some sort of HGH.

    ok, beat me down.

  7. Good info! Do you know who Dallas drafted the year after the Herschel Walker trade?

    273403

the trade happened on Oct. 12, 1989. In the 1990 draft dallas picked...

    1 Emmitt Smith RB Florida

    2 Alexander Wright WR Auburn

3 Jimmie Jones DT Miami (FL)

4 Kenneth Gant DB Albany State

5 Dave Harper LB Humboldt State

however, the picks aquired from this trade lasted until 1992. here is a good article that gives a complete (and confusing) breakdown of that entire trade.

  8. Dare I ask... are either of these UNION jobs?

the fed is with the usps and the county is actually with boces, as a programmer/analyst for which i took a erie county civil service exam. i'm going to have to find out more specifics about where they get their money cuz i have a suspicion that boces is funded by nys. if so, thats a good thing and my dilema may be moot.

  9. without question its tice. He let the clock expire on the vikings first round pick TWO YEARS IN A ROW!

    Mike MArtz is second

    269945

i don't know...if that ever happened to the Bills, i'd be blaming TD, not MM. who is the gm of the vikes, that's who should take the blame.

though he still is a good choice for all the other boneheaded things he has done.

  10. ok, so i've been unemployed for a little while now. i finally have gotten a job and it is with the federal govt. good job great benifits, ok pay, however, it takes me out of my chosen field. i am going into an interview tomorrow for a civil service position in my field but its with erie county. great benefits, much better pay...seems like a better position, if it lasts.

obviously, there is some apprehension to accepting employment with erie county the way things have been going. the job i just got, i could probably retire from (in about 30 yrs). who knows what is in store for any of the positions with the county. the difference between the two is the large gap in pay.

what kind of information would you want to know about the county position to make you feel comfortable about accpeting or rejecting it? i'm looking for poingant questions to ask my interviewers in order to be able to properly gauge the tradeoffs....ie. pay vs. security.

  11. Constantine singing Sting was A W F U L.  I seriously think I could sing almost as out of key as he did...

Bo by far has the best voice...He sounds like a polished pro and I hope he wins it all.....

    266405

i gotta agree with your post. i don't know why people, including two of the judges, think that contantine kid has any sort of talent. he is terrible. he seems like he stages every move and every "cool rock n roll" inflections when he sings. it is literally comical watching him perform.

that bo bice is the real deal. i end up watching this show often enough and have been really impressed with him. unlike the other kid, bice really seems genuine when he sings and does such a good job. he is BY FAR the most polished of the guys but he probably won't win based on the peolpe's vote.

i'd be surprised though if bice doesn't have really successful career after AI.

  12. don't think it's a huge issue.

clements is the only "must keep" guy. if adams and fletcher still play at a very high level this year then we should try to keep them. i don't think their prices will be exhorbitant in relation to their production. shouldn't be any problem resigning kelsay unless he goes out and gets 15 sacks and if thats the case then you gotta keep him over adams if you can only afford one of them.

the rest being lost doesn't upset me at all, all are replacable besides milloy but since his "can't feed families with SB rings" comment, i could care less if he is on this team or not.

  13. Word of the day---OPTIMISM---maybe the word of the season. I hate to say this but...look at the patsies--players stay to win. If JP comes out gunnin and we are contending (as we should) then there wont be a prob signing and keeping FA's because most players realize its more than the money. Winning is where its at. That said --- here's to winning  and OPTIMISM!

    255234

    novel idea.

  14. Chris Rock: Someone should have reminded him that he was not in a night club. He made me laugh a couple times, but overall he was not that funny. Call me a prude, but I was unimpressed when he started off the show by shouting "Sit your asses down!"

    255202

    you're a prude. :o

i flipped back and forth all night so caught a bunch of his jokes. when he introduced tim robbins saying, "here is an outstanding actor who is probably gonna bore us with all his boring political views" (or something to that affect), i laughed my butt off. so did everyone else.

also in his opening, when he did his take on hollywood rushing to make movies and not waiting for the stars they need to make quality films, that was hilarious. that guy will crack a joke about someone with them staring him right in the face!

  15. Ok, so if you had a chacne to get Randy Moss for dirt cheap, are you telling me that you'd pass because of hs character? I want to believe fans that say that, but GMs are more aobut playmakers, than character.

    254372

ok, now i really haven't watched clarett run in a game at all. most of what i know i have read or listened to. so tell me, is this guy's talent REALLY comparable to that of randy moss'???

i mean, there was a great number of media folks who thought clarett might not have even been drafted last year. and don't tell me it was all because of his character....lawrence phillips was the FOURTH overall player taken in his draft and that guy is straight up thug.

  16. I realize that some of my views are a little out there.

But to think that Nugent is going in the 1st round (or even a high 2) is a little out there in  itself. I haven't seen a mock yet that has him even going in the 2nd. Now I realize Mocks aren't accurate, but I haven't seen ONE that has him close to even #32.

He's good, but he's not Sebastian Janikowski coming out of college.

    253541

the ONLY mock drafts that matter are the 32 drawn up by each team. the closer we get to draft day the more i think nugent's stock will rise because of the supposed lack of blue chippers in this draft. i really think some team...when it comes to their pick in the the bottom of the FIRST round...is gonna say, "no one else we can be sure will make an immediate impact. lets just get our kicker for the next decade"...and pick nugent.

  17. Wait a second...THIS year's draft??  Didn't you know we only post draft reports from 2004 (specifically those on a QB out of Tulane) on this board??

    253596

hey, i think i can tie both subjects into one post.....

it seems that if we're not going to have a first round pick, this is the year to not have one. that may have been part of TD's decision making process when he traded to pick losman last year.

  18. I'd rather face Moss twice a year than face Williams.  Moss is a crybaby, and with no QBs in Miami, he wouldn't do much.

As for the Bills, there's no way they get Birk.  I just heard him on the radio this morning (I live in MN) and he said something to the effect of, "I'm glad Moss is gone.  I liked playing with him for a few years, but halfway through this year he started to bring everyone else down with his attitude.  Good riddance."  (I'm paraphrasing of course).  Didn't sound like he was expecting a trade at all, and players are usually notified when they're being shopped around.

Your friend is making stuff up. ;)

    251981

well, all he said is that the bills are interested in him and want him. he didn't say a trade was in the works. i doubt he's making it up but if it's false then someone is.

  19. Heard this rumor from a friend in MN, i have no reason to think its reliable but rumors are always fun to discuss. this makes me sick though.

Moss to the Raiders, Raiders trade Moss to the Dolphins for the rights to Ricky Williams.

I do not want to see Moss twice a year!!!

Also, the Bills are after Matt Birk, MNs probowl center. like i said, i can't vouch for the reliability but we'll see on both counts.
